Do you think that everyone should have the same opportunity or starting point, like most boards are anonymous by default but you can choose to have a name, or everyone should get the same amount of benefit, like boards like /b/ on which anonymous is forced and you have no power to change that by yourself?

Probably a board by board basis.
I do think that trips for no reason other than being a unique Snowflake should be warned and banned, though.
Trips should only be used when having a consistent identity is relevant in a thread, or across multiple threads, to prevent impersonation of OP.
