Let's have a thread about piracy.
I think piracy is pretty essential for a comfy NEET lifestyle.
Where do you get most of your media?
Do you use public or private sites?
DDL? Streaming?
Do any of you buy all/most of your media legitimately?
Maybe some of you are plebs and use only netflix or whatever.
For comparison, netflix's entire library is somewhere around 11,000 titles.
Private trackers:
BTN has 19,750~ TV series.
PTP has 143,400~ movies.
And other niche trackers for books, porn, whatever have almost anything you would want.
Discuss filesharing and piracy ITT. And maybe how it pertains to NEET life.

Why do people hate streaming when it's objectively the safest way to pirate media?

Quality. Intrusive ads. Garbage connections. There are plenty of valid reasons for not streaming.
Private trackers are extremely safe.
Also, seedboxes and VPNs exist. If you use them on public torrent trackers you aren't going to get a DMCA notice or anything.

>Where do you get most of your media?
Only public sites. I hate the stress of dealing with the private trackers.
>DDL? Streaming?
Definitely prefer having it on my drive.
>Do any of you buy all/most of your media legitimately?
I buy stuff from small studios most of the time.
I don't really care to blog about being a hiki, so I'll just say that I still feel guilty for pirating, but it makes my life tolerable.
i use animebytes and have never had trouble keeping a ratio, but if i had a job i'd like to buy blurays of shows i liked to encourage the studios to make more. what sucks though, is that imported disks are an order of magnitude cheaper than japanese domestic ones so the american market will never matter but the domestic ones don't have subtitles. but, maybe that's a good thing too
Man, it would be a drag if I had to pay for all of my media. I just wouldn't consume it in the first place.
There is no way I could pay for all of that shit.
Private trackers all the way, they are the comfiest thing ever. A few clicks and you have the thing you want. No hassle.
Private tracker for everything, anime, TV, film, music & books. I find a mix of torrenting/DDL is easier for mango though. I like owning physical media but I only own some of my favourites.

Private trackers, regional stuff, mix of public and private. I tend to go to public ones because I'm lazy.
Torrent master race, the laws in my country only punish you if you have bad taste (dling things from said country) or downloading the latest HBO show episode I'll never watch.
I don' buy stuff desu.

Not an expert on the topic, however, the general complaints are terrible video/audio quality with shitty encoding and constant bitrates, awful basic webplayers that don't give you any options or good rendering, often times garbage subtitles with terrible fonts, terrible sites with dreadful layouts riddled with annyoing ads and way too often superimposing watermarks on top of the videos.
It's just inferior and awful experience in almost any case, though it's probably possible for streaming to match the quality of downloading in the future, however, it doesn't seem like we're nowhere near there yet.
