Why is yuri a dead genre?
What makes you say that? It's not my thing, but it doesn't seem like there's any less of it today to me.

Yuri is not dead.
Just look at this yuri anime that is AOTY!
You start reading a yuri manga and then realize that it has the exact same plot as every other you've read before.

I think that at some point there were two flagship yuri manga magazines, and then they merged back into one beacuse they couldn't sustain readership, and even then people sometimes complain that some of the stuff that runs in it is "not really yuri."

I was going to complain that there isn't enough yuri with unrequited affection as the central theme, but then I realized that that's literally not yuri, just unhappy lesbians.

That was neither yuri or AOTY
Yuri isn't dead, it's just sleeping.

Yurifags are the problem. They want the same story each time. If regular romance shit can still be found "fresh" by retards to this day, there's no reason yuri inherently can't.

Yuri is fine. Gloom and doom shitposters like to call things "dead" just to get their easy 500 post threads and feel like internet celebrities.
Because we have too many faggots in the current year who want to ship two men skating around and shit instead.
