You realize the reason they want to abandon it is because everyone including Adobe even acknowledges how fucking old and busted flash is.

I'm not kidding, they literally stated that their own software sucks.
Open Sourcing it is fine for academic purposes or just to play old flashes, but if you seriously want to keep flash being a standard and hoping people will make new flash content then that's pretty silly.
If it's just the tools for creating/playing flash that you guys are addicted to then you know those could always be recreated just in better software.

Flash is a container for content(generally movies or games) that would play in your borwser.
It was basically the predecessor to YouTube.
It got hated over time for being terrible to program in, resource heavy on your browser and better things got used for commercial development... so over time everyone started to forget about it.

/f/ is a board that holds all that content.

I don't really care at this point whether it's a standard or not, but a ton of older content will be lost if Adobe sets fire to Flash and never releases the source code. Sure someone could reverse engineer it, but that would take a ton of time. Having the source to Flash CC or CS6 would be great as well.
Also the Venezuelan central bank will have to provide flash player past 2020 if Adobe kills it.
