It's horseshoes and hand grenades. Rail, faster ships, and such make the whole thing really a guesstimate. When people report having 4/4 grandparents from a country and they match other people's DNA segments, then they classify that DNA as "Italian" or whatever.

My grandfather is 100% Italian, but his results say he's 10% middle eastern. If you actually check the results for Middle eastern it's fucking wide and extends into southern Italy, where we know his grandfather (and great grandparents, etc.) are from.

I've tested with 3 other companies for comparison, but not ancestry, yet.
ftDNA, 23andme, LivingDNA.
With the exception of spurious <0.1%'s and company identified "low confidence regions", none of the tests I have taken have ever shown me up to be anything but European. I have never had Jewish, nor African, not even as spurious, low confidence regions. Only ever tiny bits of Asian, which might not even be false, as I might share some affinity with east Asians by way of my Finnic and Russian ancestry.

The tests might not always be that precise, or reliable when you bore into higher definition regional breakdowns, but they're not scams. They actually genotype you, and you can confirm that they do by downloading your raw data from each company, loading them all into a GEDmatch account, and comparing the results each of the data produces when run through the same calculator.

If something shows up as <1%, it can generally be discounted. If it shows up as <4%, it's possible, it's also possible you're some weird peripheral kinda person. around 6.25% it's both kinda undeniable that you have something in you, but if it's <6.25% it probably won't affect your identity anyway. By 12.5% you definitely have something, even if it doesn't affect your identity.
8% African isn't negligible.
18% South Asian is even less negligible, and definitely means you're of mixed heritage, no matter how difficult that is for you to accept.

One thing I've noticed with a lot of autosomal tests is their inability to really accurately parse apart North and West Europe, anywhere affected by Germanic peoples, particularly where they moved into previously Celtic lands.
With Britain and Western Europe, the West Germanic peoples essentially did this, moving into previously Celtic lands, and mixing up. The North Germanic, Nordic peoples also affected these same populations through everything from Viking raids to Sweden's warring in Europe.
As a result, both British and Scandinavian components tend to be over-reported, often at the expense of Western European components, although inversely, Western Euro can be over-reported where no record of it exists.

The South Asian ancestry is a bit of a conundrum. It falls within the 1 great grandparent to 1 grandparent range. 1 grandparent would be entirely possible after the war in Britain, I think, but OP would know about it if one of his parents were from Britain and one of his grandparents were Indian. The only explanation I can think of is that OP may have ancestry from some really far flung part of of Southern/Eastern Europe, right on the border with Asia and from a population which, although maybe considered "European", shares a more ancient affinity with the South Asian populations. Perhaps from the Caucasus or Anatolia, although I'm still not sure why it would show up specifically as South Asian in those instances, and with an absence of Middle Eastern.
The African I think is more easily explained. In spite of expansive one-drop rules covering much of the states, mixing did happen, and in rural backwaters those mulatto kids could've discretely folded back into the white population surreptitiously enough that they were overlooked by authorities.

23andme was pretty accurate when I did it. 2/3 British and Irish and 1/3 French and German. They lump the Limeys & Micks and Frogs & Krauts in two categories because their DNA is very similar. Well, my dad's side is almost completely English and Scottish while my mother is Dutch and German with a little bit of Irish, so it was pretty accurate. They said I was 0.1% Jewish and 0.1% Sub-Saharan Africa... I guess anything is possible. The black could be due to some very distant colonial southern ancestry. The Jew part is harder for me to grasp because my ancestors come from rural parts of Europe. They said when you have 0.1% ancestry, it means the ancestor could have been born as early as 1810, but no sooner. Only a few branches on my family tree have been mapped out that far so I'll probably never be able to verify that.

The problem is that there's the genetic reality, and then the arbitrary boxes we place that genetic reality into.

There is no 'Spanish gene' - there's Y-haplogroup R1b, which is a combination of alleles inherited from a common ancestor.

At the edges, certain alleles can be so old and widely distributed that it's hard to say where and when they emerged. This is often why otherwise European people get strange results that indicate Asian, African, or Native American DNA - science has arbitrarily said your allele is African, and only some study 20 years from now will ever look and see 'Oh, this is a basal allele,' and re-assign it so that all those 99.999% Europeans become 100%.
