You are a young man who aspires to be a Lich, and are willing to achieve your goal by any means necessary. Thankfully, there's more than one way to achieve your dream. But, before we get into that, we need to find out where you live.

>Innawoods.
>The mountains.
>A city.
>A farmtown.
>Write-in.

Second, we need to choose your career. Black magic doesn't pay the bills, yet. Each career choice comes with its own pros and cons, which you'll find out later.

>Farmer.
>Blacksmith.
>Lumberjack.
>Merchant.
>Courier.
>Daddy pays the bills, you're a prince.
>Write-in.
Now then, choose your flavor of black magic. This choice won't affect you much in the long run, but it will have a big impact early on.

>Necromancy.
>Voodoo.
>Divination.
Now, decide who/what inspired you to become a Lich, and who is currently coaching you along.

>A family friend/distant relative.
>A complete stranger.
>Your father.
>The ghost of a failed Lich.
>Write-in.

And, lastly, give yourself a name, and a backstop if you want to. The reply with the most replies is the one that gets chosen. Feel free to ask me any questions.

On a trip through the woods we ran across a strange book, and once we touched it a ghosted showed up who won't stop hassling us until we get god enough to give him a new body.

Okay, two votes for the city, two votes for being taught by your father, and two votes for necromancy. If we don't get a second vote for one of the careers, or another suggestion altogether, I'll choose one that's been suggested randomly.

As much as I like all three, Voodoo sounds most original.

Well, now it's an even tie.

1-10 is Voodoo, 11-20 is Necromancy.

Alright, Necromancy and Merchant were chosen, so we're using those.

“Hey, Daelag! You back there?” You look up, closing the lid on the box in front of you, and hear the sound of beads clacking as Chester and Madeleine enter your storeroom. Maddy immediately takes a seat behind your desk, and Chester approaches you, frowning slightly.
“I’m busy right now, you hooligans. Leave me alone.” You start to turn back to your work, scowling, but Chester pushes at your shoulder, spinning you back around to face him.
“We know, but we figured that this was important enough to bother you. Someone was killed earlier today.” You raise one eyebrow and open your mouth, but before you can speak, Chester continues. “I don’t remember where they said that it happened, but a few eye witnesses said that they saw the body get up and walk away. You didn’t have anything to do with it, did you?”
You take a step back so that you don’t have to look up to make eye contact with your younger brother, still scowling, and cross your arms.
“I’ve been in the shop all day, Chester. Besides, if I had done it, I would have warned you both to stay at home beforehand. Also, if it was me, I wouldn’t have done it in broad daylight.” Chester nods, now slightly embarrassed.
“I know, I know, I just figured that I would ask. But, uh, it’s… People are panicking, and they’re calling for another trial. You’re gonna be okay, right?... You and Dad both?” Your scowl fades into a slight frown upon seeing your younger brother’s worried expression.
“I can’t speak for our father, but I’ll be fine. Have you heard anybody calling names?”
Chester lists off a few names, then pauses. Madeleine calls over, finishing for him.
“A few people are suspicious of you and Dad both.”
You take a moment to collect your thoughts, and think about what your next action should be.
>Send a message to your father, asking if he had something to do with the occurrence.
>Reassure your siblings that your father would never do something so reckless, and that if he did, he would have covered his tracks.
>Get the names of the people who are suspicious of you.
>Ask if your siblings had talked to your father about it yet.
>Close the shop, and track down the risen undead, then attempt to trace it back to its necromancer. If there’s another aspiring Lich anywhere nearby, you need to squash the competition as soon as possible.
>>

After a few moments of thinking, you retrieve a pen and a scrap of paper. You write down your message, fold the scrap of paper into a square, and then hand it to Chester. Chester starts to unfold the sheet, but you slap at his hands, sternly telling him not to.
“Take that to Father, and tell him it’s from me. It’s about a totally unrelated issue, and it’s none of your business. Can I trust you not to read it?”
Chester starts to nod, and you hurriedly turn him around, then push him towards the exit. Before Chester can say anything else, you’ve pushed him out of the shop entirely, and are returning to your work. After several minutes of silence, you remember something, and look over at your sister, who is now sleeping in your chair. You sigh, shake your head, and return to your work.
A few hours later, you finish taking stock, then walk back to the front of your storeroom. Madeleine is still sleeping peacefully.
>Wake her up, and get her to help you close up the shop.
>Gently wake her up, and tell her that she ought to go home, because it’s getting late.

I'll come up with a compromise.))

You walk up front, and silently place the chairs on top of their respective tables. You walk around the whole store, going through your usual routine, but skip over a few of the easier tasks, like turning the 'Open' plaque around, drawing the blinds, etc. After the wares on display are covered, you head back to the storeroom, and lightly tap Madeleine's stomach until her eyes sleepily open. You tell her to go see what still needs to be done up front, and that you'll take her home when she's finished. She nods slowly a few times, then stands and shuffles towards the front of the store. Several moments later, she calls back to you.
"All finished, Daelag. Let's go home."
You make your way through the now darkened store, link your arm through your sister's, and head towards home, after locking the door behind you.

After Madeleine is awake enough to be alert, she makes a displeased noise.
"It's a lot quieter than it should be, big brother "
You dismiss her as paranoid, and ruffle her hair. You arrive at the house a few moments later, and bump into Chester as he sprints out of the house. Before you can ask what the rush is, he says, "Dad is gone!"

>Tell your siblings to wait inside, and that you'll go find your father.
>Take Madeleine, tell Chester to stay put in case he comes back, and go search for your father.

"Calm down, Chester. He's probably just going for a walk. Wait inside with Madeleine, and I'll go find him. Don't forget to lock the door, alright?" You kiss both of their foreheads, then usher them inside and shut the door. You wait for the click of the lock before turning around, and glancing up and down the street. 'What is that crazy old bastard doing?' you wonder to yourself.

>Head back to the shop, maybe he wanted to talk to you in person, and you just took different routes.

Alright, it's gonna be a coinflip.

1-10 is Go back to the shop,
11-20 is ask the neighbors.

>>957143
(I flipped an actual coin, because I couldn't see the results of the roll.)
You walk over, and knock at your neighbor's door. You knock again, more incessantly, and you hear a muffled, 'Go away!' from within the house. You walk over to your other neighbor's house, and knock again. Again, no answer at first. Growing angry, you start to walk across the street to ask the resident that lives in the house directly opposite your's. As you step onto the porch, you look up, and see that there is a man-sized hole in the door. You peek through it, and see the resident of the house, in pieces and smeared across the walls. You look around some more, and see that the wall opposite the door had a second hole in it. Looking through that hole, you can see straight through the house.

You take a few steps backwards, realizing how dangerous the situation is. The sound of something eating something else reaches your ears, and you turn, running as fast as you can to the garrison.

Several minutes later, you're standing on the porch of your house, watching as a dozen knights step into the house. A battle between the knights, and whatever else was behind the house ensues. You listen intently, and smile when you hear the dying squeal of a ghoul. You hear the surviving knights rejoice, and are just about to return to your search when you hear one of the knights call out, "Hey, there's another one!"
You hear the sounds of several pairs of feet landing in the grass, and then another shorter fight. The knights, tired out from their first scuffle, all fall before the onslaught of ghouls. You wait a few seconds, and then two glowing red eyes appear, staring at you through your neighbor's house.
>Get the fuck out of there, try to lead them away from the house.
>Retreat into the house.
>Try to resurrect a few of the knights, but from this distance, it's going to be a challenge.

Knowing that you won't be able to fight off the ghouls by yourself, you attempt to resurrect the knights. Several of them rise, and the rest just start to shake. The ghouls, despite being resurrected themselves, are greatly confused by the knights getting back up. They sniff and prod at the risen knights, and start to harass them, pushing them around and making threatening gestures. One of the knights breaks away while the ghouls are distracted, and makes his way over to you at a sluggish pace. When he arrives, you kneel beside him, and begin a more complex ritual. When you're done, you shakily stand, and wipe at the sweat on your forehead. You look up, and see the ghouls forming a semi-circle around the porch, closing in and waiting for the perfect moment to strike. The wight at your feet slowly rises, his legs much more steady than your's. You whisper your commands, and the wight's eyes blaze, milky white. The greater undead lumbers off of the porch, and approaches the ghoul at the front of the pack. The ghoul, thinking that it understands what this opponent is, reaches out to shove the wight. Touching the wight temporarily paralyzes the ghoul, and the animal-like zombie freezes in place. The wight takes a hold of the ghoul by the neck, and, with supernatural strength, pops the ghoul's head off with a flick of its thumb. The wight roars, letting out a sound that shouldn't have been possible to produce with human vocal chords, startling the ghouls that had been staring intently. Several of them flee. The remaining ghouls, either stupid or brave, all pounce, making the same mistake that their brother did. Whenever a patch of bare ghoul skin brushes against the wight's bare skin, the ghoul freezes, dropping like dead weight. The wight allows each of the ghouls to bounce harmlessly off of him, then sets about destroying their heads before the paralysis wears off. You watch, slightly surprised that your plan was so effective, then collapse from exhaustion. The last thing you see is the wight crumbling to dust, then blowing away on the breeze.
You awaken some time kater, looking up into Chester's eyes. "W-We have a big problem. A big, big problem." You hear, rather than see, the angry mob gathered in the street. You slowly sit up, then look over at your townspeople.

"Chester, go on back inside. I'll take care of this." Chester does as he's told, and shuts the door behind him, but you know that he immediately moves to the window, and stares out.
"I can explain!"
Several people call out, "We don't want to hear it," and the rest of the croud lets out an incoherent yell. Your heart sinks, and, you feel like the same several people yell, "Lynch him!"
"No, p-please don't lynch me just ye-"
"Bind him up, drag him down the street!"
'Did they rehearse this,' you wonder to yourself, and step down the porch, prepared to go peacefully, but the crowd lets out a collective gasp, and takes a collective step back. You furrow your brows, and wave one hand. Most of the townspeople cower, and you jump forward. Several people scream and run away. You hear the sound of several swords being drawn, and three off-duty nights step out of the crowd, leveling their swords at you. 'That was a bad idea.'
You slowly raise your hands, surrendering.
The knights sheath their swords, and a few villagers surge forward with newfound confidence. A noose is slipped around your neck, and pulled tight, and then the villagers begin to lead you down the road. You hang your head, worried about how you're going to get yourself out of this absolute goatfuck.

