You might have been the only one to be able to grasp it but that doesn't mean you 'got' it. If you had you would know it by now. Companies in the IT field hire people all the time with no education
but tons of experience. I had an old college roommate who was in his 40s going back to get a CS degree, but he was already a full time PHP coder making over $100K/year

I'm pretty sure I got it I just don't have a clear path to getting any work, rentacoder.com used to be an okay place to get projects but it turned into some weird general freelancing site dominated by pajeets, I may be naive or experiencing wishful thinking but I feel if a junior level PHP dev position fell in my lap tomorrow I'd be able to knock it out of the park.

While it's unfortunate to have to leech off parents, if it weren't for the guilt that would be the best lifestyle there is.

Work is unbearably soul sucking. I genuinely feel that every aspect of my being that we good and special is completely suppressed and stifled by being in the workforce. Anyone who thinks we aren't basically slaves or that this is an acceptable way to live is a fucking moron (e.g. most people)
