It is absolutely certain that individuals of different races are profoundly different. No reasonable person could assert that an African is similar in the ways of reasoning, of seeing the world, of relating to other human beings. These differences are obviously not genetic but a product of thousands of years of social construct. It is also reasonable to assert that an African can be, because of a flawed social construct (for example failure to organize a disciplined society, or failure to adopt a more peaceful daily life), inferior to a White person.
A comparison is always a comparison - to - something. For example, if I say that Jane Doe and myself are different, it depends what ground constitutes the difference stated. For example, if take as a comparison basis biological sex, Jane Doe is indeed a female and I am indeed a male, therefore we are different. So an African is not inherently inferior (since it does not mean anything), an African is merely inferior compared to a Caucasian when the ground of comparison is values we hold dear in our Western civilization. That's quite an unfair comparison to make because of course we will be closer to the Western ideal as White people than a non-White person would.

Now you can try to make an objective comparison. You do it by stating that our Western values are objectively better, fairer and more valuable than any other because they (Equality, Libery, Freedom, Responsibility, etc) are a product of reason applied to social sciences. That is the theory of the Enlightenment philosophers and of all the natural law philosophers. Through the appropriation of Western values by reason, you can indeed state that we are superior because we have been in history the people who are the most able to apply those principles.

It can be seen as a good objective to try to get Africans to join our conception of life. That is the theory that was used by the French Empire during colonization when it was said that France had a duty to civilize African and Asian people. The problem is that the use of force (colonization) to impose the Western principles we hold dear generated submission, violence and rejection.

Eventually colonized countries started to ask for independence. But what is independence? It is the will of the people to obtain sovereignty over their territory and their government. Those independentist movements intended to be democratic, and some of them actually were.

So, to sum up.
Was it racist to assume that our Western principles are better than anything else? Yes, but that was "evil" racism but well-meant racism.
But the insemination of democracy and Western principles in those undercivilized countries actually generated greater good (less poverty in Africa, etc - set aside the cons of colonization).

So racism is not inherently a bad thing. It can be used as a concept to justify raising a people up from the miserable condition they suffer. It is a firm belief that you live better with your principles than they live with theirs, so that you want to help them. It is actually an act of altruism.

Because that's mostly what racist people do mostly. They see someone acting in a way that doesn't reflect their group's attitude, spot a visible difference (skin color, language, body language...) and just use it as a discrimination term to tag everyone with that difference as "inferior".

Racism isn't natural. In tribes that never saw a person of white color, if that white person respected all the codes of the group, it would become a part of the tribe without any kind of discrimination.

This is pretty much why racism is seen as something to fight. Sadly, the reasons aren't exposed but in serious books, which aren't mainstream.

We legit we need better schooling and equipment for teaching. When I was in school out books and equipment was shit. I went too a different school for a book club and was jelly by all the nice things they had. But I know that's not the full thing.