'M-Maybe... The ghouls can help me?...' You mentally probe outwards, searching for the ghouls. Almost immediately, you connect to one of them. Then another. And then another. You connect with a couple more, before you realize that you're mentally connected to more ghouls than you saw fleeing last night. You let out a pulse regardless, and every ghoul in the city starts to wake up from their slumber. You know that they're going to be coming soon. How do you proceed?

That plan didn't work. You think you can hear a ghoul sniffing around somewhere nearby.

"There are monsters, on their way here right now!" Several heads swivel to look at you, and the townie you were speaking with a second ago knocks you over the back of the head with something.
"I told you to shut up!" Several people start to murmur to each other, and one person speaks up.
"Come on now, at least let him talk. Now, what did you say about monsters?" Immediately after the man finishes speaking, a ghoul leaps off of a nearby roof, and lands on top of him. The man is killed by the impact, but the ghoul tears into him regardless, before turning and pouncing on a second townie. Several people turn and flee, and run into the other ghouls as they arrive.

As soon as the ghoul landed, your rope was released, and you stumbled forward, landing in the dirt. A visceral spray of blood coats your back, and the side of your head. You lay perfectly still as the slaughter continues, and screw your eyes shut when the sounds of humans dying stops. A ghoul, finished with its meal, drops the body of one of the off-duty knights, and it lands on your back. You unintentionally start, or let out a slight noise, and the ghoul lowers its face to the ground to stare at you. You do your best to remain still, again, but the ghoul is persistent. You can feel its warm breath washing over your face as it stares at you.

Reaching out, you connect to the ghoul again, and start to probe inwards. Your presence slides into the creature, and just as you're about to take control, the magic animating the ghoul begins to fade. Where your presence touches it, the magic fades, until you're the only thing animating the ghoul. The stress of maintaining the creature's half-life is too much, and you retreat into yourself. The ghoul drops, and several other ghouls perk up, looking over at you. You're start to sweat.

>Run. Your knees are a little shaky, but maybe you can get away?...

You hold your breath, and try to stay as still as possible. You wait for what feels like hours in nervous tension, before you feel yourself starting to black out, and let out your breath in a huff. A sigh if relief comes from nearby, and you hear your father say, "Thank the gods! I thought you were actually dead!" You open your eyes, surprised, and look around to see the ghouls kneeling in a circle all the way around you, with your father standing a few feet away from you, in front of the ghouls.

Now, all of them answer to me." Your father looks around, surveying the damage that his ghouls dealt. He whistles, and all of them set about cleaning up their messes, and piling up the bodies, then climbing onto the pile themselves. Your father waves his hand when they're finished, and the entire pile ignites. You open your mouth to ask about your siblings, and your father waves dismissively.

You gesture for them to follow you, then set off towards your shop. Both siblings follow close behind you, and wait outside as you gather your things. You come back out, and pass a few of the thicker tomes to Chester, and let Madeleine carry the thinnest one so that she feels like she's helping. You set back off towards the meeting place, and are almost to your destination when you hear the sound of hushed voices. You push both children back, and then drop one of your tones. You pick it up, then step around the corner, leading your siblings along behind you.

Your father is standing there, by himself now, with his hands behind his back.
"My, you got ready fast. Are you ready to go?"
You start to nod, but Chester suddenly butts in.
"Where are we going?"
The glare that your father sends at Chester chills you to the core. The soft voice that your father speaks with next scares you even more.
"All in good time, my boy. All in good time."
Your father turns around, and starts to walk off. You glance at Chester, who is frowning, then look over at your father.

>"Father, it's a good question. Where are we going?"

You start to follow after your father, shaking your head slightly. The three of you follow him to the gates of the city, where you find the guards slaughtered at their post. You move to block Madeleine's view of the carnage, and scowl at your father's back for not giving you a heads-up. The four of you make your way out of the town, and stop when you're standing on the dirt path just outside the walls of the city. Your father turns to the three of you, and crosses his arms.
"Well, kids? Which way?"

"I say West, towards the mountains," you say. Madeleine nods in agreement, but Chester doesn't give his opinion. Your father nods, and sets off down the road. You follow him, with Madeleine on your heels, and Chester lagging behind.

First, update post.

Four years have passed since your family moved West, into the mountains. Madeleine is now 16, Chester is now 19, and you’ve just turned 23. Your father has become more and more reclusive, and has only spoken to you once in the past two months. He told you that he’s taught you everything he knows, but you believe he might have ulterior motives. Moving placed your family into a financial crisis, and you were only able to afford a house with three bedrooms.
Chester has become a miner, works long hours, and always comes home exhausted and dirty. He’s also grown generally distrustful of your father, and goes out of his way to avoid him. Chester spends most of his time mining, which leaves you alone with Madeleine most of the time.
Madeleine has taken to selling her body to supplement your family’s meager income, despite both you and Chester constantly telling her that you make enough money as it is. She spends most of her time with you, either loitering around your ramshackle little shop, or hanging around in your shared room. Most of the time, you sleep on the chair and allow her to sleep on your bed, but at times she won’t let you sleep until you get in the bed with her. As of late, you’ve begun saving up for a second bed.
As of right now, you’ve essentially mastered Necromancy, and can raise masses of simple undead with little effort. Groups of ghouls are also possible for you, and small groups of wights are possible, though it causes great physical and mental stress. Skeletons, though, are still a challenge for you. You have trouble preparing them, and keeping them animated for extended periods of time. You’ve been working on some kind of binding symbol, that not only holds the skeleton together, but is also capable of producing magic to animate them. You’ve had little success with this so far.
You’ve also learned a good bit of elemental magics, wind, air, fire, etc., and a good deal of voodoo. You also have a great knowledge of divination, and most of your fortunes have come true, so far.
>>
A glass bottle suddenly being placed on the desk beside your book you makes you jump, and you look over your shoulder, to see Madeleine standing just behind you. You let out a sigh of relief, and lean back in your chair as Madeleine hops up onto your desk. You notice that she’s wearing one of the short dresses that you told her to get rid of, and your brows furrow. You grab the bottle, pop the cork, and take a whiff. Just as you suspected, it’s a bottle of incredibly expensive spirits. You know, because you used to sell this exact brew. You set the bottle back down on your desk, cross your arms, and glare up at Madeleine.
“Madeleine, you know very well that I don’t drink while I’m working. And, where did you get the money to pay for this?”
Madeleine’s face reddens, and she looks away. You know exactly how she made the money.
>Tell her that the next time she needs money, to just ask for it.
>Get mad, and tell her that she needs to stop whoring herself out for money.
>Shake your head in disapproval.
>Sigh, then take a break from your work to drink the bottle with her.

Not wanting to make her uncomfortable, you let out an exasperated sigh, and push your chair a few inches away from your desk.
"I don't suppose you brought glasses?" Madeleine shakes her head, away you rifle through your desk drawers, until you find a pair of glasses that you got a good deal on. You pour Madeleine's glass first, then your's, then take a sip. You swish it around in your mouth for a few moments before swallowing. It doesn't taste great, but you don't want to seem ungrateful, so you smile at Madeleine and finish the glass. She smiles, proud of herself, before starting to sip at her own glass. You take a moment to think, before asking a question.
>"Have you talked to father lately?"
>"Do you know how Chester is doing?"
>"So, did you do anything today besides buy this wine?"

"So, did you do anything today besides but this wine?" Madeleine fidgets slightly, before shaking her head.
"I just... stopped by the tavern, but other than that, no." You nod slightly, trying not to show your distaste.
"And, have you talked to father lately?" Again, Madeleine shakes her head in a silent 'no'. "I didn't think so, but I figured I might as well ask." You drum your fingers on the arm rest of your chair for a few moments, before pouring yourself another glass.
"Well, did you hear any gossip while you were at the tavern?" Madeleine nods, and takes a moment to remember before speaking.
"Well, I heard that some of the miners have gone on strike, and are refusing to work until they get a pay raise. It's too dangerous down there to be working for what they're making now."

>"Is Chester one of the miners that's gone on strike?"
>"Okay. Did you see any unfamiliar faces in the tavern?"

"Is Chester one of the miners that's gone on strike? Is there anything making it more dangerous than mining usually is?" Madeleine shakes her head after hearing the first question, her eyes widening slightly, and she starts to speak before you're finished asking the second question.
"Oh, no, no. He loves his job, and he would never risk losing it. He's happy with what he's got, but, about the danger... I heard that the reason they're going on strike is because of something that happened today, and that he was right in the middle of it. Some kind of attack? I think they said it was just some lunatic that got lost in the mines, but I'm not sure." She shrugs slightly. "He'll be coming home soon enough, so you can ask him yourself. But, we''ve got a little while to ourselves. Is there anything you want to do?"

>"I was just going to get back to work."
>"Aren't we going to finish this bottle?"
>Shrug.
>>
>>962458
>Shrug.

"Have we got anything to cook in the house? Let's drink and cook"
>>
>>962483
You shrug, then say "Have we got anything to cook in the house? Let's drink and cook." Your sister slowly shakes her head, frowning.
"All we have is a side of steak, and we're saving it for dinner."

>Prepare it anyways, don't wait for Chester.
>Hold off on cooking it.
>>

>Hold off on cooking it.

>>
>>962513
>Hold off on cooking it.
>>
>>962517
>>962518
"Yeah, then let's not cook it today." You sigh, and refill your glass again. You pull your chair back up to your desk, and look down at the sheet of paper in front of you, covered with half-finished runes. Madeleine leans over to look as well.
"What are these for?"
>"Magic stuff, don't worry about it."
>"Ah, just something I've been working on..."
>>
>>962537
>"Ah, just something I've been working on..."

>>
>>962537
>"Ah, just something I've been working on..."
>>
>>962552
>>962540
"Ah, just something I've been working on." You briefly explain what the rune is intended to do, and how the separate lines each have their own meaning and affect the effects of the rune. Madeleine listens intently, very interested, even when you start rambling about the finer points of resurrecting skeletons. She chuckles when you're finished speaking, and crosses her legs.
"Is that all?"
Just before you answer, you hear the front door, and then quietly close. You hear someone knock over a chair in the living room, then Chester quietly whispering, "Fuck, fuck, fuck," to himself as he rearranges the furniture.

>Call out, "Chester, come back here!"
>Walk to your door, and call him back.
>Keep talking with Madeleine.
>>
>>962584
>Walk to your door, and call him back.

