How is the POTUS most powerful? Any large and influential changes would be opposed and either denied or modified to suit the average views of the average politician, which is why every president feels like a useless fool who can't do anything. POTUS power is a meme, they're just the government celebrity. For them to have real power the US would be a dictatorship

Look at how Obama's done with Congress post 2010 elections. If Hillary wins, it's gonna be more of the same. Wall Street wants Hilldawg.

They tend to get what they want.

Sanders is only running as a token gesture to the young people in order for Hillary to 'pull left' on issues like weed legalization and such.

It's gonna be Hillary v Rubio, and even that's only because Republicans desperately need to get Hispanic voters.

Trump and Carson aren't players. They're not going to get delegates from the party brokers. At best, one might be tossed a VP nomination on an estabishment ticket like Rubio or possibly Kasich.

Not a lot, honestly. The pundits are waiting for Trump and Carson to fail, as they must, and for their followers to settle on a new target that's acceptable to the kingmakers.

There are primaries and such, but winning primaries doesn't necessarily equal fundraising or delegate pledging. The electoral college is really the thing that has to be controlled, and non-politicians like Carson and Trump have a near-zero chance of getting to that point.

They'll have fun at the first couple of primaries, but I expect by next April or May that there will be a consensus around Rubio or Kasich. Maybe Jeb, assuming Dick Cheney sells another soul to the devil on behalf of the Bushes.

Citizens don't matter. Money does. Trump can pour out his personal fortune all he likes, but he won't buy out guys like Adelson, Murdoch, or the Kochs.

It's going to be more than 11.2% nowadays, which isn't insignificant considering that it's posed to grow to more than 30% in less than 20 years.

Republicans are a dying party of scared, stupid white people who keep thinking that voting to give the rich more money is going to benefit them through trickle-down voodoo economics.

Granted, it doesn't hurt that their single party platform is "We're going to do the opposite of what would be good for normal people."

Well, Citizen's United has made is something of a clusterfuck. Used to be the money had to go through the main party organization to be handed out to chosen candidates, but now anyone can give anyone else money through a large collection of shell companies, which has allowed otherwise non-sensical campaigns like Fiorina or Carson to succeed in spite of having zero support from the people who actually know politics. The Tea Party, initially utilized to fleece the rubes of their money, has actually garnered real power to stifle day-to-day operations that has only succeeded in damaging the Republican brand. They've created a monster that's realized they never really cared about getting rid of abortion or stopping illegal immigration, and they're angry about it.
>>
>>24047896

Wikipedia has it at 11.2 percent of adult citizens in 2012, which means it's a fair deal higher years later, in all likelihood. But by all means, pretend it's meaningless because you don't agree with it. If the Republicans don't win the next presidential election (and it's incredibly unlikely at this point barring a sudden death or assassination), they're likely dead as a major political party at the federal level. They'll continue to control state houses in the South and Midwest, but they'll never get the presidency again without completely overhauling their platform.

Nuclear warfare will only be initiated by a poor nation who has nothing to lose economically, leaving us with Pakistan as the most likely instigator.

China and Russia both rely on keeping their monied aristocracy in line, and fucking with the US is decidedly against their economic self-interest.

http://www.census.gov/prod/2013pubs/p20-568.pdf
Romney lost because of the abysmal white voter turnout rate, the lowest its ever been.
If Romney had the same white voter turnout rate as McCain did, he would have won. He lost it by pandering to Hispanics.
Note that if Romney got 0% non-white vote total but just 3% more white vote, his overall votes would have gone up.

Pandering to the non-white is suicide for republicans.
>>
>>24048010

Technically, candidates cannot 'coordinate' with Super-PACs, in that they cannot directly communicate with them. Except that they're free to talk to reporters about what they wish Super PACs would do, making it a totally pointless rule.

Even the FEC has all but said they're not even bothering to look for rule-breaking anymore because it's absolutely rampant.

Money = speech has been a tremendous triumph for those who have lots of money and not those who have lots of speech.

I would have to imagine a big chunk of that is owed to the Republican party's strategy of embracing white supremacists and the disaffected Dixiecrats during the 1960s. Yeah, that's still in living memory for lots of people.

The Republicans love to point out that they're the party of Lincoln, and that the Democrats were the party of segregationists and racists. They're less fond of pointing out they absolutely pandered to them from 1968 onwards in order to turn the south solidly Republican.

But please, keep pretending like it's all about getting the free ride. God knows the Republicans never do that, unless it's for arms manufacturers or people who inherit mass wealth.

He has zero chance of winning.
He lost to the 'not sure' option on every poll except for the extremely white states. He regularly polls below the 'don't know' option.
He has absolutely zero minority appeal in a party that will be >50% minority voters in 2016.

He's the senator of a state that has less than 1/5th the people of my tiny ass city and it's 94% white. The only reason he barely won new hampshire is because it's so similar in demographics to vermont.

>Demographics don't lie. Either they learn to accept minorities or they stop being a party with national influence by the 2020s.

Everything lies if you twist it hard enough.

Fun fact, did you know the census includes non-citizens? The actual US racial demographics is nearly 78% non-hispanic white. The hispanic birthrate has also dropped like a rock since 1985, and our net migration with Mexico has been negative since 2010. At the current rate, non-hispanic whites are the growing demographic.

Massachusetts had republican delegates sign a waver stating " I certify under the pain and penalty of perjury, that on the first ballot at the 2012 Republican National Convention, I will affirmatively Vote for Mitt Romney, the winner of the 2012 Massachusetts Presidential Primary" - Romney still lost.
North Dakota vote was flat out fraud, Ron Paul won it - https://youtu.be/zD6_7mdcWSA
Paul's first caucus win was taken down off their website and replaced with text saying Romney won - http://ivn.us/2012/03/13/media-misleads-as-ron-paul-gets-his-first-win-in-virgin-islands/

How will we have any problems with nuclear meltdown? Even eastern yuro reactors are retrofitted so this isn't a concern. Worst case scenario we get a lot of heavy water that is contained. Do people think the democrats are really going to win a third term? Not only is that in itself uncommon, but Hillary's not seen as trust worthy and Bernie Sanders may be a bit too leftist even for the left. The GOP has lots of candidates to choose from, one of them being a well liked celebrity and the other being a neurosurgeon, so people who would have never voted republican before may consider switching because the GOP establishment candidates probably aren't going to win.
Let's not forget even Bernie Sanders keeps bringing up Hillary's E-Mail scandal, so the DNC is already tearing itself apart, while the GOP has started to work together.
