While XIII was a great cinematic experience, had enjoyable bosses and semi-traditional combat (except for the entire team dies when leader dies) XIII-2 had a phenomenal OST, more exploration, based antagonist (Caius) and satisfying ending for its annoying main characters.
Being able to travel to 3 different versions of a city or place was actually really well done.

XIII is more or less a game with strong character development as opposed to XIII-2 that expanded the story.

Subjective, I liked some of it's tracks, but XIII had a better one as a whole.

LR had a better one, and Caius was only slightly better than XIII's Barthandelus. His motivations are also cliche and boring.

How is that satisfying? Luckily LR happened and gave it a proper ending after XIII-2 fucked with the XIII's story and the universe as a whole.

The whole time travelling aspect of the game also isn't really interesting. Everything in this game is just kinda shoe horned in, because they needed another game to make cash.

The third character in your party being a monster was also unnecessary.

The best thing XIII-2 did was improve upon some gameplay issues, that's it.

Aesthetically XIII is also much better than XIII-2, the areas are better and the enemy designs are better.

In a bad, but most importantly, unnecessary way. Couple that with boring and bland areas, a weak main cast and a fuck ton plot holes, and you've got a game that is just a trainwreck.

Yeah. No. If you can't even recognize a great OST I don't know what to tell you. You can much more in XIII-2 than XIII and XIII did not do better in areas than XIII-2. Like I said it was a great cinematic experience. But the story itself was sort of a failure in appeal besides heroes saving the day.
XIIIs story was simple. XIII-2s story had much more depth. Take what you will.
