Basically. They had no food, little supplies, a very poor supply chain, and a great deal of illness/casualties before fighting even took place.

For some reason, Soviet leadership believed that their army would be able to scavenge supplies as they invaded. However the invasion ground to a halt very quickly, and there was no appropriate supply chain to support them.

If the force had been properly supplied, Finland probably would have lost badly.

We had swedish generals in the Finnish War, whose "tactic" was literally endless retreat.
First battle literally happened because he stopped for too long to take a break, Russian troops managed to catch up and got utterly blown to pieces. Then it was retreat again.
As much as I hate Russians, being turned into a Russian Grand Duchy ranks pretty high on 'good stuff that has happened to Finland'.

in winter war finland had Mannerheim, he was better than Voroshilov , he was was general in Russian empire before revolution and participated in ww1.

Russian forces were led by Voroshilov, he was incompetent politician and did not participate in a single real battle, so he ordered his people to attack Manerheim fortification line, He acted same way as ukrainian Poroshenko today, he simply assaulted fortifications.

Russian have broken finish defence, but with high cost. Karelia was annexed.
