Although CTR may be in violation of federal election law (they're relying on a supposed "loophole" in the law, which may or may not be viable), with respect to the FTC shill activity may well be protected as political speech under the First Amendment. I am speculating here.

2) The class action thing suggested in 91819187 is a little nutty, but maybe not entirely so.

-- Any current or former federal law clerks perusing this board who could take a hack at it? Is there a viable theory buried in the morass of federal law?

3) I really like the whistleblower claim, if cfg's research supports such a claim. The claim could be made by the key researcher or researchers with the possible award divided accordingly.
