Reddit is shit for general discussion on common political, social or cultural issues. Threads are inundated b people checking each others' past comments or making puns. Just look at r/worldnews.

Reddit is very good if you have a very specific purpose in mind. Want to ask a graduate level math question? Go to the specific subreddit. Want skyrim mod help? Go to the specific subreddit. Trap porn? Again, a specific subreddit for that.

4chan is overall better than reddit for having semi-casual discussions but if I want to get something to work I search a subreddit and post my query there.

I can tell you right now that 8ch's owner ended up betraying his userbase and selling out because he got addicted to pills and wouldn't do anything about the corrupt moderation because all the mods jerked him off in IRC. Sometimes someone in IRC would ask for a board, and he would literally just give it to them for no real reason other than "he asked for it". And the worst part is, he and the rest of the mods would always brag about how they were better than "cuckchan" (their name for 4chan) because they allowed GooberGate discussion and basically let 8ch /pol/ (aka Stormfront) have free-run of the place. You can guess how well that turned out.

I tried 8c before moving to 4c. 4c has a dated format, but more users, more content, and more fun. I could never get into reddit. I don't hate the site, but it's just not my in tune with my personality.

BTW, there are other sites on the internet besides these three. Plenty of cool chans. Wizchan is the alternative "minor league" chan I visit most.
