The false assumption that people need to have X amount of stuff happening in their lives, and so getting rid of harmful things will fill their lives with opportunity to turn things around. As well as a huge misunderstanding of cause and effect.

I tried giving up videogames and drugs, it just meant my day was even sadder and emptier.

Escapism may be a way to forget reality for a time, but when is it healthy and when is it exagerated, and is "healthy" something defined by society and changes every decade?

For example, the other extreme, workoholism, it's way more accepted by the Normies but is it anymore healthier to kill yourself at work?

We should rather ask ourselves, what are the different things that I want. Can I have my cake and eat it too? No, then which thing am I ready to sacrifice for a chance to obtain the other thing? Don't stop vidya game if it's just to look at the wall.

I'm trying to escape 4chan at the moment, but I am doing it for a purpose, I have books that I've been wanted to read for a long time now. So I'm sacrificing 4chan time for a few months because right now I've had enough of postponing my reading list.