Let's be gentle with it "Hey, I heard something is going on at the mines, you run into any trouble?"
>>
>>962590
You stand, and walk to the doorway. You lean on the door frame, and gently call out.
"Hey, Chester, I heard something is going on in the mines. You didn't run into any trouble, did you?"
Chester looks up at you in the middle of picking up one of the chairs, and his eyes narrow. He sets the chair back down, and starts walking towards you.
"Are you serious? Don't play dumb with me, Daelag. I know damn well what that thing was, and I know damn well who made it. What the hell are you trying to accomplish by letting a ghoul loose in the mines? People could have died, you jackass. I, could have died!" When he steps into the light produced by the lantern in your room, you see that his upper arm is covered in bandages.
You raise your eyebrows, and start to speak, but Chester cuts you off.
"I don't want to hear it, you son of a bitch. Learn to clean up the messes you make."
He turns around, and starts making his way towards his room.

>"Chester, let me look at your wound."
>Forget about him.
>Tell him that you didn't have anything to do with the ghoul.
>>
>>962626
>"Chester, let me look at your wound."
>Tell him that you didn't have anything to do with the ghoul.

Need I remind you that there is someone we both know who let's ghouls run rampant and it certainly isn't me.

>>962626
>tell him you have nothing to do with the ghoul

Can i add:" you know full well that i am traumatized of those stinkin ghouls"?
>>
>>962633
>>962636
"Chester, I need to look at your wound." Chester stops, but doesn't turn around. "And, need I remind you that we both know someone who has let ghouls run loose in the past?"
Chester spins on his heel, glaring.
"Father hasn't been out of his room in weeks, Daelag. I suppose he's just chucking spells out of his window?" Chester starts to undo the tourniquet regardless, and walks back towards you. The wound is definitely a bite wound, and the skin around it is a pallid grey color. You turn to Madeleine, frowning, and tell her to go get a pail of water.
You sit Chester down on your chair, and start inspecting the wound with your pencil.
Chester huff angrily, and asks, "Am I going to turn into a zombie?"

>Explain to him that zombie bites turning people into zombies is a myth, and that the worst he'll get is an infection.
>Ignore him, and focus on the bite.
>>
>>962690
>Explain to him that zombie bites turning people into zombies is a myth, and that the worst he'll get is an infection.

I wouldn't put it past Father to chuck random spells out the window
>>
>>962690
>Explain to him that zombie bites turning people into zombies is a myth, and that the worst he'll get is an infection.
>>
>>962694
"No, Chester. Being bitten by a zombie doesn't turn you into a zombie. That myth exists because people would be bitten by a zombie, die of infection, and then the necromancer would raise them from the dead when he got to the body. Too many coinici-" Not paying attention, you accidentally poke a little too hard, and the wound starts to bleed again.
Chester grits his teeth, and mumbles, "son of a bitch," as you try to staunch the flow of blood. You tear off a piece of his shirt to stop the flow, but it's quickly soaked through. You reach over to your desk blindly, grab something, and press it to the wound. When you realize that you grabbed your worksheet, you furrow your brows, and yell, "Madeleine, I need that bucket!"
Startled, Madeleine, who had just walked through the door, nearly drops the bucket. She manages to save it, but accidentally splashes some of the water on you and Chester, throughly soaking your worksheet. You wipe water out of your eyes, crumple the paper, and throw it onto the ground. You angrily take the bucket and the rag from Madeleine, then set about cleaning Chester's wounds. Madeleine whimpers, and Chester tightens up, shifting slightly.

>"Chester, stop moving!"
>"Madeleine, be quiet!"
>Silently fume.
>>
>>962724
>Silently fume.
>>
>>962724

>Silently fume.

Deep breaths
>>
>>962733
>>962737
You grit your teeth to keep from exploding, and slowly finish cleaning out the wound. When you're done, you set the bucket down, and drop the rag into it. The color around Chester's wound is slowly returning to normal. You wipe your hands off on your pants, and pull the lantern off of the hook hanging from the ceiling.
"Where are you going, big brother?"
"I'm going down into the mines, to check it out. If there are any other ghouls down there, I'll get rid of them."
"W-Well, take me with you. I might be able to help you."

>"Fine, but if anything happens, you run back here as fast as you can."
>"Absolutely not, you stay here with Chester."
>>
>>962747
how can you help me?
>>
>>962769
"I can carry the lantern, so that you've got two free hands."
>>
>>962747
>"Fine, but if anything happens, you run back here as fast as you can."
>>
>>962797
"Fine, but if anything happens, you run back here as fast as you can." Madeleine hurriedly takes the lantern from you, and practically skips to the front door. You turn around, make eye contact with Chester, then turn and follow Madeleine.

A few moments later, you and Madeleine stand side by side at the mine entrance. She pulls your thick coat tighter around herself, and holds the lantern out a little further.
"It sure is dark down there..."
"It's not too late to go back."
"No no, I'm going. We're going. Let's go." She starts walking down into the mine. You hurry after her, and step in front of her, so that you're leading the way. You walk in silence for a few moments, before you hear something scratching at rocks somewhere. You think it's nearby, but with the cave echoing, you can't tell. You whisper to Madeleine to dim the lantern, and she turns a nob on its side, until the tiny windows are mostly closed, and only a thin beam of light shoots out. You listen intently, but don't hear the noise again.

>Turn back, it's too dangerous.
>Keep going, it was probably just a mouse.
>>
>>962836

Is it possible to reach ouot with any sort of magical sight or sense that might help identify necromantic sources?
>>
>>962853
that's certainly possible
>>
>>962857

I vote for that then, maybe it'll turn up more information for us
>>
>>962862
You slowly reach out, probing for any resurrected dead. You find the residual energy of something that you assume is the dead ghoul, but you also sense something odd. A vague buzzing, coming from all around you, the walls, the roof of the cave, the ground beneath your feet. You open your eyes, and take the lantern from Madeleine, and quickly open it back up to full blast. You inspect the walls to either side of you, the roof above you, and the ground below you, but you don't see anything out of the ordinary.

>Send Madeleine back, and press onwards.
>Keep going, but stay on the lookout.
>Retreat.

>>962878
>>Retreat.
>>
>>962904
You shake your head slowly, and turn around. You take a hold of Madeleine's arm, and start to lead her back, when the entire mine shaft begins to rumble. You both start to run towards the distant entrance. As you get near, the entrance just... closes, like a door. You both hurriedly start pushing at it, trying to reopen it, but the solid wall of stone doesn't budge. What do you do?

>Blow a hole in the wall, and risk collapsing the mine shaft.
>Try freezing a door in the wall, then heat it up fast enough to shatter it.
>Write-in.
>>
>>962935
>Write-in.

Turn back down the shaft, keep Madeleine behind us as we now have a secure backing that probably won't change without a lot a rumbling to notify us
>>
>>962990
You turn around, and get Madeleine begind you, preparing for an attack. A loud thump echoes up from the mineshaft, startling the both of you. The thump is followed by a second thump a few moments later, and then another thump. The deep thumps increase in tempo, until it sounds as if a creature far larger than yourself is sprinting up the mineshaft.

>Prepare for a fight.
>Just wait.
>Turn back around, and find a way out of the mine.
>>
>>963027
>Prepare for a fight.
>>
>>963055
The thumps slow down as they grow louder, and you frown slightly. You hold the lantern up higher, and prepare your right hand for spellcasting. Suddenly, a face that appears to be made of stone pokes into the light, at eye-level with you, and stares intently. A vague dark shape stands behind the stone creature. What do you do?

>Attack the golem.
>Relax slightly. It doesn't seem hostile.
>Stay on guard, and tell Madeleine to find some way to get outside.
>>
>>963098

Attempt to open up communication while staying on guard, "Hello, can you understand me?"
>>
>>963121
The Golem grunts at your question. Either it doesn't understand, or doesn't want to talk. Maybe it's just making sure you don't run away until something worse arrives?

Same choices,
>Attack the golem.

>Stay on guard, and tell Madeleine to find some way to get outside.

>Stay on guard, and tell Madeleine to find some way to get outside.

>>963201
"Madeleine. Try to get us through that wall." Madeleine nods, then remembers that you can't see her, and says, "I will." She lightly knocks at the wall, and the golem's mouth opens far wider than it should. It lets out an ear-splitting screech that echoes for several moments afterwards, then closes its mouth, and continues staring at you. You shake your head to clear it, and wait a moment for the ringing in your ears to stop. Madeleine covers her ears with her hands and lets out a moan of distress, before knocking her head against the wall.
The golem obviously doesn't want you to get outside.

>Wait for this thing's owner to show up.
>Attempt to kill it. (Roll)
>>
>>963222
>Wait for this thing's owner to show up.

Nothing for it then
>>
>>963495
You lower your guard, and the magic gathering around your hand dissipates. You turn around, and check on Madeleine to make sure she's alright. Her movements are around little sluggish, and her eyes won't focus on anything, but other than that she seems okay. You slowly push her to a seated position, then sit beside her, huddling for warmth. You wait.
You're suddenly awoken by a deep, baritone voice, yelling, "Yeah, 'at's him! 'At's the necromancer! I can smell it on his clothes!"
"I can smell it too, you idiot," a second, deeper voice answers. "But how can we be sure that he is the right necromancer?"
"What do you mean, the 'right' necromancer? 'Ere's only one of 'em, innit?"
The second voice does not answer. You feel a thick finger poking at your cheek, and you let out a mewl of protest, still have asleep. You hear a 'shh'ing noise, presumably from the second voice to the first.

>Pretend to still be asleep.
>Open your eyes.

>>963565
>Open your eyes.

>>
>>963597
You open your eyes, and see a rather strange sight. A dwarf is standing right in front of you, and an orc is squatting just to your right. The orc panicks, and reels back to punch you, but the dwarf stops him with a gesture.
"Stop. Necromancer, do you know any other necromancers?"

>Lie, you don't want to incriminate your father

She stands as well, looking much healthier than she did before she fell asleep. The dwarf lightly pats the orc's back, and they turn around, then head back down into the cavern. You lead Madeleine home, frowning slightly at the now intense darkness. It dossn't strike you that it's at dark as it is because you forgot the lantern until you're standing on your doorstep.

