They also refuse to embrace the real solution, nuclear technology, and instead try to embrace the false messiah of solar power, when they don't realize that solar panels are made out of pure fucking evil that will poison the air and the water when mining and refining, would make us more dependent on (((China))), and are made out of materials too rare to supply the world.

So, the oil companies are paying scientists to create global warming hoaxes to make their jobs harder? What?
>>
>>95332681
The problem is, we don't have enough scientific data. I believe climate change is real, I believe global warming is real. I also believe they have happened in the past and again, we don't have the scientific data to prove it.

A period of global warming was experienced in the mid 10th century to early 16th century. This period saw Norsemen like Lief Ericsson travel to Iceland and Greenland with wooden longboats via routes that today require the most advanced icebreakers.

We also know the melting of oceanic ice leads to a breakdown in ocean currents, which results in periods of global cooling. Consider that Great Britain is often warmer than areas on the same latitude in the Western Hemisphere; this is because ocean currents drive warm air across these areas. The last time we had a period of great global cooling, Napoleon was ousted from Russia and George Washington crossed an ice-choked Delaware River.

I think we are being disingenuous when we take a bunch of scientific studies by globalist scientists and compile them together to form some sort of hodgepodge conclusion that the scientists themselves did not even agree with. I think the greater threat is in polluting our groundwater, and overpopulation in Western areas leading to a lack of water. Water will be in the 22nd century what oil was in the 20th and 21st.

But liberals refuse to acknowledge this because they can't read past whatever opinion piece is being shoved down their throats by a woman on HuffPost that graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Gender Studies. They push the idea that arbitrary rises in global temperature are a danger, while the rest of the world continues to be fucked over. These are the same people that think the uptick in forest fires are due to global warming when in reality, forests need to burn or we have forest fires (just like controlled burns on prairies). But we can't let nature happen because we continually settle in areas that should not be settled in.
>>
>>95332681
>Is the climate changing?

Probably.

>Is it mankind's fault?

My problem with it all is that it more or less comes down to this; "whaah climate change is real so now you and your neighbours should use these energy friendly lights cause that will totally stop it!" Meanwhile said energy friendly lights are made in a country where they pollute, waste and basically hold the majority share on what everyone is advocating everyone else about. I can clean up my front yard but if the entire neighborhood (meaning countries on the other side of the world) do not give a shit then nothing can really change.

You know, climate change is a consistent event that has happened since the Earth was formed. Claiming that humans can alter the very planet to a significant degree is just plain narcissism.
>>
>>95336347
Wrong? There is plenty of historical evidence to suggest it was very much indeed global. Our massive oceans are interlinked, and when our currents slow, they effect the other bodies of water. One can only assume there were greater local effects in areas that depend upon the warmer currents (Western Europe) but we can't deny the total effect was global.

Climate change is real.
Global warming is real.
Melting ice cap is real.

But it doesn't matter, we as human beings, do not have the power, control or will to stop extinction or climate change. We do not have the power to control natural phenomenons such as global warming.

The belief that ceasing human activity, will reduce, stop, control or influence natural phenomenon is hubris.

>implying anyone denies climate change

There were some Republicans way back in the mid 2000s that tried to repudiate climate change back when the Republican party was getting big money from Big Oil. Obviously now it's Obama and the DNC that get sweet, sweet OPEC money, but they saw how little effect denying climate change had, so they just have large Democract-style regulations to kill smaller businesses, like trying to out right kill oil business here in the US because >muh climate change, while at the same time fueling a war for a Saudi-Qatari pipeline through Syria.

Anyway, the 5 year prediction model of "scientists" from the UN actually fell short and their hypothesis was wrong, and of course all of their data used as narrow data points as possible to push the myth so the UN could get substantiated through the global Carbon Tax from the Paris Agreements. No one denies climate change exists, we've been through Ice Ages before, and the world had volcanoes all erupting at once when a meteor hit our planet.

The problem is that if you look at data that actually spans 100s of thousands of years, instead of just a data set of 200, 100, or even 5 years, you can clearly see that there is no correlation between CO2 emission and climate change. We're coming out of a mini ice-age now, so naturally, the world will increase its temperature. Saying "LOOK NO SNOW THIS SEASON, GLOBAL WARMING" is hardly scientific.

Of course if you want to be a religious science-denier, go ahead.

Real climate /sci/entist here. Here are 3 of my basic arguments:
1. CO2 absorb/re-emit infrared, while let visible light pass through - a phenomenon in which scientist called "greenhouse" gas behavior. This is fundamental 19th century physics and easily reproducable experiment.

2. CO2 in the atmosphere is rising due to fossil fuel. This is due to ratio of carbon isotopes, 12C compared to 13C in the atmosphere getting more enriched in 12C. Data comes from measurements since the 60's and before that from ice core records, which unlike other proxies contain actual sample of earth's past atmosphere trapped in their bubbles (pic related). Again this is non-controversial.

So what happens when you add gas which exhibit greenhouse behavior artificially into the atmosphere? Fundamental physics states that you will change the energy balance of the system due to conservation of energy. This is observable in

3. Satellites can record energy in (sunlight integrated over area) from light detector pointed at the sun and energy out of earth from light detector pointed towards Earth.
http://www.giss.nasa.gov/research/briefs/hansen_16/

What we observe is that the Earth's is currently at energy imbalance, just like as the simple physics predicted. The energy imbalance must go somewhere due to conservation of energy, and it warms both the atmosphere and the ocean.
>>
>>95337214

Global warming is real because my liberal overlords and scientists who stand to make a profit hawking inconclusive research say so.
>>
>>95337026
Remember the last extinction?

