Anyone here join the military to escape a life of NEETdom that

Planning on joining the military after college, but I'm not entirely sure yet. Is it worth it? Any tips I need to know if I do go through with it?

I'm going to join hopefully by the end of the year

What country are you? Even accounting for our worthless dollar, I'm making way more than any Murican is at my rank.

Personally, I thought it was worth it. For all it's faults, I find being in the Air Force to be much better than being a lonely NEET, going to University, or working for my dad (owns a plumbing company). I've done all three.

I was bothered about silly stuff like "working for the man" and "selling my soul to the gubberment" at first. Pretty quickly I realized I don't care. At least you get to complain about authority non-stop with other privates/corporals.

My basic was tough but totally manageable as a fairly fat/out-of-shape person. If you're fit, it'll be a breeze on the physical front. I lost about 40 pounds in 3 months, but I didn't eat a whole lot.

I'm not too miffed about it, shit happens. After the crushing disappointment and everything, I feel it matured me a lot and don't worry about the stupid shit that kids my age normally worry about. I think once I get my ass in gear and figure something out the lessons I learned will lay a foundation for a good life.

I'm glad things worked out for you man. I still always recommend the military to people unsure of what they're doing with life. Are you still in the service?

I tried. I tried to join as an surveillance operator or someone that fits life support into fighter jets. I passed the specialist test for these jobs and called up for the final step, being the job interview.

They told me that there are no positions available for these jobs for males.

Im hoping to lat move out of Infantry. The Marines taught me alot of great things, but the military was not at all what I needed in my life. Lying about my mental illnesses and my lack of pma makes things sucks a little more. I thought joining would make things better for me, but my mental just deteriorated.