You shake your head, too tired to go back. You unlock the door, and step inside, pulling Madeleine with you. By the time you're finished, Madeleine is climbing up the stairs, heading towards your shared room. You take a moment to contemplate your sleeping situation.

>Sleep on the chair in your room. It'll be uncomfortable, but if Maddie turns out to be concussed, you'll be there for her, just in case.

i didn't plan on having sister fucking in my good christian lich quest but i suppose this is the only course of action, and i guess it thickens the plot?))

You sigh, shaking your head again, and quickly follow Madeleine up the stairs. She starts to strip before she reaches your door, and you avert your eyes, slightly uncomfortable. When you reach your room, she's already curled up beneath the covers, and you sigh with relief. You change into your sleeping robe and slide beneath the covers with her. You lay awake for some time, staring up at the ceiling and thinking, before you close your eyes and attempt to fall asleep. You open your eyes a few minutes later, and look over at Madeleine, who is shivering incessantly. You sigh, and roll onto your side, then poke her between her shoulder blades. She rolls over to face you, still shivering, and you hear her teeth chattering.
"What's wrong, Madeleine?"
"J-Just c-cold."
"Then don't sleep in the nude."
"I always w-wake up t-too early, sweating, when I w-wear clothes to bed."
"Do you want me to go get some more blankets?"
"No, no, d-don't go through all that trouble for m-me."
You sigh in exasperation again, knowing exactly what she's doing.
"I suppose you want me to warm you up?" You ask, in a monotone voice.
"What? N-No, no... Yes."
You roll on top of your sister, frowning.
Eh, you probably weren"t going to get any sleep anyways.

Some questions here
Chester and father know that we are banging her? What they think of it if they know? Does chester bangs her too?
And in other subject i would like to known more about the city. Does ut have some kind of mayor? How are the law enforcers here if there are any? Who hire the miners?
>>
>>965119
The first answer is no, so the other two questions are null.

Yes there is a mayor, and the garrison is pretty good at their job; lots of mountain bandits around here. An old man, a distant relative of the mayor, owns the land and hires the miners.

Update soon.
>>
>>965156

I thought its just a sibling cuddling
>>
>>965168

>>
You wake up the next morning, feeling like shit, just in time to see a horse fly by your window. You bolt upright, staring, but see nothing else. You stand, wincing when your feet hit the cold floor, and hurry over to the window. You open it, and a gust of cold air blows in, but you ignore the cold and lean outside. Looking down, you see the entirety of the local garrison doing their damnedest to restrain a golem, the same golem from the cave last night. The ropes they have just aren’t strong enough to hold the golem back, and they’re being yanked around like children. How do you proceed?
>Run out there naked; it’ll save the most time, but it’s ice cold out there.
>Take a few seconds to put on your robe.
>Get dressed completely.
>Write-in.
>>
>>965188
>Get dressed completely.

As it stands, I don't think they know it's here for us. I'm sure they can survive a minute or two for us to get decent. I hope.
>>
>>965215
"Damnit, damnit," you whisper to yourself as you hurriedly get dressed. You're just fastening your pants when Madeleine sits up, looking more tired than you feel.
"Mhm. What's... going on?"

>"Nothing, go back to sleep."
>"I've got to go take care of some stuff."
>Grunt.
>>
>>965233
>"I've got to go take care of some stuff, go back to sleep."
>>
>>965249
"Just a little business that needs to be taken care of, lay back down." Madeleine frowns slightly, but does as she's told, and you finish getting dressed. You hurry down the stairs, stumble, and fall to the bottom. You get up, rubbing your back, and limp outside, looking around. The garrison is nowhere to be found, and the golem is apparently throwing a temper tantrum. It swings one of its stone arms, leveling one of the houses across the street, then turns on its heel and stares at you. It produces the same ear-splitting shriek from last night, before swinging the same giant stone arm at you.

Alright, let's hope I don't choke, shall we?
>>
>>965265
You sidestep, just barely avoiding the blow, and realize that you can't afford repairs to the house. You attempt to raise a wall of stone to protect the house, and partially succeed. The wall isn't high enough to stop the punch completely, but it does slow the swing, and clip the golem's second knuckles. The house suffers very minor damage. The golem retracts its hand, gives a second for the cracks to close, before pulling a piece of timber from the wreckage of the house across the street. You have a brief moment to attack, or flee, when the golem is turned away from you.

i'll go easy on you this time, but next time, only roll once per person.
You hurriedly wave your hands, attempting to freeze the golem, but your form is sloppy, and you only manage to freeze its face. The golem, seemingly unaffected, swings the timber pole like a sword, and catches you in the side just below your armpit. You fly into the porch covering, leaving a you-shaped burrow in the wood. Your head rebounds off of the shingles, and you slowly slide out of the burrow, dazed. You fall about nine feet to the ground, and slowly raise yourself to your hands and knees. As you stand, you feel a sharp pain in your side. It feels like a few ribs are broken, and you're a little dizzy, but still functioning, for the most part. The golem prepares for another swing.

This time, roll twice, once for your action, and once for the golem's attack. I should have done this last time, but I wasn't thinking.

Hmm, we would probably know earth magic. Maybe transmute the ground beneath him into sand and drag him down?
>>
>>965321
that would have worked, at least temporarily.
______________________________________

You recollect yourself, and drop back down to your knees, slapping your hands onto the ground. You attempt to turn the ground beneath the golem, and partially succeed, managing to transmute a small circle just beneath his left foot. The golem suddenly jerks as his foot disappears into the ground, and the swing goes wide, missing you by several feet. The makeshift weapon arcs around, and slams into the dirt, sinking in nearly as far as the golem's foot did. While the golem struggles, you take a moment to recollect your thoughts, and shake your head to clear it.

i'll go ahead and tell you, that's a mistake. the golem is made of stone, remember? if i were you, i would heat up his frozen face, until it explodes
>>
>>965345
I would have figured that the sudden amount of stone added to its leg would fuck up its balance and cause it to essentially be stuck in the ground, but I guess I can see why. I'll go with hurling some fire spells at the face until it shatters, then.

Rolled 88 + 20 (1d100 + 20)

Here's another roll if you need it. Otherwise, feel free to disregard this and use the old one.
>>
>>965348

You rise to your feet, a little mad about your back-to-back failures, and thrust your hand outwards. A fireball coalesces, then shoots out, slamming into the golem's frozen face. The sudden expansion of the stone causes it to shatter, and the golem lets out amother shriek, this one of pain. The stone monster falls back, its foot catches at the edge of the sand pit, and its leg snaps just above where the ankle should be. It attempts to pull itself backwards, repeatedly letting out what sounds like whines.

Whilst thinking about how to transport the whimpering golem, you hear a cry of outrage, and a green figure shoots past you, sprinting towards the golem. The orc from the mine kneels beside the golem, cradling its partially destroyed head.
"What've 'ey done to you? Oh, my baby! My baby!"
You sense the dwarf's presence at your side, and hear him making a 'tsk'ing noise.
"I don't know what got into him. He's been restless since last night, and this morning, he was gone. He didn't kill too many people, did he?"

>"A few knights, nobody important."
>"No, but he nearly killed me!"

"Just a few knights, don't worry." You look down at the dwarf, and he nods slightly.
"Good, good. I'm sure he would tear himself up if he killed anybody really important."
The orc lets out another cry of, "My baby!" and continues blubbering.
The dwarf shakes his head, sighing.
"I'll take both of them home. Thank you for keeping him out of trouble. If there's anything you need, contact me."

>"Oh no, you don't owe me anything."
>"Would you mind if I poked around down in the mines? I might be able to find out what set him off."

"Mind if I poke around in the mines for a while? I might be able to figure out what set him off. Also, if you don't mind me asking, what goes into making a golem?"
"The mines are open to you, and no. Making a golem takes years of preparation, and I have a feeling that you won't be around for very much longer." The dwarf slowly walks over, and pats the orc's shoulder. The orc takes a few moments, before nodding and standing up, still sniffling. The dwarf and the orc help the golem to his now uneven feet, then start walking back to their mineshaft, the ground shaking beneath you slightly every time the golem takes a limping step. You sigh, shaking your head.

>Go back inside and check on Madeleine and Chester.

>>Go back inside and check on Madeleine and Chester.
>>
>>966733
You turn around, and head back into your house, careful to avoid any falling debris from the porch roofing. You clear your throat when you're standing in your living room.
"Chester! Madeleine!" Your brother almost immediately appears at the top of the stairs, and makes his way down. He sleepily grumbles, obviously roused from a nap, and mumbles that 'this had better be good'.
"I'm just taking a head count, Chester. You can sit in the chair."
Chester collapses into the chair, and immediately falls back asleep, snoring loudly.
Several minutes later, Madeleine appears at the top of the stairs wrapped up in the thin gossamer sheets off of your bed.
"Yeeeeees?"

>"I'm taking a head count, could you call father down here?"
>"Nevermind, you can lay back down."

"Ah, the house kind of got attacked, so I'm taking a head count."
"Kind of attacked?! You told me it was nothing!"
"Well, I didn't want you to-"
"No, be quiet! Now I'm mad, just because you lied to me!"
Madeleine disappears back into your room, and slams the door. You sigh, and make your way up the stairs, then down the hall to your father's room. You hesitate before knocking.

>Go apologize to Maddy, your father's probably fine.
>He's old and frail. Man up, and check on him.
>>
>>967698
>His old and shit, check on him

>>
>>967698
>>He's old and frail. Man up, and check on him.
>>
>>968395
>>968515
You hesitantly knock on the door. It creaks open. Peeking at what is visible, you can see that you father isn't inside, and that his notes are out on his desk.
>Go take a look.
>Shut the door.
>>
>>968549
>Go take a look.
Time for us to man up to our dad.
>>
>>968794
You swallow the lump in your throat, and push the door open. Light immediately floods the room, and you frown at what you see. Where you expected to see dark magic utensils, you see what you believe to be three gifts for you and your siblings, and nothing else in the room, besides the old man's desk and his bed. The only thing that might involve black magic in the room is your father's notes. Beside the old man's bed is a small cot, that doesn't look too comfortable, but is a much better alternative to sleeping on a chair, or sleeping with your sister. Lying on top of the cot is a folded, sparkling red dress. You run your fingers across the fabric, wondering where your father got the money to afford these things, when a strong scent catches your nose, and you turn around. On the corner of the old man's desk is a small bowl, filled with an unfamiliar paste. You lean over and take a sniff, and sure enough, it's the source of the smell. You scoop a little paste out with your finger, and it immediately starts to warm your skin. You frown more intently, thinking about how perfect it would be for Chester's sore back. Now you feel a little guilty about being nosey.

