Rugby at secondary school (equivalent to middle and high school)
7 years
Prop - for those unfamiliar with rugby, they need big guys to add weight, much like American football. I was (still am) fat, so it worked for me.
I think that it helped me avoid being labelled a complete loser. I went to a very nice school where there wasn't much bullying or violence, but there were still cliques. I felt moderately accepted by the 'cool kids'. Most of them were pretty decent to me because I worked hard at the sport, which won their respect. Nonetheless, I didn't socialise with any of them outside of matches/training.
I never accomplished anything, really. I did my job and tried my best, but I was never much good with the ball so avoided it at all costs. I guess it's just something that I could put on a CV as normie-fodder.
I also played on the university chess team. That was a fun experience, but there wasn't much more to it than meeting other teams and sitting in silence for a couple of hours. Again, looks good on CV.
