What is the non pejorative equivalent of "weeaboo"? "Japanphile with a special interest in modern Japanese medias"? Isn't there a shorter way to say that without resorting to weeaboo?
based tribal callsignbro
I don't get the obsession with labeling yourself, but "otaku", though also pejorative, seems to be the superior alternative, since anyone who calls themselves a "weeaboo" or similar is guaranteed to be a niwaka.

Otaku just means obsessive, it's always supposed to be used like "train otaku", "anime otaku" etc, and is also pejorative.
キモオタ

If you find yourself in a position to declare yourself some label to people often then you won't quality for it in the first place. This in general, not just "weeaboo".
Talk about your interests. That's it. It's not hard.

Burgers that unironically call themselves otaku don't know that.
>>1475434
The closest English equivalent to "otaku" is probably "neckbeard".

You should be more suspicious of someone who calls himself an otaku than someone who calls himself a weeaboo.
