is it possible for a person with no art degree or credibility to practice performance art without looking like a degenerate?

Yes it's very possible. You'd be surprised to know that this common video that you probably know about already actually features no art majors.

"Art" stopped being relevant after the dawn of photography and video. Take note when "art" started to get weird. To stand out, they need to shock and be weird.
When was the last time you heard of a famous painter who just painted pretty pictures of people? It's always news about some new shock art.
Thus "art" is pretty much redundant and meaningless.
>>34240054
Yes, the whole point of art is self expression. You don't need to know the history of theatre or some shit to do it, although it would probably help you for inspiration a lot if you did. There are styles of performance that actively reject literally every convention of performance and theatre.
t. faggot studying useless degree.
It's especially people with degrees who look like degenerates. Why would you spend so much money going to college and then end up doing that?

People dont paint pretty pictures or people now because that shit has been done. Art will never be redundant as long as the world keeps changing. Film is art, TV is art, everything is art anon, not just Renaissance style sculptures and paintings.

>When was the last time you heard of a famous painter who just painted pretty pictures of people?
1. There are too many people in the world of art for their to be just one famous person who went above and beyond.
Art was always a specialized skill available to the upper classes and few lucky lower classes
2. You probably don't hear about them for the same reason you don't hear about anything else, you rely on the media to inform you of things instead of looking for information yourself.
3. Even within the world of photography, there are specific things that make photos great and things that make them terrible. There are many great photographers that you've never heard of, but have seen their works everywhere, simply because you don't care enough
Art doesn't have to be shocking, but when it is, that's when people like you talk about it
