My general approach:
Select the parts you want to remove. To do it quickly use magic wand tool or magnetic lasso. Increase the selection a bit. And then use Edit > Fill > Content Aware. Use clone stamp to fix any messy borders. Fix as much as possible and start looking for donors.
The secret here: look for donors that are lit the same way as your source. And make sure the perspective is somewhat similar. Work with layers, always keep the original. Transform parts of your donor and fit it on your source. Use a soft brush eraser or use masking to fade your donor stuff into your source. From this point it's not as straight forward.
I use color correction tools. Adjustment layers, clone stamp, sometimes smudge tool (beware of blurring too much). And copy parts of source, transform > warp to fix gaps. Multiple layers set to different blend modes (multiply, lighten, screen, overlay, most often) to fix lighting and colors. etc.
It's probably going to take some practice too :p.
