If this is your first time tuning in, this is a fantasy civ quest based around a commmunist regime of monolith worshipping hyper intelligent chimps, led by their glorious leader Harambe.
Previously, we gave zebras high levels of sentience, then later some otters, and we made a loose alliance with a clan of bullywugs. We ran a couple errands for them, helped them with a construction project, and in turn they gave us weapons and armor and enslaved some of our people.

We have a farm, and a wall around our base camp. And a shrine to our glorious monolith. Further details about our setup are found in this pastebin: http://pastebin.com/f3dUVXLY

The last we heard of our heroes, they had plunged deep into the bowels of a massive cave, crawling with beetles and other dangers, all to find one missing spearman.

To pick up where we left off, Harambe leads through the caverns. We find a mushroom farm, a cavern which flooded from a lake on the surface, and a wild ape, who seems to be leading us somewhere. Somewhere, one of your apes gets separated from the group. As we follow the wildling, we are ambushed by multiple drone beetles. After the beetles are killed, the wild ape and one spearbearer have wounded legs, and are in great pain and cannot run. It's likely you would be off much worse, were it not for a surprise spear coming from a non-party member. This new ally is the spearman you came to this cave to find in the first place.
>"I-I'm so glad to see a familiar face."
You give the wildling 1 white herb, to quiet it and put it in the trance. Your injured spearwoman chews hers as well, to numb the pain of her mangled foot; she know's she'll be unconscious soon, but she wagers she wouldn't be a help fully conscious, either.
>"I'll take the wildling to the surface, I think we found what he was leading us to," she says. "We'll be out of your way."
What do you do?
>Let her take the wildling above
>Keep the wildling, let her leave
>Order her to stay, keep the wildling
>Order her to stay, leave the wildling for dead
>Something else?

You assess your party: 1 Harambe, 1 spearwoman(missing), 1 spearwoman(injured), 1 wildling(injured), 1 Bowman (4 arrows), 1 spearwoman(torchbearer), 2 spearmen, all armored save the wildling and the new recruit.
And you assess your supplies: 12 food, 14 water, 12 torches, 4 white herbs, 2 Anti-Pain Potions, 30 meters of rope.

You ask the found spearman what he did to survive.
>"I found, like, a meat cave. Like, a cave full only of carcasses and rotting meat. It was disgusting, but it was the safest spot, because it was unguarded and unmonitored. None of it was edible, so I did hunting now and again. There was a woman, too. A human. What she did to get here, I'll never know or ask, but she was good company."
You also meditate on the missing soldier. Knowing her last known location was before the last battle, you assume desertion. Your safest bet to find her would be to backtrack.
As your party rests, a tremor is felt throughout the caverns.
What do you do?
>Backtrack to find the deserter.
>Follow your found spearmen to the meat locker.
Set up a base camp
>Go [direction]
>Split into groups

Doesn't make sense to come down here for a spearman and then leave one here...

Was the human woman in the meat locker?

You escort the wounded chimps toward the nearest exit, a hub of six hallways intersecting. This is also where the last sighting of the deserting soldier was; she could be down any corridor.

Oops. Super sorry folks. This is the highest level of unprofessionalism an OP can have.

I doubt any of you are still here but:
You walk Northwest to be greeted by the sight of many beetles in congregation. They are illuminated by a sight you cannot see, though you do see it's incredibly bright. These aren't like the drones we've been dealing with, small and overwhelming only in big numbers. These are beetles, 8 feet long from head to thorax, 3 feet wide at the shoulder, and wearing onix black as their exoskeleton. They can fly, though much slower than the drones and with less altitude. Worst of all is the two horn on their faces, right between the eyes. The long, sharp extremity looks like it could pierce even the strongest of stone or cute the thickest metal.
You see that they outnumber you, and they do not see you, as they are focused on whatever massive lightsource is on the other side of them. Knowing how you faired against half this number of their weaker counterpart, you hesitate on bumrush any of them.
Northwest, North, and South/southeast all lead to unvisited corridors.

You stack mud walls between the edges of corridors, each with an opening in the center. Whiles these walls give protection, they leave you with blind spots; be weary of staying too long. You realize you're running low on food, because next turn, when you eat, you'll only have one serving left. You might have to go hunting, or refind that farm. This is also how you realize the deserter has no food, so she's have to return eventually or become self-sustaining, and you know where the major sources of food and water are.
You ask to found spearman where his meat locker is.
>"Southeast of here; I think the woman is still there. She could be useful."
Your party will consume 6 food and 6 water at the end of this action.

