I went to one on New Year's eve.

Usually they're like >>34221197 describes, but this one was actually fun because it was all people who met through animu cons and so there was actually stuff to talk about, and the drinks were good because the guy mixing drinks is a pro bartender in "real life."

It was totally worthless for meeting girls, like a 3/1 guy/girl ratio and out of maybe 30 girls there only 2 or 3 were single, but still a fun party to hang out at and at least it was good practice for talking to girls.
