They're designed to function well in a wind tunnel, that's why they all look like gay amorphous blobs now.
>>
The only people I see driving old 70s bangers are "tough guys" who probably have small penis
>>
>>92551254
fuck, the 80s looked grim.
>>
it has nothing to do with any kind of conspiracy you're thinking of...

they're designed to be as brutally efficient as possible.

This one looks okay.

What looks cool about old cars is that they have flat hoods. Unfortunately these are rigid and when they hit something/someone all the force goes to the driver or the thing being hit. That's why all modern cars have curved hoods and panels, so that they collapse and absorb force upon impact.

i made this comment the other day to my gf

There are some that are designed to appeal to our "lizard brain" but it's becoming fewer and fewer. We live in a World where schools go on lock-down if someone spots a clown...

Why they don't make sick coupes and convertibles anymore? I want to buy a decent American coupe or convertible and American manufacturers didn't make them for quite a while
>>
>>92557198
Cadillac has a couple coupes, Buick just released a convertable, and I think Lincoln's working on one
>>
>>92551254
they look okay now, they hit their worst in the 80s-90s.

I prefer 30s-50s, but they're not efficient.
>>

>Cadillac has a couple coupes
Ugly CTS\ATS are ugly. Interiors look and feel too cheap for that price.

>Buick just released a convertable
Buick make Opel knock-offs, nothing decent anymore.

>Lincoln's working on one
I don't know why they didn't release a luxury version of Mustang like a decade ago.
>>
nah they have to have smooth fronts for tar babies riding thier bikes with zero self awareness of the cars on the road

Those cars aren't new, but yes, they are ugly as fuck.
>>
Most cars are designed for 'safety' now, basically if you hit a pedestrian with those old square blocky cars you'd fuck them up, pin them into whatever you're probably going to hit and outright kill them. Newer cars have a more domed front and rounder edges so pedestrians can roll to the side / over the top if they get hit, less likely to get completely irreparably fucked.

>>92551254

I'm sorry about your shit taste, man.

They looked great in the 80's, and the early 90's were the final evolution of Greatest gen. Car design. mid-late 90's were a mixed bag, everything that was boxy in the 80's, became smoothed and rounded, and since headlight restrictions eased up, everything got special molded headlights.

then after the turn of the millennium things got rounded and even more "aerodynamic" because of fuel economy concerns, and styling kept going wilder because computers started taking over as the dominant design tool, whereas before it had to work with a block of clay or wood, making more angular boxy shapes more attractive to make.

then obama started upping regulations, and now you have sky high beltlines because "muh pedestrian safety", and then Ford started the trend of globalizing car design, so instead of having region specific cars with region specific styling, that new Ford Focus has to sell in both the US, and Europe, so naturally, it will pander to Europe's tastes and sensibilities first and foremost. So everything tries to imitate coupe hatchback designs, without actually being hatchbacks and still having 4 doors, and since Large displacement engines are

A. problematic in Europistan, and B. taxed to shit here because "muh trees", everything is 4 or 6 cylinder cuck engine with turbos slapped on. What Ford pretentiously calls "ecoboost".

legacy cars like Mustangs, Camaros, etc are the only cars really made with big V8's anymore, and even the Mustang may be losing it's V8 soon in favor of "ecoboost v4"

I do wonder though, if there is also deeper significance behind horrible styling these days- after all, if a man can get a rustic, manly looking SUV, he might get troublesome ideas of masculinity in his head and we can't have that, so all SUV's are mommobile bars of soap bloated with "safety features"