Your group eats before leaving, and leave two torches as a beacon for your camp, leaving your current inventory as:
>7 food, 9 water, 10 torches, 4 white herbs, 2 Anti-Pain Potions, 30 meters of rope, 19 gold coins, 6 drone beetle carcasses. As you go south, you see a lion beetle; not wanting to throw yourself right at it's mercy, you detour to the thinner corridors east of him; you find a vase with 16 crude gold coins in it; a drone finds the man you sent to collect the coins, and flies after him.

Spearbro leads you East, into a dank room. There's light coming from the eastern edge. The dead bodies, cows and pigs and lions, are rank and would make weaker men gag and vomit.
You take a few steps into the room until you hear a voice from nowhere, seemingly implanted in your mind.
>"Don't take another step forward if ya value ya life," says a raspy feminine voice.
>"That's her," spearbro says.
>"What do you mean?" you ask.
>"Go grab something ya don't value and throw it in front of you." she says.
You grab a bone from a pile nearby and throw it on the floor in front of you. As it hits the ground, a pillar of fire rises, engulfling the remains in an inferno. When the fire dies, you see even the ash burned away, leaving nothing.
>"It's safe now, come on," she says.

>"Ah that's a long story, come over and we'll talk it over the fire."
>"Go on. I've been here for days and she hasn't killed me yet, she's safe," you spearbro says."
Your party trudges forward, cracking a vase and taking the 14 gold coins in it. You enter a room of thin mud walls, clear of any carcasses and with a fire in the middle. You see an old woman, balding, with saggy wrinkled skin, scarred and burnt. "I didn't think she'd be this ugly," you think to yourself.
>"Don't think you're the first to think that way," she says silently.
You jump at this.
>"Y-you can read my mind."
>"I can read all of your minds, you oaf," she snaps. "I can read the minds of every living thing in this cave. Then again, your party and the Queen and her child are the only things here that really think a lot. Your missing spearwoman is dead, by the way. Killed by a lion beetle."
You're intimidated by her knowledge. She's been watching the whole time? A Queen? your missing spearwoman?

>"And she has a kid. Rather, she will have. She laid the egg of her successor. And your spearwoman was so tempted by it's bright glow that she grabbed it, went to present it to you, and was eaten alive for threatening the royalty."

Of course, she's intelligent on par with us, so I doubt I could manipulate her nearly as much, and frankly I don't want to. She's beautiful, her power is incredible. I could get you into her chamber, but don't expect her to not eat ya."
>>364373
>>364390
>"I was, um, a woman, apart of a mountainside settlement. I was thrown out for practicing magic; they thought I was manipulating our king, I was not. They exiled me. and I traveled North. Before meeting the Queen, we must make a plan, and decide our terms. She would be a powerful ally, what do we have to offer her? We can give her workers, but hers are probably superior and we don't want a second Pepe, do we?
The hag might stay as an advisor if all goes well, and as a slave if they don't. And I don't think anyone would object enslaving Pepe's men
>>364473
I like the way you think
>>
>>364479
What do we have we could give her?
>2 Bullywug workers - aquatic so they could be useful
>Pain potions/Herbs?

Genuinely can't think of much else...
>>
>>364522
well i think both of these could be useful

and if she rejects our offer, we atleast repay pepes favors

we could also offer help in construction work, as hands are pretty good for such things
>>
>>364532
Construction is a good idea, she might have projects in mind.

Could also make a trading post type thing like we did for the bullys, our above ground resources for their underground resources.
>>
>>364563
yeah this also sounds pretty good
>>
>>364522
We have to bullywugs to offer immediately; we have no idea how large the bullywug population, but if we conquered them or traded for more... We might get somewhere.
Either way, bullywugs are considered a delicacy, so she might be inclined to take just the two for breeding purposes, a bullywug farm.
>>
>>364568
well then i say we should try to negotiate with her

if we go in now, would we be killed immediatly ?
or can we like wave a white flag
>>
>>364579
The hag will lead the way, and will help you negotiate; she is also paramount with her telepathy, because you have no other way of communicating. The Queen will be angry, but will at least hear your first few sentences before actively trying to kill you. Also, she doesn't know that one of your party tried to steal her egg, so try to keep that a secret.
>>
>>364606
alright then lets try this

but i dont understand the relationship between hag and queen
are they allies or friends or what ?
>>
>>364606
To be honest, the queen has the choice of eating 6 dirty monkeys, or the chance of a more constant supply of tasty pepes.

If we make that clear straight away we should be okay.

