Lot's of indie artists have budget limitations therefore they express design/technological creativity in using the styles ofold since advanced technology doing primitive things is cheaper.

Yes, pixel art was better when wildly creative people were pushing their utmost limits to build an immersive landscape with what tools they had, rather than when a novice halfheartedly uses pixel art's nostalgia value as a crutch for his reluctance to overcome mediocrity.
