Autism discussion

Anyone else get "stimming overloads" where they simultaneously shiver and experience an intense dopamine rush that literally makes your back curl with pleasure? I get this after peeing sometimes, and from really really good music except with music it's extended and way way way better

>stimming overloads

Never knew it's called this way.
>>
>>34156724
I don't know if it's called that either I just invented the term because I don't know how to search it on Google

Does anyone else know what it's called? Do normies get this? I think they do too actually, weird. Maybe they're only sensitive to strong stimming overloads and we're sensitive to even subtle ones. And that's our issue. We get too much information.
>>
>>34156808
Googled a bit more, apparently it's just Sensory Overload.

I have this all the friggin time, touch\scratch some certain area on head\arm and it just triggers. Music, peeing, eating certain things.

This happens to me sometimes too, not as often as you though.
I don't mind it too much though it becomes particularly hard to deal with when there's other people around, as I still try hide my autism from pretty much everyone.

Also, how do you get a girlfriend when you have autism and are unable to initiate contact with any person?

You don't.

Sign up for special needs dating agencies, most of the time you get paired up with a literal tard with Down Syndrome or whatever but you get a fuck out of it.
>>
I fucking wish I had mild 'tisms. It beats diagnosed paranoid schizophrenia by a wide margin.
>>
>>34160000
this, autists aren't self-aware enough to even care about being mentally disabled, while schizos pretty much live normal lives until onset, and it only goes downhill from there
>>
>>34156808
I was about to say normies don't have stimming overloads because they don't stim, but then I realized you were saying 'stim' like 'stimulation', not 'stim' like hand flapping/pacing/rocking back and forth.
/autism/, what are your stims? I do the three mentioned there, but flapping is pretty rare, it's more like the equivalent of making a stressed facial expression when you're stressed. I pace a lot, and rock fairly often.
>>34158586
Date girls who are also autistic.
>>34159633
This could work too, I guess. I've met a couple cute and interesting ID girls. There's the moral issues, though.
>>34160000
Don't fall for the psychiatry meme
t. autistic 'schizophrenic'
Also, I've read a lot of the psychiatric literature. From that and my own experiences (been 'psychotic' but never taken neuroleptics or otherwise involved myself with the system intensely), I've concluded a lot of forms of 'schizophrenia' -- the ones that don't resolve themselves (which 2/3rds do if you never take neuroleptics, but here we are!) -- are worsenings of pre-existing autism that in people who were never diagnosed autistic were just very mild.
>>
>>34156686
oh shit. those things are 'tism related??
>>
>shiver and experience an intense dopamine rush that literally makes your back curl with pleasure? I get this after peeing sometimes, and from really really good music except with music it's extended and way way way better

That's just a regular dopamine rush OP, everyone gets those

Autists may get them more? idk, but normies definitely do get them
>>
>>34156686
>stimming overloads" where they simultaneously shiver and experience an intense dopamine rush that literally makes your back curl with pleasure
HEY WHAT THE FUCK, IT'S NOT FAIR. I WANT TO BE AUTISTIC NOW. I WANT TO FEEL STIMMING OVERLOADS.
>>
>>34161635
>I WANT TO BE AUTISTIC NOW.

I wish I wasn't to be honest, I'm glad I'm diagnosed but it's nothing but suffering.
>>
>>34158027
>Also, how do you get a girlfriend when you have autism and are unable to initiate contact with any person?
You don't.

Pretty much have the same problem. But there's no point in complaining about "tfw no gf" when you don't make the effort to talk to people. Either look for help, attempt to get better yourself through trial and error or just become a MGTOW.
>>
>>34160064
my stim is touching the back side of my phone. texture just feels weird and you can tell by its temperature how much battery it is using.
>>
do all autists have low IQs?
>>
>>34162456
Depends if you're low or high functioning. High functioning autists typically range from average-high intelligence. Low functioning autists are usually retarded (<70 IQ).

>>34162456
No, and even autists who have low IQs on conventional tests are usually of normal or high intelligence. The autist-normie IQ gap almost disappears on the Raven's Progressive Matrices, an IQ test that lacks the verbal component of other tests.
Also, one problem with discussing intelligence in the context of autism is that people with Down's and other syndromic ID conditions are often diagnosed with autism alongside that despite never actually having it, and the ones who get falsely diagnosed tend to be the most severely affected by the original disability, so that obfuscates the true average.
>>
>>34162003
Shit man, this gets me really depressed.
I'll try to get better at this social stuff, I really desire warmth and physical contact from another person but I barely understand social contact and body language.