>>364614
Neither I think - just a fan
>>
>>364614
>>364625
the hag sensed the Queen's power, and was hiding in the cave, using her telepathy to manipulate the workers into letting her live. She wants to serve the Queen but didn't have anything to offer her, so the hag never approached the queen
>>
>>364661
well then lets try to negotiate

You let the hag lead the way to the Queen's chamber. You are approached by drones from all angles as you travel, but the hag manipulated them into staying away from your group. You approach the chamber, and see many lion beetles guarding the entrance. While they were ready to charge, the hag sends our a telepathic order to stop, and the simple minded beetles stand down, and allow entrance to the Queen's chambers.
You remember the terms you offer: two bullywugs immediately, a delicious meal befit a queen; the possibility of using your men for dexterous tasks, such as construction; and access to your above ground resources.

The hag tears up as she approaches the Queen, fearful and amazed by the massive beetle.
The hag sets up a telepathic link between you and herself, as well as one between herself and the Queen, and will relay terms between you and the Queen.
>"My Queen," she starts, "We are but humble surface dwellers. I came here, attracted by your immense power. I wish to serve you; my friends are envoys of a powerful empire on the surface. Though they cannot match the splendor of your greatness, they ask in the humblest of manner to have an alliance that would be mutually beneficial to you and them."
The Queen raises her body.
>"You enter my realm, you manipulate my soldiers, you take some resources yourself, and you expect me to here your plans on how to use me to better yourself?!?
>"Speak now, tell me your name and what you want, and I will decide if your words sound better than you taste."
The Queen is impatient, but will let you give your offer before doing anything drastic.
What do you say?
>>
>>364782
"I am Harambe your grace, the chieftain of our surface empire. I promise you our intentions are not to use you, in fact quite the opposite. We have recently come into contact with a tribe of Bullywugs, who have wronged our own. We wish revenge, a holy war on your behalf. If you would allow us this, to bathe in their blood in your honor - you can expect the same degree of loyalty we have shown today in entering your powerful kingdom in search of one of our own. Your grace, my words may not sound as good as we taste - but I can guarantee a splender of Bullywug corpses tastes ten times better than our hairy asses. Please, offer us this privilege to serve you - and may our alliance hold strong."

then maybe succ?
>>
>>364782
So... Do you like pepes?
>>
>>364851
>"I don't care about your backstory, I don't care about who's wronged you in the past, I just want a reason to let you live. You say you taste worse than a bullywug? Bring a bullywug, then. I've tasted your kind before, but I haven't had the privilege of a bullywug feast. I will hold your woman, and your men; you will go fetch me a bullywug to eat, and until then, these will be my hostages. You have until they starve to death; if you do not deliver, I will slaughter your empire."
The Queen has tasked you with feeding her a Bullywug. You must leave your party in the cave and return to the surface and find a bullywug.

You sit and wait for a group of two apes and two zebras leading a bullywug. They told the bullywug he was to be a representative of bullywugs to the Queen; he doesn't know he's being led to his death. You meet them at the surface. You ask:
>"did you see two chimps up here, both injured?"
>"Yeah, were those the ones from the cave?" one ape responds.
>"No, one of those was wild but the other was one of us, who was injured."
You sent the zebras to go find them, and you, your two other apes, and the bullywug go below the surface.
>"What am I to say?" the bullywug asks.
>"Whatever the Queen wants to hear," you reply. "Make your clan sound strong."
You approach the Queen, and send the bullywug forth. He kneels to his new Queen.
>"My Queen," he says. "I am honored to be chosen as-"
The Queen lets out a massive screech, bouncing off the walls of the chamber. The bullywug drops to the floor, his sensitive ears hurting. The Queen spits at the bullywug, burning his skin and meltling his bones. His screams were blood-curdling. Everything from his waste up was a bloody slurry. The Queen swoops down, using her mandibles to pick up the bloody mess by the legs. She garbles it down and digests it slowly. She sits quietly, every ape fearing what her next action will be.
>"You were right. He was delicious," she says with what could be considered a smile on her face. "You are allowed to live, you have my thanks for bringing such a meal. You are allowed to leave, but if you were to bring me more, you will be more than rewarded. Consider your lands a part of my Empire, and consider yourselves my friends."
Do you have any final words or requests to the Queen before you depart?

He came by to tell us our 'workers' built a bridge for us, so that we could transport a large force west, if we needed to. He also said we are always welcome to diplomatic missions to his capital.
>"A centaur also rode in from the east, wanting to know about the wooden building on the horizon. His name was Deagon. He seemed calmed by the fact that we are zebras, but he referred to the land as 'his plains,' and I wouldn't be sure if he is too happy about our settlement.

