I all comes with experience.
There will be a point where you will miss your fear of driving, become cocky and barely watch the road.
I made my license a year ago now and the first time I also was sweating bullets and thinking that this is not worth it.
Now I am driving like a suicidal retard, steer with one hand, rev up the engine at every opportunity, cut corners and others, etc.

The sad thing is, you are right, you should have a healthy dose of fear while driving, but chances are rather that you will completely lose it after a while.

I have a license and it still is scary for me. I barely drive at all. When I do it isn't too far from my house. I haven't driven out far in over a year now. I also feel like I get lost driving out anywhere. I probably need a gps or map if I ever hope to get around.