>Leave before you see anything else that you aren't supposed to see.
>Keep nosing around.
>>
>>968822
>Keep nosing around.
Start paging through his notes
>>
>968848
You shake your head, and reach over, picking up the sheet of notes. You leaf through them, scowling as you realize that they're written in a language you don'the understand. Several of the runes look familiar though, and right in the middle of a group of runes that can be used to give undead tasks without having to be there (i.e., patrol, stand guard, hunt, etc.), you spy one that you don't understand at all. You want to copy it down, and see what it does later, but if you take any paper, your father might realize that it's missing.

>Sketch it on the palm of your hand.
>Just try to remember it.
>>
>>968901
>Just try to remember it.
Then leave his room
>>
>>968957
You stare at the rune for a few moments, soaking in the details, and set the sheet back down, before you turn towards the door. A dark, opaque cloud slides into the room, and the door shuts behind it, flooding the room with darkness yet again. You freeze in place, panicking. Several moments later, you hear something sniff, and a voice reminiscent of your father's calls out.
"Is someone there?" The voice echoes, despite the room not being large enough for it to.
Beads of sweat form on your forehea

>"It's just me, Father."
>Say nothing.
>Bolt for the door.
>>
>>968980
>"It's just me, Father."
I came to see if the golem had disturbed you.
>>
>>968990
You try to steady your voice, and fail.
"It's... j-just, me father. The house was attacked, and I, ah... c-came to ch-"
A growl reaches your ears.
"And I suppose checking on me entails going through my things?"
"N-No, father-"
The door opens partially, only exposing your half of the room to the light from the hallway.
"Get out," your father's voice says, coming from the dark side of the room.
"Y-Yes, father," you say, hurrying out of his room. The door slams shut as you step across the threshold, hitting you in the back and sending you stumbling. You recover, and slowly make your way downstairs.
You make your way into your shop, and try to sketch the rune from memory. Your hands shake too much, and the details of the rune are fuzzy to you. You give up after several failed attempts, and accidentally snap the tip off of your quill pen.
"What happened up there?" Chester asks. You turn to look at him, and see him leaning against the doorframe.

>"I don't want to talk about it."
>"Nothing happened."
>Write-in.
>>
>>969022
>Write-in.
Ask him if he has saved up any money.
I worry about our future.
>>
>>969047
"Hmph. Have you been saving any money lately?"
"I save every penny I can, Daelag, you know that. Now answer the question."
"How much have you saved?"
"Not enough. Just answer the damned question."

>"I don't have to answer anything."
>"I would prefer to not talk about it."
>Tell him what happened, and what you found.
>Tell him what happened, but don't tell him about the gifts.
>>
>>969056
>Tell him what happened, and what you found.

>>
>>969065
((maybe two or three times in your entire life, and only when he was planning something like moving, or leaving you with extended family for a few months))

You tell Chester the events as you remember them, and about the gifts to the three of you. When you tell him about the paste, he absent-mindedly rubs his back.
"That sounds perfect for me..."
"I know. And you know why he's doing it?"
"Because he loves us?"
"No. He's gonna do something bad, and he doesn't want us to be mad at him. He's probably going on a trip, or something."
Chester frowns slightly.
"How is that a bad thing? We can take care of ourselves."
"He'll need some money for travelling. Could you afford a trip anywhere with the money that you have right now?"
"Uh... Probably not."
"Right. I couldn't, and neither could Madeleine, and all three of us have jobs. Father doesn't, as far as I know. He's probably going to ask for donations from us. That's going to out a big dent in all of our savings."
"Ah. I see..."
"Yeah. This is going to be a big problem. You'll have to start working more, Madeleine will have to start working more, and I'll have to raise my prices, which might have a negative effect on my business. I might even have to pick up a side job."
Chester sits in silence for a few moments.
"This is bad..."
"We also have to pay for repairs for the house."
You shake your head, sighing.
"Well, uh... maybe you could get a job in the mines?"

>Do it, and use magic to give yourself the upper hand, but run the risk of being caught.
>Do it legitimately.
>Don't do it. Another job might open up.
>>
>>969100
>Don't do it. Another job might open up.
I'm thinking taking up nercomantic enhanced hunting might be a better way to make money, plus we get to train our skillz.
>>
>>969134
"No, no. Do you know how much hunting brings in? Like, the cost of animal hides and such?"
Chester shakes his head.
"No. Have you ever even been hunting, Daelag? Maybe you ought to settle for something with less action, like digging graves."
You shrug slightly.
"I'll cross that bridge when we get to it."
Chester nods slightly, then turns, and walks off, presumably back to his room.
You sigh, and look down at your desk.

>Go into town and look for a job.
>Go into town and drink to forget your troubles.
>>
>>969184
>Go into town and look for
Graveyards and corpses, we might stink at hunting but I fink a gang of skellies might be good at it.
>>
>>969239
I'll give you a fair warning, you suck at raising skeletons. You have trouble keeping one moving, a gang of them would be impossible.

A gang of ghouls mightbe good for the job, though. You wanna try them?
>>
>>969246
I'd try them so long as animals couldn't smell necromancy and just rot.
That way we can lure some scavangers in and grab em once they start trying to eat.
>>
>>969279
Ghouls are more animal-like than zombies or wights. They know to approach from downwind, and they're fast enough to catch whatever they're hunting when they get close enough for the animal to smell them. Also, another warning, just taking the bodies isn't a good idea. Fresh meat works better, smells less, and is easier to explain. Like, if you get caught with a body that's recently dead, you can make it collapse and say you're taking it to a healer, or you might be able to pass it off as still being alive. You can't talk your way out of walking around with a rotten corpse.))

You sigh, and exit the house, heading towards the local cemetary. You stop just outside the gates, looking inside. Just as you're about to crack the lock on the gates, an unfamiliar voice speaks up from behind you.
"It's a bit late for mourning, don't you think?"
You start, and spin around. Standing just in front of you is a short woman, who looks to be in her early 30s or late 20s.
"Ah, I just... don't like coming here when people can see me. You know, I can't let people see me in my moments of weakness."
The woman nods, a skeptical look on her eyes.
"Mmhmm. Sure, sure. Either way, the cemetary's not open for mourners right now."
"Says who?"
"The owner of the cemetary, smart ass. And, you can't get in without my key."

>"I could get in if I really wanted to."
>"Well, could I get the key, then?"
>>
>>969341
"Oh yeah? Then where can I find him ma'am."
"There are no other graveyards around here right?"
If asked why explain our bro got attacked by a ghoul and we're on a necromancer clue hunt.
>>
>>969351
"Well, where can I find him?"
"The owner isn't a he. She's standing right in front of you." The woman sets her hands on her hips.
"Well, I need to get inside. My brother was attacked by a zombie, and I'm trying to find out who did it."
The woman narrows her eyes at you.
"If that's the case, you can come back tomorrow. The local garrison is probably already working on it, and they don't like civilians trying to do their job for them. If you just need to ask questions, about who has come and gone through my cemetery in the past few days, we could discuss it in private, but if you just want to poke around, you can come back tomorrow."

>Leave, and come back tomorrow.
>Go somewhere private, and interview her.
>>
>>969399
>Leave, and come back tomorrow.
Before dark take a stroll outside of town and look for anywhere we can store ghouls when not in use.
>>
>>969409
"Then I'll just come back tomorrow, ma'am." You turn and leave, but not before you see the woman's slightly downtrodden expression. You stroll around, looking for a good place to store corpses, and come up with nothing. Now frowning slightly, you call it a day and decide to head home.
_____________________________________
You wake up the next morning with your arms wrapped around Madeleine, and sigh before sitting up, then scooting over to the edge of the bed. You pull on the same pants from yesterday, lace up your boots, and stop before pulling on your shirt. You go through your drawers, searching for a different shirt to wear.

>Just wear the shirt from yesterday.
>Wear a similar shirt.
>Wear your nicest shirt.
>>
>>969422
>Wear a similar shirt.
It's better to swap between two shirts, that way they stay fresh longer.
>>
>>969449
You pull out a similar shirt, and quickly tug it on. You stuff a satchel with the necessary implements, and hurry out of the house, then back down towards the cemetary. You see the owner there, trimming the bushes with a pair of hedge clippers. You decide to find something else to do, and wait for her to get done.

>Go to the tavern, and look for a real job.
>Go to the mine shaft, and poke around down there.
>>
>>969472
>Go to the mine shaft, and poke around down there
>>
>>969635
You wave at the cemetery owner as you pass, and speed up slightly, heading towards the mineshaft. When you arrive, you pull a torch from your satchel, and light it with the tip of your finger. You walk down into the darkness, and after about fifteen minutes of searching, you come across a large, suspisciously skewed boulder.

>Move it.
>It's probably just something the miners did, keep going.
>>
>>969714
>Move it.
I'll sink my teeth into this plot hook
>>
>>969723
You take a moment to prepare, then raise your hands, and the boulder rolls to the side, revealing... nothing. There's seems to be a dark little room behind the boulder, but it's totally empty. You look over at the rock, frowning, and cross your arms.

>Throw your torch into the room. Maybe there's something hiding in the shadows?
>Step into the room.
>Move the boulder back into place, then move on.
>>
>>969727
Let's try shooting some magic flames into the room.
>>
>>969747
You snap your fingers, and a small ball of flame detaches from the torch. It flies into the room, and just before revealing anything in the room, it flickers out. You try again, and a slightly larger ball of fire detaches from the torch. The torch light begins to wane, and the larger fireball flies into the room. You see a glint of two black, beady eyes, staring out at you from a head only a few feet off of the floor. You also see a small pile of gold at the creature's feet. One scaly green hand swats at the fire, and it poofs out of existence.

>Blast that little fucker.
>Talk to it, it doesn't seem hostile.
>>
>>969766
>Blast that little fucker.
Free corpse, plus plunder.
>>
>>969792
The torch fire suddenly expands, and you swing the torch like a sword. The creature lets out a squeal, and darts out of the flame's path. The fireball reveals nearly a dozen other little kobolds, all scattering like roaches. You cringe at the sight of them and their pushed-in little faces. One of them lets put a particularly loud startled yelp, then starts shouting at you in a scratchy, high-pitched voice.
"What's the big idea, you flat-faced, mouth-breathing, crooked nose freak?! You got a problem with us?"
The fireball breaks apart, washing across the cavewall, then dies out. The only source of light is the golden coins, cherry red and melting slightly. You can vaguely see the shapes of the kobolds regathering around their pile of gold.

