Let's get something straight here.
The real reason you spend so much time trying to "fix" boards, threads, users, mods, actually has very little to do with any of these things:
>People with different opinions
>People spreading false information or views you disagree with to others
>Off-topic content in threads, even content you dislike
>Blatant lying or trolling for replies
>Shitposting
You might think it's all about one or more of those things, however I would bet that for the vast majority of users what actually happens is the thing that really gets under your skin just ends up being associated with one of the above but that's not the real issue.
My guess is that the true reason you make such an effort to change things, the real direct cause of why you think anything listed above is the biggest problem on 4chan is something very specific, although also quite common:
>People directly or indirectly doing or saying things which you feel misrepresent you or your community and has actual potential to be believed or misunderstood by other users who don't know any better
Imagine you could prevent that, and no matter what anyone ever did or said, your community remained "pure" as you like it and nobody could ever change it and nobody outside your community would ever misunderstand anything about you or your community. Would you still feel like you needed to combat shitposting/trolling/newfags? Or would you feel like arguing is really just a waste of your time and be able to easily blow them off knowing that the site will still be "good" tomorrow?
In my opinion this is what old 4chan was. Either because it was niche/new enough that nobody thought 4chan (or the internet) could ever change and so things like shitposting or trolling were just laughed at or blown off. The real nostalgia for old 4chan is for that environment where you didn't have to care about anyone ever changing the site and any undesirable things could just be laughed at or mocked for lulz.

You're supposed to read starting from the top not the bottom

>Shitposting
This is too generalized.