The drone starts a small mine near the monolith. Knowing how the monolith resonated power into the plants in the lake, is it possible that there's monolith-infused metal, or gems, or something else of power? At this point, we've found nothing.
The eggs are placed in the mine, and will hatch soon enough. The mine is too big for an ape or zebra, but an otter and the drones can fit comfortably inside.

You bind Pepe and hold him under guard. You leave his guard for dead, and gather the bodies to present to the Queen. You expect your men to arrive soon from Pepe's land.
And the ritual is soon to begin. Frankly, your roll for the ritual was awful but you did so good with Pepe I'm giving y'all another chance

Ma'Koh performs the ceremony. She doesn't have enough herb for all of them, but it's possible the ceremony will go fine. She attempts the process on all males first, because she understands that women already outnumber the men. It works on every maleShe moves on to the women, and it works on all of them. She works on the kids, and it doesn't work. 34 out of 41 isn't bad though. And she didn't break any limbs this time, great for her.

Next turn soon, stay tuned

We should get all the newcomers to help expand food production, as we are gonna run out soon.

Turn #21:
Troop, assets, etc:
http://pastebin.com/qCmTKLtZ
Pepe has tasted our revenge. In one fell swoop, we killed his personal guard and took him hostage. Today is his trial, and you have dozens of chimps to watch.
But, before the trial, there are visitors at the gates. It is your three guards, who incited the rebellion. You're certain they have things to say, but you're more interested in their entourage: 20 bullywugs, armed, in simple tunics with blue "Y"s in blue circles painted on, the rebels; 12 bullywugs, nude, save for the ropes at their wrists; and your two chimps and two zebras, the ones you sold to Pepe in the first place.
>"I'm so sorry for what I've done," you say to the ex slaves.
>"You couldn't've known," one of the zebras replied. "If there's any good coming out of our problem, it's that Pepe is out of power."

The trial will begin soon

>You have two actions this turn, by the end of the turn 58 food will be consumed by chimps, 11 food will be consumed by other races
What do you do?
>Hunt/gather
>Explore, bonus if explored with healthy zebras
>Consult the zebras
>Consult the otters
>Consult the children
>Visit an ally
>Research [something]
>Attempt to adopt more wild [animals]
>meditate to the monolith
>Communicate with a neighboring group
>something else?
>>
>>368389
>>368437
Yeah we need food bad.
>Have 5 chimps become fishermen
>Expand the farm
>>
>>368437
Anything from the archery research yet?
>meditate to the monolith
>>
>>368437
>Expand food production
>Research farm technologies
Let's not starve
>>
Pepe stands before the monolith. The whole of your commune is watching.
>"Pepe, you stand here today to be judged in the cleansing light of the monolith to be tried for your crimes.
>"We accuse you for being a slaver; we have four victims to adhere to that statement. We accuse you of being a dictator, for exploiting people who had no choice to leave your leadership, I'm certain every bullywug in this valley would agree to that statement.
>"What do you say for yourself?"
Pepe falls to his knees, crying.
>"I am a slaver, it's what my people are to do. Yours aren't the first I enslaved; we had other merling slaves, but they're gone. They're all gone. I thought you were giving me slaves, I didn't know it was outlawed. I was perfectly welcome to you enslaving my people. I... I'm sorry.
>"But I am not a dictator. I treated my people well."
Every rebel erupted in disapproval.
You let one speak up:
>"Every one of us knows what an iron fist you held us under. We see this great nation, of free, communal values, and we know now that we will never let a man like you, who has no care for his people, will ever be our king again."
the crowd cheers, bullywug and ape and zebra and even the otter cheer. The beetles buzz, but they were probably just frightened by the noise.
You quiet them and speak up:
>"I think it is clear. Does the jury find this man, ex-King Pepe, guilty of the crimes of slavery, injustice to his people, and betrayal of his people's will?"
A unanimous "yes" erupts from the people.
>"King Pepe, I sentence you to death."

How does Pepe die?
>Execution by spear to the skull
>Execution by drowning
>Execution by mob attack
>Execution by starvation
>Execution by devourment by the Queen
>something else?