>Try it again.
>Move the rock back into place.
>Do something else.
>>
>>969818
>Do something else.
Try to move the earth under to gold out of the cave, then seal it back up.
That much (melted) dish will be a nice boost to family finances.
>>
>>969874
And just forget about the angry kobolds?))
>>
>>969874
wait fuck nevermind))
>>
>>969874
You form a fist with one hand, and wave the other hand from the boulder to the entrance. You yank the fist back, and the melted lump of gold flies towards your hand as the boulder slides back into place. You open up the fist, and the lump of metal stops in midair, then drops like dead weight. You sign, and give your loot a moment to cool before picking it up. You drop the gold into your satchel, then turn to look back up towards the exit of the tunnel.

>You've explored enough for today. Call it quits.
>Press onwards.
>>
>>969911
>You've explored enough for today. Call it quits.
Let's skedaddle back to the house in case the kill olds come a looken.
>>
>>969918
You hear tiny hands pounding on the other side of the boulder. You wonder how the kobolds got them self in their, then figure that the dwarf must have sealed them away. You let out a huff, and scurry out of the cave, racing back to your house. The cemetery owner still stands beside her bushes, trimming away, and waves as you run by, but you pay her no mind. You burst through the front door, locking it behind you, and turn around, pressing your back to the wood.
Chester and Madeleine both stare at you, apparently interrupted in the middle of a conversation.
"What did you-" Chester starts to ask, but stops himself when you pull the solid lump of gold out of your satchel. You toss it, and it skids across the floor, and spins in place for a few moments after it stops sliding. Chester hefts it, and inspects it for a moment, before passing it to Madeleine.
She raises her eyebrow at you in an unspoken question.

>"I found it down in the caves."
>"I stole it from some people who stole it from someone else."
>>
>>969944

"I... what's a kobold?" Madeleine frowns slightly, holding the gold to her chest.
Chester furrows his brows.
"Why are you asking us? You're the only one who knows anything about magic shit, besides Dad."

>"Sorry, I forgot how stupid you are, Chester."
>"Sorry, my mind is in other places right now."
>>
>>969963
"Given they live in the mine you work in I thought you might have seen or heard about them. "
Side note, just how much money/gold did we plunder?
>>
>>969983
"Given they live in the mine you work in I thought you might have seen or heard about them."
"There are no kobolds in the mines. Just miners."
You narrow your eyes at him, and a short staring contest ensues, before Chester looks away, grumbling.
"So, uh, Daelag... how much do you think this is worth?" Madeleine asks, holding up the golden lump.
You size it up for the first time, frowning, and take asks few approximate measurements.
"I'd say about 900 gold coins worth."
"Ooh, wow! What should we buy with it?"

>"We should pay for repairs to the house."
>"We should save it."
>>
>>970038
>"We should save it."
We should wait until we find out what daddy dearest is up to before we spend it.
>>
>>970042
"We should... We should just put it in safe-keeping. Maybe we could use it to pay for father's travel, if he leaves?"
Madeleine nods, and Chester frowns slightly.
"Who should be trusted with it?" Madeleine asks.

>"I'll take care of it."
>"Madeleine, you keep it safe."
>"Chester, hide it somewhere where nobody will find it."
>>
>>970097
>"I'll take care of it."
>>
>>970102
"I'll take care of it."
"Why not split it into thirds, so that we each get a share?"
"Nobody's getting shares, Chester, we don't even know if we're getting any of this. Until we know he isn't leaving, not a one of use gets any of it."
Chester crosses his arms, and you take the gold from Madeleine. You drop it back into your satchel.
"And now, I'm going to bed. Good night."
You hurriedly make your way up the stairs.
________________________________________
Several hours later, you're awoken by someone straddling you. You groan, sleepily opening your eyes, and see Madeleine on top of you in the dim light.
"Where's the gold, Daelag? I just want to look at it for a minute..."

>"Under the bed, in my satchel."
>"Ask me again in the morning."
>>
>>970130
Tell her to earn it, then lie and say we slid it under fathers bed where no one would be fool enough to go.
>>
>>970139
"You've gonna have to earn it."
_________________________________________
About half an hour later, you separate from Madeleine, covered in sweat.
"H-Hah... okay, now, hhh... where did, hhh... where'd you put it?"
"Mmh. Under father's bed, where nobody would be stupid enough to go."
Madeleine makes a displeased noise.
"Well... could you go get it for me?..."
You shake your head, rolling onto your back, and sliding one arm beneath her neck.
"Nope. Ask me again in the morning."
Madeleine makes the same displeased noise, and snuggles up next to you. You settle back into sleep.
_______________________________________
The next morning, you wake up, alone in your bed. You frown slightly, and sit up again. You pose the same question to yourself, from yesterday morning.

>Wear the same shirt from yesterday.
>Wear another fresh shirt.
>Wear your nicest shirt.
>>
>>970168
Wear the shirt from yesterday's yesterday, and check for the gold.
>>
>>970186
You wear the shirt from two days ago, and grimace when you pull it on. It's still a little damp with two day old sweat, and a little cold. You sigh, run your hands through your hair, and pull your satchel from beneath the bed. The weight assures you that the gold hasn't been taken, and you push it back beneath the bed. Now what?

>Go to the cemetary.
>Go to the tavern and look for a job.
>Go for a walk through the woods.
>>
>>970194
>Go for a walk through the woods.
Take a walk on the wild side.
>>
>>970238
You make sure to grab your coat on the way out, and pull it around yourself. It smells a bit like Madeleine's cheap perfume, and the smell reassures you. You trot down the dirt road, getting in a little exercise, and don't stop until you're throughly lost in the woods. You sit down beside a tree, and close your eyes, thinking about recent events. You're awoken by awoken sudden weight in your lap, and start, looking down. A bear cub sits in your lap, sleeping peacefully.

>Roughly shove it off.
>Gently remove it.
>Pet it like a dog.
>>
>>970245
>Gently remove it.
Then bolt cause it's mother will eat us asshole first if she finds us.
>>
>>970253
You gently push at the little bear, and it lets out a rather loud bear cub noise. You quickly stand up, and glance around. The bushes to your right begin to shuffle as the mother bear tries to make her way through the brambles.

>Bolt. Can you outrun a bear?
>Kill the mother bear, and leave the baby bear without a mother.
>Climb the tree. Bears can't climb, can they?
>>
>>970245
>gently remove it
then look around for the mother so we don't run in her direction and quickly walk away while singing.

>>970253
doesn't running just encourage them to chase you?
>>
>>970268
Use magic to hinder/distract the bear while you gtfo.
>>
>>970268
>Kill the mother bear, and leave the baby bear without a mother.
Ice it's face and retreat a safe distance to see if it Suffocates.
>>
>>970279
You hurl a bolt of icy magic at the bush, just as the mother pokes its head out. The creature's entire head is coated in ice, and you slowly back away, waiting to see what happens.

>Run, it'll be stopped up long enough for you to get away.
>Press your advantage and kill it. A zombie bear would be badass.
>>
>>970375
>Run, it'll be stopped up long enough for you to get away.
Then unfreeze her head from a safe distance.
>>
>>970381
You sprint a good distance away, before turning, and waving your hand at the block of ice. You have some trouble getting the magical ice to dissipate, so you flick your wrist, sending out a small fireball. The fireball makes contact with the tip of the ice block, and starts to melt it. It burns through the ice, then burns the mother bear's nose. This enrages the bear, and she slams her head into the ground, shattering the ice. She rears up on her hind legs, lets out a throaty bear roar, then drops back to all fours and charges.

>Roll 1d20 to run away, or roll 1d100 to attack it.

I was actually hoping to learn some druid magic, but our character clearly hates nature.
>>
>>970451
we don't hate nature, we just don't appreciate it. also, i'll go ahead and use the other guy's roll because this one would fuck us up. And, depending on your definition of druid magic, we already know some.
>>970420
You decide to stop beating around the bush, and raise your hands to the skies. As the bear charges, static electricity gathers around you, and a bolt of lightning arcs down from the relatively clear sky, spearing the near, and blowing it apart. Seeing as how close the bear was before you killed it, your eyebrows are singed off, and you're covered in bear meat.
You do yourself to wipe yourself clean, then go inspect the wreckage of the bear. It was a large bear, and there's enough hide left to make a decent rug out of it. You glance over at the bear cub, also covered in its mother's innards, and a slight frown slides onto your face.

>Kill the poor thing.
>Adopt that baby bear, and raise it to adulthood.
>Just leave it.
>>
>>970550
>Adopt that baby bear, and raise it to necrobeardom
Take the bear skin, fill it with bear meat, grab the cub and walk home.
>>
>>970550
>Adopt that baby bear, and raise it to adulthood.

A rolling wall of death like a bear will be good for keeping future enemies in check.
>>
>>970565
You collect the bear skin, put a few chunks of bear meat into it, then tie it up like a gypsy's luggage around a nearby branch. You wave the stick in the bear cub's face, and it bounces like an excited dog, thinking that you're playing with it. You start walking back towards your house, occasionally turning to wave the stick at the bear cub to make sure it keeps following you.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After tying the bear up in the back yard, you head into the house, and put the meat in your ice box. You sigh, head upstairs, and spread the bear hide out on the floor at the foot of the bed. You lay down on it to see how it feels, and almost immediately fall asleep.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Again, late at night, you feel a weight straddle you, and open your eyes to see your sister riding atop you.
This time, you begin without exchanging words.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A good time later, you pull out of Madeleine, sighing, and lean back, laying on the bear skin rug again. She snuggles up to your side yet again, and you kiss her forehead before drifting off to sleep again.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next morning, you wake up alone again, and huff. You climb up onto the edge of your bed, and gather your clothes, but again, stop before putting on your shirt. You have a good feeling about today.

>Put on the same shirt from yesterday.
>Put on a fresh shirt.
>Put on your nicest shirt.
>No, you can't wear the shirt from two days ago.

>Put on your nicest shirt.

