Post summaries of your favorite quests, why you think people should join them and when they can catch the next thread.
>>
Does it count as a recommendation if I think people should join but the quest has a huge backlog that you need to read through first?
>>
>>331996
If it's a good quest, it should be a nice read.
>>
>>331996
That's why I made this thread, there are too many long-running quests whose playerbase dwindles because people are afraid to backread a quest they're not sure about.

We need a way to introduce people to long quests.
>>
>>332180
*introduce new people
>>
>>331980
Well someone actually has to make a fucking rec, so: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Maverick%20Hunter%20Quest

Maverick Hunter Quest; you are Anode of the 4th Overland Division. Explore the Megaman X universe from the inside, enjoy Hunter Command's delightful sense of humor, cower before Cain Labs, develop a phobia of anything that flies, and take the chance to change the canon of the Megaman X universe for the better - or the worse.

Threads generally run on Saturdays or Sundays, but Hunter Command can't always stay regular; he does have a twitter, though.
>>
>>332059
In the case, Snakecatcher Quest.
It's set in a fantasy world where snakes are evil spirit-animals who grant wishes on capture. The MC is an alchemist and most of the quest is a road-trip travelling adventure with a snake princess but it broadens into something more settled/war-related near the end. It's pretty weird with a bunch of stuff going on with it. And waifus. Lot's of fun but every player but me is retarded so we need good new ones to catch up on the backlog.

I wanna rec The Laughing Dog.
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive.html?searchall=laughing+dog
First thread: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive/117093/

The guy who writes this is a fucking master of atmosphere and setting and it is criminal that he's also terrible at making the start of his threads catchy enough to entice new players.
You wake up in a tomb and immediately have to fight off the zombified remains of someone who'd been resting next to you, and when you get out of your room you also end up rescuing two other people who appear to be from the same tribe as you, though none of you remember how you got there.

After fighting your way through the crypt full of shambling zombies who may or may not be your brethren while following a very suspicious spooky doglike figure who miraculously leads you to safety, you emerge into a vicious and deadly desert and what looks like it might be the end of the world.

The story unfolds gradually and the OP has confirmed that he ran this whole campaign with his IRL group, so we know for sure that he has an assload of setting and plot planned out for us to do.

He usually does threads on Sundays for 7-8 hours, so the threads are kinda hard to catch, but man do I love this quest. I've woken up early and gone without sleep to catch this shit and I really wanna see it through.
>>
Since this is the closest thing there is to a general thread, I'll ask these questions here:

Has the creation of this board been beneficial? I notice many new quests in the catalog are abandoned in the first thread. Did this happen just as often on /tg/ and I never noticed? Is it just because the extra board space has drawn less-committed storytellers to try it out? How is player traffic here? Are the popular quests that migrated here from /tg/ getting as much activity now? If an aspiring GM wants to start a new quest, assuming he is just as talented and committed as the GM's of other popular quests, would it be easier or more difficult for him to pick up players than it was on /tg/?
>>
>>332241
>I wanna rec The Laughing Dog.
I'll give it a look.
In return I'll give you some recommendations too;
from /tg/...
Bladebound Retainer Quest: (highly recommended)
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=bladebound+retainer
Shinobi Quest: (set in the Narutoverse, so this comes on the conditional recommendation of whether or not you ever enjoyed that setting. still high-quality nonetheless)
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Shinobi%20Quest
from /qst/...
Star Wars Scoundrel Quest: (the second thread is still ongoing)
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive.html?tags=Devaronian
Star Wars Jedi Lord Quest: (sadly no-one got round to archiving #4 ... worth reading though)
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive.html?tags=Jedi%20Lord%20Quest

