Why are so many people cynical of passes when they're the best option to keep the site running with its size limits, features, and relatively low ad counts intact? Are they seen as a shameless cash grab by the administrator? What could it be?

Perhaps /vip/ needs more enticements

I've been considering buying one all day. /vip/ isn't nearly as spazzy as /qa/ and I do actually like the idea of supporting the site. I wish hiro would keep us updated about how the site is doing financially

I'm with you on this and maybe /vip/ isn't the flashiest perk, but I think people get lost in what they themselves can gain without seeing the bigger picture in so far as overall site performance. At one point, Hiro was talking about removing whole boards.

I don't know why. It could be because they think it's a money grubbing thing that holds your sanity hostage with the verification steps. I've been a proud 4chan® Pass™ owner since 2017 though! It's my home and I don't wanna see it disappear... And because I don't want to deal with captcha anymore. Is it me or have they gotten harder?
You should have just switched to legacy.
What if there were one day passes with even more special features?
