Why are GET milestones still looked upon with awe and respect? Is this period of scripted GETs not 4chan's equivalent of the steroids era of baseball? What gives?

Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think the majority awes and respects those people. It only takes is a few idolizers to give the appearance of many.
A get gives you a momentary voice and the ability for your words to stick out from the rest, at least for a few moments.

Pretty sure it's 60% newfags, 30% anons just pretending, and 10% actual interesting gets that are well timed and deserve a laugh, maybe even a screencap in very rare cases but even then it's mostly about the post itself there's nothing really to "respect".

It's seeing non-scripters BTFO of the scripters every once and a while that gets the adrenaline rush.