Your fishermen will net 25 fish per turn.
In three turns, the farm will expand.
The extra farmhands and fishers means that even though you increased your commune's size, you will still only have three actions per turn.
>>368569
>>368555
You, a few rebels, and a few of your trusted guard, take Pepe, and the 12 bullywugs the rebels captured, AND the ten bodies of Pepe's personal guards and set off to the Queen's realm.
The soldiers carry their dead friends' bodies into the Queen's chambers, and are instructed to sit down. The Hag greets you.
>"So, ya followed up on her request for more of them. Good job," the hag says.
>"It was our pleasure and our benefit," you reply.
You sent Pepe forward.
>"Tell her to eat this one first, and make him suffer."
The hag tells the Queen exactly that.
And the Queen puts on her show. She tells the hag to tell Pepe to kneel. He kneels.
>"Repeat this," she commands the frog lord. "I am your Queen, I am your God. There is no one in the world more valuable to you or more loved by you than your Queen."
>Pepe repeats: "You are my Queen, you are my God. There is no one in the world more valuable to me or more loved by me than my Queen."
The Queen laughs, her mandibles twitching and her body rising.
She spits her acid onto Pepe's body. You couldn't tell if Pepe was screaming, or if it was sound of searing flesh and bone. She sits and watches what's left of the frog squirm below her, dark and bloodied and unrecognizable. She scoops up the bloody mess and gulps it down, satisfied with our care.
>"You did well on your promise; you brought me more of these treats. I promised I wouldrepay you; what is it you most want that I can give you?"

What do you ask the Queen for?
>Nothing, the joy of watching Pepe die was enough for you
>Drones
>Lions
>Drones and Lions
>Marriage
>Something else?

>"My Queen, we have been strong allies for a time now. Your friendship has grown my empire, and I hope my friendship has, at least, satisfied you. I ask, humbly, for your marriage."
The Queen looks at you, quizzically.
>"But, I am already married," she says.
She presents you her husband, a symbiote growing on her thorax. Small, with a light grey tone, and seemingly permanently attached. It's now you realize that the small beetle you found, is a king.
Do you tell her?
>Yes
>No

>>368653
>"My Queen, your drones have served us well in times of peace. But we have seen war on the surface. I request you entrust us with some lion beetles for us to take to the surface. They would be a great service to us in times of war."

The Queen ponders.
>"Out of my legion, I can spare 25. I know this doesn't reach half of your population, but I hope it can satisfy you."
You respond:

You keep the truth about the king a secret, for now. Though you fear what she would do if she finds out you lied to her, you also fear what she'd do if she found out you held one of the royal family.
You and your men leave the captured bullywugs in the Queen's realm, letting her do what she pleases with them. You do tell her how to cultivate bullywug eggs before you leave, so she may have a steady supply of them. Your men climb out of the caves, you legion of lion beetles fly out, and you make it back to your camp. You decide now to part ways with the rebels.
>"What will you do now?" you ask.
>"We'll start a new realm, with justice and freedom and nothing that Pepe offered. We'll tear down his palace, and build new cities of grandeur. And we'll always have a place in our lands for an ape."
The bullywugs depart.
You sit in your home.
Ma'Koh is at her shrine. Gubglub is in bed, silent as always.
Dikotsi is at home.
You new apes are in their new homes. Your original clan is also at rest.
The otters are in the lake, enjoying life.
The drones are resting in the mine.
The lion beetles are displaced, but should have a home soon enough.
Our realm is at peace.
Pepe is in the belly of the Queen. The Queen and her realm are at peace. too.
The bullywugs are rebuilding.
The other races in the land are at the usual grind, you imagine.
You ponder your next move, as a stronger, more beloved and wiser chief.
The monolith hums in the distance.

GG all, the next session will pick up within twelve or so hours.

quick question anons.
Why dident we tell the queen about the king that we hatched?

Are we gonna go for some kinda we have our own queen thing? Besides that I don't see any upside in keeping it
>>
>>368908
I thought the same thing, but it's not in an OP's position to question his players
>>
>>369010
To bad I wasn't around to question the decision before it was to late, guess we gotta figure out how to hatch a queen

Also wouldent the mind reading hag have known about the king-to-be ... Because of the... Ya know mindreading

Then have told the queen we were in Posession of royalty at which point our collective ass woulda gotten ate
>>
>>369020
If the hag wanted the Queen to kill us, she could've snitched when we touched the Queen's daughter the first time we entered the cave. Either she has a plan that involves us being alive and friends with the Queen, she likes us and doesn't want us dead over something that has potential to be harmless, or is just too afraid to tell the Queen, because the Queen really does seem like the type to shoot the messenger, doesn't she?
Either way, the fact that the hag hasn't snitched yet implies she won't snitch soon.
>>
>>369046
And don't forget, the body of the soldier who touched the egg is still somewhere in the catacombs. If the Queen were to find her... God know what she'll do.
>>
>>367142
fucking kek, catching up rn
>>
>>368908
Yeah I was hoping for that in the future, but it is still an egg - on our next turn we can do a vote to bring the egg to her. Just say we wanted to check if it was the right one first.

Also because she showed us the old king attached to her, it must have fertilised the queen. If she got another king her army could double in size.
