Why do the mods block proxies and Tor exits when 4chan passes are a thing?
Do they hate money?
Are they just incompetent?
Why not allow pass users to use whatever proxy service they want?
>>1435402
Spam reasons?
Shared IPs are a problem.
What if you catch a proxy/VPN/Tor node that's been permabanned for furry porn spam?
You wouldn't want your pass to associate with that.
>>1436254
Yeah, or child porn spam.
>>1436256
I avoided saying that on purpose but yeah, that's my point.
>>1436244
The whole point of passes is they cost money and function like a user account.
Ban them and you've banned the person.
They can make a new one, but they have to PAY 4CHAN $20 TO DO SO
>>1436258
It's not illegal to mention the existence of child pornography.
An even bigger mystery is:
>Tor/proxies get used by people to evade bans
>Tor/proxies get banned across the board
>Phoneposting is used by people to evade bans
>Phoneposting isn't banned across the board
WHY
>>1436531
it's harder to set up a bot to use phones to spam boards
>>1436538
No but it's easy as fuck to funnel the traffic through a phone through the use of a mobile hotspot.
Paid VPNs are usually rangebanned rather than blanket banned. The 4chan pass does bypass those.
>>1436564
Yeah well I logged into a VPN a couple days ago and it said it was blocked (unbypassable with a pass) for being a ``Tor exit node'' (it wasn't, it was a VPN) only a couple months ago.
So the mods obviously don't know what's up
>>1436557
it's very easy to funnel lots of traffic through one phone but it's much harder to wire up your computer to a hundred phones and shitpost from them all t the same time
>>1436538
Regardless, that's why we have the CAPTCHA and/or passes.
Spam isn't an issue because of that.
>>1436567
It's not impossible that your VPN also runs tor exit nodes.
>>1436586
>Spam isn't an issue because of that.
I'd bet 4chan's spam filter blocks at least 100 times the spam as captcha. That and pre-existing bans.
>>1436590
Nah I checked on Tor Atlas, not a relay.
I guess it could have been one before, but either way it should have been given a pass bypassable ban instead.
That's basically the only reason I bought a pass, so I could use 4chan while pirating shit on a VPN
>>1435402
Proxies and Tor nodes are typically banned the traditional way instead of rangebans. So you can't evade them with a pass.
>>1436761
Exactly.
Wtf is wrong with them?
Why would anybody buy a pass if not to use a VPN?