I wish romance and love wasn't the main focus of pretty much all media, it only hurts more because I get confronted with it every day.
>>
>>34156686
Certain songs especially specific bits are almost like a mental orgasm sometimes, food also to a lesser extent. There's also other things which I find unjustly enjoyable like certain games or TV shows, I get so excited I actually wiggle and squeal. To be honest aspergers is alright, at least for me, feels like a positive aspect of my personality in most cases.
>>
>>34156686
Holy fuck, that's a sign of autism? I get those all the time.
>>
>>34162748
>Certain songs especially specific bits are almost like a mental orgasm sometimes

Can relate, it's always suffering when it's only like 10 seconds and you repeat that bit over and over until it doesn't sound as great or intense anymore.
Have this the most with classical and orchestral music.
>>
>>34156686
I'm a real autist. I get sensory overload easily but it's never pleasant like that?

Any other autistic bots with tinnitus and hyperacusis?
>>
>>34164104
For me it's very across the board, when I hear a song that does that I'll play it a dozen times over, even when it doesn't give that same amazing feeling it sounds pretty great in comparison with other music.
>>
>>34164248
I have both, but it doesn't bother me too much. My tinnitus gets insane when I drink alcohol though.
>>
>>34164240
I'll get tinnitus fairly often but for 30 seconds at most usually, but I once had it so bad I felt like screaming, I also have this massive aversion to the sound paper getting scrunched, A4 specifically, when it starts making that weird plastic noise is when I hate it, makes it hard to even think for at least a minute every time.
>>
>>34166033

Same issue but for people whistling, it is unbearable, worse than nails on a chalkboard.

>>34156686

I sometimes have epiphany while hearing to music, but only late at night and alone. It's obviously an illusion (I never receive actual insights on quantum physics) but it does feel good.
>>
>>34166033
I have a constant screechy noise but also a different pure tone thing that's exactly like:
>fairly often but for 30 seconds at most usually
>>
>how do you get a gf
I look like a dad somehow and developed a good sense of humor, so now I get busted teen girls to care for and stim over. I've complained about it before but it could be worse.
>>
>>34166630
Mine isn't too common of a thing for people to do but whistling sounds like it'd be a problem a lot. Also when I said A4 I meant printing paper in general and also cardboard, they make almost what is a dull screech.

>>34166652
Mine is more of the general ambient noise that you hear but really loud, mostly happens when it's silent.
>>
Do female spergs even exist? Apparently Prof Baron-Cohen reckons that autism is a manifestation of an extreme 'male brain'.

I used to volunteer at an autistic youth club. I saw girls who were diagnosed with autism who were just retarded all around (and that therefore included social skills) but the kind of people who are actually not retarded in all areas except social skills (Asperger's I guess) were only ever male.
>>
>>34167129

They exist but there's a twist: the female hivemind means that they've been taught social skills by the Normifemales since kindergarten until it clicked. That's what females do, no nails must stick out of the wall, everyone must be assimilated. They end up conforming and even their obsessions are most of the time over girly things.

Because of that, most go undiagnosed because on the surface they're just that quiet shy girl who obsesses too much over poneys and so teachers and parents have no issue with this.
A cynic would say that Sperg males are a problem only because society says so, as girls get a free pass.
>>
>>34167129
>>34167129
i read some studies that think girls are infected as much as boys but are better at pretending to play and usually say a few words at a normal age so goes unnoticed or missdiagnosed

i watched this it was really cute desu sperg girls are cute

it wouldnt let me attach link but if you youtube search ''Girls with Autism'' its the first result
>>
>>34167129
I remember some holes being poked in that theory about the nature of what is a female or male brain but I can't remember specifics, I'll have to search it up.

It seems when girls have autism, they just have autism, like immature behaviour and obsessions, never seen one with aspergers to my memory, I remember I watched this documentary on it and some of the girls were forming obsessions with boys, they'd have multiples of the same photo of him so hey looked all neat too.

People always say girls are better at hiding autism though so maybe there are a lot of girls with aspergers but they just keep it hidden far better.

hey anon thats fine dont say you're gonna watch it if you are not going to though thats rude

just sayin
>>
>>34158027

I'm a 36 yo with the Aspergers. If you let other people initiate contact, you can't reject it. And you have to spend a lot of time outside of the house.

When I was younger (and better looking), girls apparently did like me - I just couldn't tell by picking up on any signals or social cues.

If someone make a suggestion to do something (and it isn't illegal), just take whatever you need to keep your anxiety in check and do it.