When carbon dioxide was sucked off by silicate rocks that was newly exposed to the atmosphere by natural phenomenons such as earthquake and volcanic activity?

It caused an ice age that killed 95% of life on earth? Took millions of years to bounce back? While our North and south pole is still frozen. Before you talk shit about carbon dioxide, global warming or fear mongering about rising sea levels. Just remember, Sahara desert used to be an ocean. Carbon dioxide is food for plants. Carbon dioxide keep earth warm for life to grow.

80% of the carbon emitted since the Industrial revolution was emitted by developed nations - from this developed nations built 1st world countries, technologies, wealth and infrastructures with it. It is not fair to kneecap people on the developing world when 80% of the problem is due to developed world and the developed world have already reap the gains for it.

Going by total carbon emitted makes more sense than annual emission. Despite China being #1 emitter and India being #3 GHG (greenhouse gas) annual emitter, their total contribution to the total anthropogenic emission is small compared to what the developed countries like ours have emitted.

>super nova
You mean exit the main sequence and become a red giant. Supernova is where Earth is destroyed as sun explodes (can't happen; sun too small). Becoming a red giant is where the sun expands so much that it engulfs the Earth.

That's not going to happen for another 5 billion years. If humanity hasn't built sufficient rocket technology to evacuate the Earth and move to a comfy and safe planet elsewhere in FIVE BILLION YEARS, then we deserve it.

nuclear isn't necessarily the safest either
current technology produces waste, toxic for thousands for years.

In the beginning it is concentrated, as time goes on, more and more of it leaks. Isolation is the only solution pursued by the nuclear industry as of today.

Yeah whenever they're available as dictated by the market sure. But if you live in major cities like Mumbai or Beijing, the infrastructure is already there and they would be kneecapping themselves out of economic development forcing solar panel through their aerosol haze.

It was never about whether or not anthropological climate change existed, but about to what degree our influence actually mattered, how much we could do about it, and at what cost.

The truth is that industrialization cannot be stopped and Liberals never had the will to do it. If they had wanted to, they wouldn't have fought nuclear.

All of the "sustainable" energy bullshit is just that. Bullshit. Solar panels are all made in China out of rare earth elements that are produced by horrendous mining processes that dump thousands of gallons of mercury and chemicals into the water. Lithium for the batteries of electric cars is even worse. Wind power is a meme. Geothermal is too dependent on geography.

There was no way out. China was not going to stop burning coal, and as the rest of the third world industrializes they're going to start, and they're going to do a LOT worse than China ever did.

If we had agreed to cripple ourselves we would have merely thrown away our civilization for nothing.

Holy shit I honestly hope you guys are trolling. No one can be this legitimately retarded or at least not with so much self confidence. Glacier are not seasonal. Glacier can be widely observed to have withdrawn considerably, from tourists to scientists around the world the evidence is plainly there for naked eyes to see.

DAILY REMINDER

* A doubling of preindustrial CO2, absent any feedbacks, would result in a maximum forcing of +1.2C.

* The General Circulation Models, and the IPCC, predict 2-8C of warming because AGW theory assumes a positive H2O feedback. They assume that if CO2 causes a little warming, the atmosphere will hold more water vapor which will lead to a lot of warming.

* The warming predictions cover such a large range because everyone assumes a different average H2O feedback rate.

* Every GCM based on this assumption has failed to model temperatures for the past 17 years. They are all trending too high.

* In the late 1990's the modelers themselves stated that if they missed their predictions for more then a decade that would falsify AGW theory.

* There is no data to suggest a +H2O feedback either now or in Earth's past.

* If there is no +H2O feedback then we literally have nothing to worry about.

* The average climate change believer knows none of this. Politicians, citizens, activists, surprisingly even a lot of scientists are literally ignorant of the theory and the math. In their mind it's simply "CO2 = bad" and "experts say we're warming faster then ever."

last time I checked its a theory or model just like what we think of the atom as
when he made the model for dna they had never seen it either
or maybe i totally misunderstood either what he found or the tech we had

>A SLIGHT INCREASE IN THE AVERAGE GLOBAL TEMPERATURE IS A THING

THAT DOESN'T NECESSARILY MEAN CARBON DIOXIDE IS THE CAUSAL LINK

WHEN A LIBTARD FAGGOT STARTS PISSING AND MOANING ABOUT CLIMATE CHANGE, WHAT THEY WANT IS CARBON TAX AND GOVERNMENT RAMMING THE PEOPLE DEEPER IN THE ASS

DNA could refer to the molecules themselves or to the theory explaining how biological creatures are formed from these molecules. The second one is indeed a model. Israel is also one of the last countries in a position to attack others for their education. :|

This man is right.

The is nothing wrong with protecting the environment and I think every country should do their part.

Funnily since this whole climate change shit nothing improved at all. I'm separating my trash like a retarded little good goy while the big pollutioners gayly carry on polluting. Only difference is that now they put a pretty green label with random animal on their products.

There was S no solution, even when f we stop all carbon out put right now all over the world, we would slow down the trend by what? Ten years?

Storms have gotten stronger, but tye sea level barely rose 2 millimeters... the predictive models are bullshit... and they only thing climate laws are doing now massively taxing the poor country and making a bunch if immigrants.
>>
>>95332681
I think it's more so that people don't believe in global warming. Yes, I agree that climate change is real, but there isn't enough evidence to prove that global warming is as real as it is portrayed. I'm not denying the theory; I'm just saying that it is possible that it's all part of climate change.
