Miss Valliere was almost quite literally stunned by your sudden waking up of her, so you had to repeat yourself, with patience:

"The Academy is under attack. Get ready to go anytime as quickly as possible. Wake up everybody in the dorms. I will get the professors. This is urgent. We are under attack."

Thankfully, the warning got to Louise. Soon enough, she was out of bed and ready to do as you suggested.

As for you, you made your way to the nearest to the quarters of the staff member you were most familiar with, Jean Colbert.

By the time you reached his quarters, it appeared he was already to go.

"The school's under attack."

Colbert grunted in an affirmative reply.

"You go forth and do what you do. I'll wake the others."

Colbert and you quickly parted.

You had managed to get the rest of the faculty awake. Old Osmond, Kaita and Chevreuse had been made aware. They were all quite shocked at how all of the school's defences were evaded.

The faculty and you arrived. By the time you got where Colbert was, one tower had been knocked down. Furthermore, the ground was pockmarked with dirt craters.

Fortunately, or unfortunately, depending on the point of view, the source of the disturbance was gone.

You overheard Mr Colbert reporting to Old Osmond.

"... Eight giant earth golems in total. Whoever did it just brutally forced their way in."

The rest of the night went anti-climatically.

Miss Valliere was readying herself to sleep when in curiosity you decided to ask a question:

"How did you rally your peers, Mistress?"

"It was fine."

What you sensed in the intonation of "fine" however, was that her attempt was either average or abysmal.

The next morning, down at the breakfast hall, Miss Valliere's earlier low mood was elevated back to less gloomy levels, when the resident maid Siesta, came along to deliver a mail envelope.

"Excuse me, Lady Valliere. The messenger instructed me to relay this to you discretely."

Louise nodded in acknowledgement and the maid made her way off. The other students didn't so much as look on.

You were given the task of studying the letter by yourself while Miss Valliere was busy attending classes.

The letter went as follows:

"DEAR FRANÇOISE LE BLANC DE LA VALLIÈRE

We have received your Proposition to fund an Expedition into the Oceanus Mundi and to grant a Royal Charter of Monopoly should such an Expedition uncover a new trading Route to the East, thereby circumventing elven Control of the the current overland Routes. We are, frankly, highly receptive to such a Proposal, given your preciously eloquent and erudite arguments, which have given Us no room for denial. As such, We grant you an Audience, free of Formality if you desire, this Day of the Void.

Yours Sincerely, REGINA TRISTANIA MARIANNE."

It was a success. Contrasting with the disturbed atmosphere from last night, the letter truly was welcome news.
