Alternatively, just kys when you do go blind/when you're close to being blind and hope you don't fuck it up. I agree that going blind would be worse than death.

I'm legally blind and still enjoy anime, albeit it's more like an audio novel to me, and if I get confused about whats going on I need to literally zoom in x200 and squint really hard for 2 minutes, but generally it's alright.

However I speak Japanese.

Yeah it's shit and I miss being able to actually see things, but it's really not as bad as losing your arms or something. There's tons of software out there to help you out, and maintain use of computers.

Pretty sure they will come up with some sort of eye implants in the next 10 years, you still got hope OP.

It's also worth noting that I'm not completely blind. if I truly need to see something I just need to magnify it a few hundred times to see something that isn't an indiscriminate blur of nothing.
