if you add something like potassium nitrate and sulfur to the flour, you can make an explosive, the potassium nitrate ignites and the sulfur helps react the flour into forming large mounts of gasses quickly, the flour basically acts as the fuel
warning: do not try this at home as this is dangerous, which is fairly obvious
