The princess exhales deeply, rubbing her rocky temples in an attempt to exercise patience with your free spirit. "Of course I do," she coolly declares with an air of nobility. "I'm a diplomat. It's imperative that I allow things to affect me 'pretty bad'. You're but a bottom-barreling commoner with a jarring fetish for blue apparel. You wouldn't understand the kind of responsibilities I'm expected to undertake as ruler of the Diamond Domain. I can't simply wave things off and pretend they don't affect me or my kingdom. Such liabilities are why I'm even in this town in the first place."

stones whose secrets have still yet to be fully understood to this day.

Can't say you were expecting her to catechize your personal choices as a Pokemon trainer, suppose that's what you get for giving her an inch and expecting her not to run with the mile. Maybe you should have just taken her to see the King's Rocks.

Though, in all truthfulness, the princess does raise some valuable points, especially for someone who doesn't see things from your point-of-view. It's not outrageous for the average somebody to expect the average tough trainer to use Mega Evolution. It's not rocket science, it's essentially a metagame-fingering power creep boost at the cost of an item slot that most trainers are more than willing to forgo. What fool wouldn't take that if the opportunity arose? Even you initially leaped at the chance to get a ring back in Shalour. Not to reiterate how that went down.

That's a good question. Why didn't you? Just as Diancie said, you claim to be aware of your potential, your limits—that you don't need Mega Evolution to be a strong trainer. But why do you believe that? Even now that you have a ring in your possession, none of these stones are tickling your 'I NEED THIS' bone.
