They don't do marijuana either.

marijuana aka the devils lettuce is trash and dumb to smoke

Do you happen to be an expert on this subject?
If not, then you're just repeating words.
Like a parrot

Japan is in the 1970s in regard to psychiatry; in many respects, it's got the "suck it up and deal!" attitude. (This also partially explains why the suicide rate is so high.)
>>
>>1469463
I happen to be an expert and >>1469457 is more or less correct.
>>
>>1469506
I think the attitude is more like, 'don't step out of line and cause a problem for your family/coworkers.'
>>
>>1469506
>suck it up and deal
Not much worse than "drug it up and ignore".

I want to take antidepressants but my mom won't let me
>>
>>1469514
I'd much rather have the option available to drug up and ignore than not, all things considered. (I myself have treatment-resistant depression and atypical neurochemistry; no amount of just talking about stuff will help, alas.)

Why would I know? SSRIs saved my life, though.

Really? Can you elaborate? What drug? I've had a bottle of Effexor sitting here for 2 months and I'm afraid to start it.

Paxil back when I was in my mid teens. I'm now in my 30's and I've tried coming off of it but it just doesn't work.
>>
>>1470321
How are you supposed to get over issues without getting hooked on prescription medication?
>>
>>1470321
I was put on Paxil when I was 13 too. I was a stubborn kid and was essentially forced to take these drugs, though, so I wouldn't take them consistently and would pretend to take them and hide them, so i never had a full normal consecutive dosing of them, but I was put on so many. They finally broke me when I tried to kill myself while on Lexapro. I recently learned that they just settled a multi billion dollar lawsuit for bribing psychiatrists to prescribe them to children even though studies didn't approve them for them, I was one of those kids put on it when it first came out. But after that I ended up taking the anti depressants for like 7 jmonths straight, but was sent to live with my aunt and uncle who were hardcore religious and thought drugs were evil, and I didn't want to take them anyway so they let me stop. After that my anxiety shot through the roof and I had all sorts of side effects and felt much worse than I ever was before I was put on these drugs.

I've never recovered from that, only got worse in some cases though tried to improve myself. I feel my brain hasn't developed properly from these drugs and I will probably feel better on them than I do now, even though I'd be more myself if I'd never been put on them in the first place.

Still i'm scared they will fuck me up more and I don't want to start.

>Japs don't use SSRIs?
That's not really what the article says, just that fewer have been approved there.

Surely there are better places to be discussing this than here....

>atypical neurochemistry

How do you know?

No physical test can prove this, there is no blood test or brain scan to prove whether or not someone has a chemical imbalance in their brain.

Is actually completely unproven, it's a myth.

There is no test for chemical imbalanced of the brain, and no psychiatric drug has ever been proven to fix a chemical imbalance in the brain.

It's pseudoscience.

This. If your brain develops with ssris, by the time you realize you need to take responsibility the neuroplasticity isn't there anymore and you're stuck with a faulty brain.

Nice pseudoscience.

Oh, sweet summer autist, time to disabuse you of some of your "I haven't experienced this, so it must not be true" attitude.

My psychiatrists, for one, disagree with you. If I get calmer from stimulants, need higher doses of anaesthetics, don't react much at all to opioids, get side effects like "flavor perversion" from some classes of drugs, and sleep twelve hours a day from tricyclics, that is considered "not usual". Some would even call it "atypical!" Those people include doctors! Can *you* say "atypical"? Very good!
>>
>>1471903
Then why does my face hurt in public because I have to make fake expressions all the time?
>>
>>1473024
You're just different.
>>
Speaking of anti-depressants the ones I was tking had no effect on me and I'm going to get new ones.
>>
>>1470331
I'm not "hooked". I came off it without any side effects other than depression returning which it was developed to treat.

>>1470333
>After that my anxiety shot through the roof and I had all sorts of side effects and felt much worse than I ever was before I was put on these drugs.
You've never supposed to suddenly stop any medication and anti-depressants are no exception. Your body gets used to it and when the "supply" stops abruptly it's going to be rough sailing.