>>332295
>Has the creation of this board been beneficial?
Yes. It lifts much of the burden from /tg/'s catalogue.
>I notice many new quests in the catalog are abandoned in the first thread. Did this happen just as often on /tg/ and I never noticed?
Yes, though not as often as here.
>Is it just because the extra board space has drawn less-committed storytellers to try it out?
Yes.
>How is player traffic here?
Depends on the quest.
>Are the popular quests that migrated here from /tg/ getting as much activity now?
I wouldn't know. Did any quest migrate from /tg/ to /qst/?
>If an aspiring GM wants to start a new quest, assuming he is just as talented and committed as the GM's of other popular quests, would it be easier or more difficult for him to pick up players than it was on /tg/?
Again depends on the quest. If you chose to set your quest in a pre-established setting (e.g. Middle Earth) you'd probably get lots o' traffic regardless of the board. Conversely quests set in original-settings, made by first-time QMs, tend to start slow.
>>
>>332241
Absolutely. I like Laughing Dog more than I like my own quest. I'm shocked Dark's threads only ever have 2-3 players. The man has a gift.

I'll rec Hero Guardian.
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive.html?tags=Hero%20Guardian%20Quest

The QM knows how to create and maintain colorful characters & personalities and his prose is pretty good. I like the pacing as well. There's some repetitive language in there along with the occasional typo, but they've grown more rare in the last threads. The QM's style is also extremely refreshing because he has absolutely zero problems killing off characters that would have plot armor in a book or in other quests and they didn't die from critical failed rolls. It's one of the first quests where I have personally felt like there's a risk factor and real consequences involved. He can be slow at times with the updates, but I incline to agree with what another player said in the current thread: the quality is worth the wait. The threads always end with well over 30+ unique IPs.

The story is essentially Shingeki no Kyojin so far with deviating factors.
>A giant forest once spanned the world from a big tree named "The World Tree".
>Creatures of different races lived there, defended by powerful guardians.
>Then humans came with their "red flower" (a different term for Fire but it seems to have a mind of its own from what we've seen).
>Queue the destruction of 3/4 of the entire forest country/world.
>Queue the near extinction of both the guardians and the forest creatures.
>The survivors flee back to the World Tree.
>The last guardian creates three magical walls to protect the remaining forest and the ones living in there.
>Last guardian makes one of the forest races the new guardians. The Awoo.
>300 years pass by etc. etc.

A Shōnen story about a young Awoo girl named Lin who dreams of becoming a hero and the strongest guardian, racing her rival to achieve her dream. But she gets tangled up in the problems and the horrors of both humans and her own race on the way while wielding a strange power inside of her.
>>
I'll rec Peter Titmouse
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive.html?tags=Peter%20Titmouse

It's Questy aka the maker of Poke Quest. If that's not enough then the rest of the reasons are: It's a drawquest with a simple-yet-coherent art style and humorous while leaving room for tone shifts that are handled well.
>>
>>332203
>every player but me is retarded
salty anon detected

I'm recommending Crusader Quest, if that's even still running. I used to follow along and eat it up back on /tg/. Had to stop reading along because no internet access, and it's been two years since I stopped, but I was enjoying it back then and the writer knew his stuff when it came to the period. There are several incarnations of it but this is the one in particular.

I've been trying to get this one started for an actual eternity:

>>
>>332180
Kek. You know what makes me avoid quests besides that? Quests made by fanboys set in their idol's universe. I know almost nothing about Megaman X or Dark Souls, so I won't be reading those.
>>332676
Ey! I posted there, no reply. Maybe later, then.
>>
>>332726

Were you the Garry guy?

If so, it's because I needed your bio and power as well.
>>
>>332733
Please stop shilling your bad thread in this /qst/ shill good threads thread.
>>
>>332741

How is it bad? It literally hasn't started yet.
>>
The /qst/ -tan quest and the Beleaguered Prince Quest are pretty good.
>>
>>331980
>mfw my favorite quest is on indefinite hiatus

Then I will shill Nerv Bridge Simulator, which is basically what if Eva happened in Canada and Misato was anons. http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Nerv%20HQ
It's gripping, it's exciting, it's heartrending, and it's got excellent drawfaggotry.
>>
>>331980
Here are some of the big popular ones that you should definitely check out.