You pull on your nicest shirt, a satin, glossy button-up number, and smile. You like wearing nice clothes.
After preparing yourself, you go downstairs, then head out to check on your baby bear. He seems happy enough, so you don't spend too much time playing with him. You feed him before you go, and pat his head. You'll have to give him a name soon, before anybody notices him. So, what's on the itenerary for today?

>Try to train your bear to do tricks.
>Go to the cemetery.
>Go back to the mines.
>Go down to the tavern, and look for a job.

No, but you can learn one. And, late 20s/early 30s isn't old.))

You head down to the cemetary. Oddly enough, the cemetary owner is there, still trimming the bushes. Her slight smile widens when you stop by the gates, and she hurries over to unlock them for you.
"Hello, hello, sweetheart! Have you come to keep me company, or is this a business trip? With that shirt, I think it could go either way..."

>Strictly business.

"Business first. We'll see what happens afterwards."
The woman smiles at your answer, and takes a hold of your hand, shaking it.
"Business first, then. You can call me Charlotte."
You nod, and introduce yourself, then lead Charlotte down the oath that cuts through the middle of the cemetary.
"Let's walk and talk."

"Yes, sadly." Charlotte sighes. "I've been looking for someone to hire for ages now."
"Oh, really?" You think for a moment, continuing to walk. As you get closer to the back of the cemetary, more and more mausoleums appear.

"So, has anyone besides me visited you lately?"
Charlotte lets out another sigh.
"No, sadly... you've been my only visitor for weeks."
That makes you frown slightly, but you quickly regain your neutral expression.
"That's terrible. You know, just maybe, I might find some time to come out here every and visit you every once in a while." You stop walking, lean a little closer to her, and whisper, "For the right price." You lean back, and ask, "Would you like that, Miss Charlotte?"
The woman seems to light up, just at the prospect.
"Mhmmh. I would love that, Daelag." She steps a little closer to you, pressing herself to your side..

You stop when you reach the fence at the back of the cemetary, and slowly turn around, surveying the cemetary.
"Well, I'm glad I got the chance to talk to you, Miss Charlotte."
"I'm just glad you came back to visit me."
"I'll probably be back tomorrow. Make sure you have some work for me to do, though. I'd hate to take your money for nothing."

You lean down as if to kiss her, and she closes her eyes. You peck her cheek, then take a step back. When her eyes open, you wave slightly, grinning, then walk back down the lath, still facing her. She furrows her brows, and hesitantly waves back, then crosses her arms and watches you disappear into the distance. You take a deep breath through your nose, partially to smell the fresh air, and partially to check for any residual magic. You find none, and your shoulders slump as you relax. You then turn, and begin jogging back to your house.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After a short conversation with Chester, whom had stayed home from work for a reason he wouldn't disclose, you go outside, and work on teaching the bear some new tricks. You think about how much easier it would be if he had a name.
After a few moments of awkward silence, you stand, and pat Tragedy's head. Just as you start to turn around, you hear a scream, and feel Madeleine brush by you. You turn around, then realize that the scream came from Madeleine, and turn back around, confused. Madeleine is on her knees, rubbing Tragedy's neck.
"He's so cute! What kind of dog is he, Daelag?"
Madeleine wraps her arm around the bear, and squeezes slightly.
"He's perfect! Is, uh... you'remember not training him for something important, right? It's okay if I play with him?"
You sigh, setting your hands on your hips.
"Sure, Maddy, you can play with him."
Maddy lets out a squeal, and you flinch. Tragedy looks up at you oleadingly, but you turn, and walk back into the house, leaving him with your sister.
Several days later, you wake up, and slide to the edge of the bed to begin your daily routine. Your feet hit something, and you slowly open your eyes. The cot that you saw in your father's room is pushed right up to the edge of your bed. You hurriedly kick it away, and pull your satchel from beneath the bed. It's empty. A few seconds later, you hear the front door open and shut.
You lean outside, and immediately spot a dark shape, hunched over and hurrying away, with something shiny in its arms.
You yell, "Hey!" And the figure turns to look. "Fuck you!" The figure then turns back around, and continues to hurry away.
You climb out through your window, fall a few feet, and slide down the porch roof. You get a few splinters from the still untreated burrow in the wood, but ignore them, and drop to the ground. You feel a sharp pain in your ankle, but ignore that as well, and begin sprinting after the figure.
You out on a burst of speed, closing some of the distance between yourself and the old man, and attempt to turn the ground beneath him into mud, to trap his feet. You partially succeed, but the mud hole isn't too deep, and only slows him down for a moment. It's enough, and you're only a few feet away from him when you attempt to tackle him. As you collide, the old man fades into a black mist, and the gold plate falls to the ground. You hurriedly pick it up, and then sprint as fast as you can back to the house, slamming and locking the door behind you when you burst inside. You then go around, locking every door and red every window, but not before bringing Tragedy inside. The sleepy little bear immediately curls up on a chair in the living room. Now what?
You set about sealing the doors shut with a thin coating of unformed magic, then rifle through the storage closet until you find some candles to set out. You sigh when the house is dimly lit with flickering candle lights. Now what?
"Oh, I thought you were Tragedy."
Madeleine frowns, making a displeased noise, and you chuckle.
"Only messing with you." She straightens up, then climbs into your lap, and stares out the window with you.
"What are we looking for?"
>"Nothing."
Madeleine frowns more intently, and falls into silence, resting her head on your chest.
Some time later, you lay back, and Charlotte collapses on top of you. You lightly pat her back, sighing.
"Do you have to, Daelag?"
You take a hold of her hands, and squeeze slightly. Something cold presses against your finger, and you move your fingers out of the way. You finally notice the ring on Charlotte's ring finger.
>"Wait, you're married?"
>"Yes, I really need to go."
>>
>>971772
>"Wait, you're married?"
Only if we can say it in a teasing way and tell her that we like milfs and then ask about her family. But don't make her feel guilty and uncomfortable about it.
Otherwise
>>
>>971806
"I didn't know you were married."
Charlotte starts to speak, but you cut her off. "Don't worry, I don't mind, really. In fact, that actually makes it better for me."
Charlotte frowns slightly, and starts to speak again, but you cut her off, again.
"So, what's your family like?"
Glaring down at you, Charlotte sits up, and crosses her arms.
"I was going to tell you that I was a widow."
>"Oh. My bad."
>"Yeah, I really need to go now."
>>
>>971859
Oh, sorry. I was trying to make you not feel guilty and uncomfortable about it, but I guess it back-fired.
I still like you tho, and look forward to working here.
>>
>>971876
"Ah, my apologies. I was just trying to make you more comfortable..."
Charlotte sighs, and pulls herself off of you.
"It's fine. I appreciate the sentiment."
"I, uh... I am still welcome to come tomorrow, aren't I?"
"Sure, Daelag. I would prefer if you leave for right now, though."
You slide off of the coffin as well, and plant a kiss on her cheek. She sighs, and you frown, before exiting the mausoleum. You start to make your way home, and the rain rally starts to pick up just before you get inside. You step inside, and magically reseal the door again, before looking over at your chair. You see Madeleine laying there, with Tragedy curled up on her torso, and find it a little odd that she can support his weight. You shrug, and head upstairs to your bedroom.
When you step inside, you look over at the cot beside your bed, and scowl. Not only do you not need it now, it reminds you of your father, and nobody needs to be reminded of your father.
You scowl, and hurriedly put the cot in your father's room. When you return, Madeleine is lying facedown on your bed, curled up in your bear skin. She seems to already be asleep.
>Get under the blankets with her.
You climb up onto the bed, carefully so as not to wake her up, and straddle her the same way she's done to you in the past. She lets out a startled noise, and begins to sit up, so you lean down to whisper reassurances.
"Shh, hey, it's okay. I missed you last night, Madeleine. Where were you?"
Madeleine sighs, and presses her face back into the pillow, sighing. Her voice is muffled, but still understandable.
"I was busy, down at the tavern."
"Why are you so tense?" You ask, running your hands up her back. Madeleine shudders, and you roll off of her, wrapping your arm around her. "Come on, relax."
She squirms, trying to escape, but you get a good grip on her, keeping her from moving too much as you run your fingers across her. Several minutes later, you stop, giving Madeleine a chance to catch her breath. You lightly kiss her cheek, smiling. She seems a lot more relaxed now, albeit breathing a little hard.
It seems like her own little hell; all the tiny forest animals she could ever want, and no way to eat them.
You raise one arm, pat your elbow, then drop like a stone, right onto the bear's head. The creature's ethereal skull caves in, and the ghost staggers back. You find yourself a little surprised that that worked, but quickly press your advantage. You shoulder check the bear, knocking it onto its back, then link your arms beneath its knee, and lean back, pulling upwards, and pressing down on its stomach.
The bear roars, attempting to claw at you, and you pull back harder. The flailing claws fall, and gently slap against the snow. You release the hairy ghost leg, and stand, wiping imaginary dust off of your ghost shirt. You look down at the bear, and it rocks back onto its feet.
It bows its head comcedingly, and you gently tap both of its shoulders, officially swearing it into your service.
If we can bind catastrophe to tragedy why can't we bind catastrophe to us? God forbid we lose Tragedy it would mean we lose Catastrohe too. Maybe we can bind her to a piece of jewelry or an object we keep close since it would be best to not lose both bears.
>>
>>973152
>>973150
You sharply whistle, then turn, and begin to float back towards the house. You hear Catastrophe's heavy breathing as you float, so you float a little faster, then gradually speed up, until your surroundings are whizzing by faster than your eyes can track them. Catastrophe races to keep up with you, her breathing growing louder, until you slide to a halt just outside your house. Standing outside, you frown, looking back at Cata. You know that if left unchecked, she might run away, but if you bind her to something, she wouldn't be able to leave, although, you don't know if you'll be able to unbind her once she's binded.
>Bind her to Tragedy.
>Bind her to yourself.
You pass through the door, then stock one arm back through and gesture for Catastrophe follow you. The mother bear does, and, upon seeing her baby, she roars right in your ear, and trots across the living room, attempting to nuzzle the cub. Her nose passes straight through, and she lets out a surprisingly high-pitched noise. You walk over, and gently pat the side of the bear cub's head with your transparent hand. When you retracts your hand, you see a dimly glowing handprint left on Tragedy's fur. You turn, and trace the same hand across Catastrophe's head. Both hand prints suddenly glow, blindingly bright, and you shut your eyes. When you reopen them, you don't immediately realize anything dufferent. After a few seconds, though, you see that Catastophe is now rustling Tragedy's fur when the mama bear nuzzles her baby, and Tragedy seems to be enjoying himself greatly. You smile, and float back upstairs. You look down on your body, blankly staring at the ceiling with unseen eyes, and Madeleine's quietly sleeping form.
"Good morning," you say, more to yourself than Madeleine, but she hears you nonetheless. She jumps, and spins around, then lets out a relieved sigh when she realizes that it's only you.
"Whew... I didn't wake you up, did I?"
You prop yourself up with your elbow, and watch as she bends back over, to finish lacing her boots.
"No, no, you're fine. I would have been up sooner or later anyways."
>Start getting dressed yourself.
>Finish watching her get dressed.
>>
>>973717
>Start getting dressed yourself.
Convince her to help us get those kobolds thevies working for us.
>>
>>973721
madeleine would be grossed out by kobolds, and refuse to work with them
>>
>>973717
>Dress yourself.
>>973721
We must protect her smile not force her into things that could damage her beauty.
>>
>>973717
>>Finish watching her get dressed.
Ask what she meant by "it's only you".
Am I not good enough anymore? ;P
>>
>>973731
>protect her smile
>is a whore
One and only one anon
>>
>>973741
She's not a whore! She's a well respected working woman. The work may be indecent but it's not our fault.
>>
>>973721
>>973731
You stand up, and tug on a new pair of pants. You pause before tugging on a new shirt, then scowl, and decide that you need to buy new clothes soon. You tug on a fresh shirt, then look over at Madeleine. She pinches the front of her dress, and tugs it down a little.
"How do I look?"
>"A little lower."
>"Cover yourself up more."
>>
>>973749
>"Hey, why don't you stay at the house today, with the gold we got from the Kolbolds we don't need three people working."
We need to try to work harder so our dearest sister isn't doing that sinful work.
>>
>>973749
>>"A little lower."
We still need to bait that 'rapist' and be her last customer.
Then we can whisk her away and find her a decent job.
>>
>>973760
coin flipped, you win)))
"A little lower."
Madeleine does as she's told.
"There?"
"Perfect. Now, if you don't mind me asking, what did you mean by "only me"? Were you expecting someone else?"
"I didn't mean anything by it, Daelag. Don't worry."
She begins to brush her hair out with her fingers, trying to remove some of the tangles. A few moments later, she sighs, then heads for the door. Now, how should you follow her?
>Leave your body again, and float after her.
>Just sneak.
>>
>>973768
If it's not far at all then we should follow by ghosting. But if it's a bit away then we should hide near and then ghost.
>>
>>973788
It's moderately far.
>>
>>973792
Is there any place near but not in the tavern? I'd rather not base an entire defense of my own sister on something new I just learned last night.
>>
>>973793
It's actually pretty close to the graveyard.
>>
>>973796
DESU that was my first option -- to go into a empty mausoleum (magically lock it) and ghost to the tavern.
>>
>>973801
Alright. Well, give it about five more minutes, and I'll go with this option.
>>
>>973768
>more lower
>>
>>973793
>>973796
>>973801
>>973822
"Actually, Madeleine?"
"Yes?"
"A little lower."
Sighing, Madeleine tugs it down a few inches further.
"Perfect."
Madeleine leaves the room, and, a few moments later, you follow behind her.
________________________________________
You stop outside the graveyard, watch Madeleine enter the tavern, then crack the gates. You see Charlotte, much farther down the path.
>Take her into the mausoleum, and let your uninhabited body give her the dick.
>Try to sneak past her.
>>
>>973836
>>Take her into the mausoleum, and let your uninhabited body give her the dick.
This actually seems pretty ideal.
Then we can possess Maddie's customers and fuck two girls at once.
>>
>>973845
>>973836
Not a bad idea. I'm just hoping Maddie doesn't get into trouble while we are fucking/talking to Charlotte.
>>
>>973863
You cup your hands around your mouth, and shout "Hey, Miss Charlotte!"
The cemetery owner turns, and spies you, then smiles, and starts trotting towards you. You shake your head, and point at the mausoleum nearby. She nods, and starts to head there.
________________________________________
Brief pause.
>>
>>973845
>>973863
Several minutes later, again, just before you finish, you expel yourself from your body. You turn, and float off, heading towards the tavern.
________________________________________
After several hours of watching people/occasionally possessing bodies to fuck Madeleine with, you sigh, floating around the main room of the tavern as you wait for another customer to approach Madeleine. She engages in a conversation with a young man, and you watch, but their voices are too quiet for you to hear. You sigh, and wait for them to head upstairs, before floating through the ceiling, and your eyes widen as the man presses Madeleine to the door of one of the rooms immediately after shutting it. She doesn't seem to be resisting, but her pained expression tells you enough.
>Possess him, then jump out of the window.
>Possess him, then do something else.
>>
>>974706
>Possess him, then do something else.
Give Madeleine every last cent in his pockets, walk out of the tavern into the forest, then slit your own throat/jump off a cliff
Never mess with a Lich's sister
>>
>>974706
>Possess him, then do something else.
Ask her what she wants you to do. Make sure this isn't just roleplay.
Then jump out the window or whatever is appropriate.
>>
>>974706
>Possess him, then do something else.
Tell her that you are Daelag and want to know if she is okay and if this is the guy who skipped out on her.
>>
>>974772
Opps, Sorry this is me.
>>
>>974744
>>974765
>>974772
all three of you roll, and whoever gets the highest roll is the scenario that gets chosen
>>
>>974772
>>
Rolled 33 (1d100)
>>974772
>>
>>974772
>>974806
Nevermind then.)))
You flood into the man's body, and after a few seconds on convulsing, you shake your head, and say, "Madeleine? This is Daelag. Is this the guy who skipped out on you?" There's no delay between you speaking and your mouth moving.
"Y-Yes, he is... what are you going to do to him?"
>Now jump out the window.
>Leave, and go kill yourself in a more secluded place.
>>
>>974831
>"Did he hurt you?"
>>
>>974831
>What do you want me to do to him?
>>
>>974843
>>974858
porque no los dos?))
"Did he hurt you?"
Madeleine nods, and starts to say yes, but you cut her off.
"What do you want me to do to him?"
"I'd... could I have all of his money?"
You empty your pockets, and give her your wallet.
"Now, uhm... get him out of here. I don't care what you do to him, just make him go away."
>Nod, and jump out the window.
>Nod, and go kill yourself somewhere.
>Walk out into the woods far af, then leave him.
>>
>>974870
>>Nod, and go kill yourself somewhere.
>>
>>974870
>>Walk out into the woods far af, then leave him.
I would say that this seems fair.
Now he's broke and running from bear(s).
>>
>>974870
>Walk out into the woods far af then leave him
We should try to avoid people so if the window isn't too high then we should leave through it carefully.
>>
>>974894
>>974893
>not tying loose ends
Anons..........
>>
>>974898
We can kill him in the forest.
You nod, then force your way past Madeleine, and make your way down into the main room of the tavern, your pants still down around your thighs.
You sprint-waddle out of the tavern, then hurry down the dirt path, as fast as you can.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
About three hours of sprint-waddling later, you decide that you're far enough away from the town. As you exit the body, you feel something clinging to you, and force your way out of the body. The man's soul comes free with you, and you take a moment to size him up while he checks himself out.
"Am I... you?... You killed me! I'm a ghost!"

