The study of ethics is just people asking philosophical questions about ethics, they're not trying to teach people to be more ethical.

I feel like most humans don't posses any empathy or compassion. They just do what benefits them first and foremost, doesn't matter that someone else gets fucked over.

You can't be so certain.
