How do the ~70 other boards get normies to stop thinking this? 80% of the time /pol/ is mentioned on another website or in the media they don't refer to it as /pol/, they refer to it as 4chan, and it triggers me like fuck. If someone asks to look something up on your computer and they saw fucking /diy/ in your browser history they'd probably publicly shame you for being a an alt-right cringelord.

That's just how it goes. Same thing happened with /b/ before /pol/ got big. All you can do is ignore it. Besides, at least on places like Twitter/Reddit/Tumblr, there's a very good chance the people saying shit like that are just trying to make themselves look "presentable" but come on here anyway.