>Say "Perfect," then deck that fucker.
>Let him talk for a minute. You might learn something.
>>
>>974975
>Deck that fucker

No time for pleasantries. He hurt our sister so we hurt him.
>>
>>974975

>Say "Perfect," then deck that fucker.

>>974975
>>Let him talk for a minute. You might learn something.

The man manages to stammer out, "you'll regret-" before you punch him in the face. He lands in the snow on his hands and knees, then spits out a ghost tooth.

>Press the attack.
>Ask what he means.

"I regret nothing," you say, just before you call upon your familiar, and, using you as a tether, Catastrophe charges out of the underbrush behind you, roaring.
She passes through you, which makes you shudder. You shudder again when she attacks the other ghost, tearing chunks out of him with her teeth and claws. You watch in sick fascination, and notice that the ghost doesn't have insides. You find that a little odd, then realize that you don't know what you were expecting. You shrug, and continue to watch Catastrophe attack. The other ghost doesn't even attempt to fight back.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Several minutes later, Catastrophe takes a step back, satisfied with her work, and you step forward, looking down at the flickering and gradually shrinking ghost. He stretches one hand out, towards his empty body, sprawled in the snow nearly within arm's reach.
>Step on his hand.
>Let him try to reconnect with his body. Just to see what happens.
>>
>>975167
>"Should have thought about that earlier."
>Step on his hand.
>>
>>975176
this
>>Step on his hand.
Yeh, nah. That sounds like a bad idea.
Maybe in a controlled environment though.
>>
>>975176
>>975180
>>975185
"It's a little late for that."
You grind your heel into his hand, and the ghost presses his face back to the snow, before slowly fading out of existence. You glance over at his body, and frown.
>Leave it for the wolves.
>Go back to your body, then come back and get this body, for later.
>>
>>975217
>Go back to your body, then come back and get this body, for later.
Just use it for parts though, dont want madeleine getting flashbacks on us
>>
>>975217
>Go back you your body then come back
We should dispose of the body so any hunters do not find it and start a witch hunt. Figuratively of course.
>>
>>975239
parts? good idea. good thing i had it, heheh...)))
>>975264
You wave your hand, dismissing Catastrophe to go back to Tragedy, and then whisk yourself back to your body. You repossess it, then finish inside of the now unconscious Charlotte. You suddenly remember that your body has been fucking her on auto-pilot for several hours, and wince. She'll probably be sore in the morning.
And, scene. I'm thinking about making a new post tomorrow, just to attract some fresh blood, yay or nay? Also, merry christmas
>>
>>975300
Merry Christmas to you too.
Yeah I suppose it would be best to start a new thread since we hit auto sage a few days ago even if we are only on page 7 with around 2-3 active players. I recommend tripping as well since you have been posting from multiple IDs and now it will be on a new thread too.
Good story so far!
>>
>>975300
>fresh blood, yay or nay?
I'd say nay since fresh blood usually brings faggots who aren't invested in the story coming in and messing everything up.
Plus I like this slow relaxed pace.
But we will need a new thread eventually I suppose, so whatevs.
