What does chess teach you about?
Is it mostly pattern recognition and learning to respond to formulas with formulas?
>>
Learn math.
>>
It teaches you about chess. Saying anything else is treading into philosophical territory.

Nothing. Chess is for brainless idiots.

Learn to play a real strategy game like Hearthstone.

This since you need to know every opening, how to play during the end and a lot of other textbook strategies.
The other part is tactics which is where you have to be intuitively smart-

For a complete beginner, chess is a random game that the smart guy always beats you.
For a beginner, chess is a game with some memorization and mostly strategy
For an intermediate player, chess is a game with some strategy and mostly memorization.
There are no advanced players.
>>
There are advanced computers though

How old is the game (Chess)? We need to solve it, I can't lose in Tic Tac Toe I always win or get draw if the other player already solved it too

Wikipedia says chess is from the 7th century A.D. From what I remover reading chess has just to many possible states as the game progresses for modern computers to brute force all possible states. I don't have any experience programming chess ai or ai for that matter but from what I've gathered from some friends is that one of the ways you can program chess ai is to have it not consider all moves as valid. For example if a move results in the loss of your queen that move won't be considered or if a move leaves your king exposed it will be considered invalid. If you want to solve chess you could take that approach and try and setup a way to label certain sets of moves invalid but even then I believe there are a lot of different ways sets of moves can be grouped.

Why would you willingly play a game where you get cuckled by a computer when you can just play the Jong?
>>
>>1481569
They're not comparable, chess lacks luck/randomness.
>>
Chess teaches you that bughouse is vastly superior.
>>
>>1482911
>chess lacks luck/randomness
Which is exactly why Funjong is better. It's exactly why mahjong AIs will never be significantly better than the best human players.
Also, the person who wins any chess game is very likely to be the person who has been playing it for longer. I honestly don't understand why people like it.

>Also, the person who wins any chess game is very likely to be the person who has been playing it for longer.

That's true for pretty much any skill based competition. That's like saying the person who has been playing soccer longer is more likely to win.
What you do is you have people of equal skill range compete, then it's much more of a tossup on who will win.
The thing I prefer about playing chess is the zero luck element of it, or at least the very little luck. All the information is available to you at any time, so if you lose it's entirely your fault and not chance's.