>Homeless Mutant Quest
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive.html?tags=Homeless%20Mutant%20Quest

>Hellborn Quest
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive.html?tags=Hellborn%20Quest

>Hive Queen Quest (Part Civ, Part Quest)
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive.html?tags=Hive%20Queen%20Quest

>Banished Quest
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Banished%20Quest

>Totemist Quest
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Totem
>>
A Blob in the Dark is a pretty fun quest. It's a fantasy drawquest inspired by retro video games.
>>
>>332456
I'll second that. Enjoyed it quite a lot, to the extent I neglected irl stuff to vote.

I'll also check out Laughing Dog I guess, given the number of recommendations.
>>
>>333380
>Enjoyed it quite a lot, to the extent I neglected irl stuff to vote.
Then you're more dedicated to it than me. I salute you.
>>
>>332726
I knew nothing about Megaman X going into MHQ either; prior knowledge is not a requirement, trust me.
>>
>>332406
I'll back what this guy said about Star Wars Scoundrel Quest. It's pretty good. Basically, you're a low-level bounty hunter who looks like the devil-alien from the cantina in Episode IV, you work for the Exchange in the Hutt controlled city-moon Nar Shaddaa, and it's just after the end of KOTOR II. The QM just made us kidnap a geriatric Hutt crime lord, and we barely made it. We did get a kickass blaster out of the ordeal, though.

Also recommending Bun-Quest. We're a bunny-thing with a pocket dimension in his stomach filled with knives and a sword, and we have an ass-laser. QM has a bit of a habit of passing out cold, but it's still fun. Oh, and it's a drawquest too.
>>
May not be the right place to ask but since game based quests were already mentioned, it seems alright. Has there been a killing/escape game type quest before? Similar to 999 and those types of games but obviously original.
>>
>>335066
This is probably crazy to rec since I haven't heard of anything about it in years, let alone on /qst/, but Katawa Yandere might be somewhat like what you want.
>>
I always love Civilization quests, great fun to play. There's a currently ongoing one on the front page.
>>331980

>>334601
Im backing what this guy said about Bun-quest. The dudes art-style is the cutest stuff ive seen for a while, and the narrative is great too.
>>
>>335189

>>335180
It does seem pretty fun Anon, though it'd probably be much more fun if I had read Katawa Shoujo. I'll give it a read though, the first thread was fun and I could follow along fairly well for the most part.
>>
Seconding >>334601 and >>335189 in recommending Bun-Quest.
>>
>>332946
Ah, I'm not sure about Totemist. The first few threads are definitely great, but lately it's gotten quite bogged down and the MC really has to juggle too much. It's sort of lost the sense of adventure and freedom, and there haven't been as many fights with the tension that really drew me in. The Bone Warden fight was great! Recent fights...not so much. Somehow they just don't pluck my strings.
>>
>>332511
Am I wrong?
>>
>>337762
Yes. The fact that you think that explains why you're always such an insufferable cunt in every thread lately though.
>>
>>327666
I had a lot of fun in this one, QM has a very good sense of humor and also draws really fast!

And you might want to give
>>328805
a shot if you like well executed atmospheres. It's really easy to submerge in this writing. =w=
For some reason, it has very few players.

>>326352
is an overstatement since we are talking about Larro, but maybe someone wasn't curious enough.

Also, if someone is willing to review my quest,
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive.html?tags=Test%20Quest!
, then I'm willing to review another quest in exchange. It's fairly short.
>>
I really liked Medieval Count, but it died long time ago.

I liked MechEngineer quest because it had Battletech engineeran.

Also how our mech we designed had a rapeface, SKREEEEE!

Search for "blorp" on suptg. Most of his work is there, though the first episodes of the legendary Ogre Civ Quest need to be searched for by its title. He's a slow writer and often disappears for weeks and months, but his work is pure gold.

Another good one was Princess Guard Quest, though incessant waifu wars soured the milk a coupld times. It's finished and should provide anyone with weeks of reading material.
>>
>>342228
Reading the Ogre Civ Quest and I already fucking love you.
