This is what I don't understand about the smaller hobbyist boards. An average threads last weeks, the posting times between threads is hours, and you all seem to have either trips or identifiable posting style that utterly negates the anonymous nature of 4chan. Why not just use a traditional forum? It suits the needs of your user base perfectly.

Imageboards suit fast posting, short content, non recognizable users, and quick turnover of threads. On all points, you mismatch. It would be better for 4chan if all the small hobby boards were packed up and encouraged to set up their own traditional internet forums that everyone used back 10 - 15 years ago.

What a joke. I would happily see my own home board, /n/, get deleted because I previously used a forum from 2003 to 2008 where we talked about trains. Long, lovely threads. Posts that took an hour between each other, but thoughtful. Good community. A 100 page catalogue to leisurely browse. I came here only because there was other boards, but with everyone now having a "home" board, I see no reason why not to go back to forums.

I used to use a forum dedicated just to FF and another for trains. It was good, much better than 4chan, and only the closure of one and change in features of another made me leave them.

There's a graph on another thread floating around that suggests that /an/, even though it has a small thread turnover, uses up the equivalent bandwith of /v/ and /a/. Getting rid of it, along with /diy/, would be the same as deleting /v/ and /a/ for saving bandwith. Mull on that.
