On the surface it's similar to western socities, due to globalization. Deep down, it's nothing like that. People tend to follow the western trends on the outside, but have deeply rooted principles that westerners would refer to as primitive.
For example, we tend to be nationalistic, some nations more than others, but on some basic level, each and every nation east/south of Austria, has some sort of a nationalist tendency that's regularly presented in both the right and left parts of the political spectrum.
While we all agree that nation states are horrible racist sexist homophobic entities etc., we feel as if that principle should only apply to the west, not to us. In fact, we have every right to be all of those things, and more, because we are the true victims. Some nations identify as victims of communism, some as victims of western imperialism, and some as victims of historical oppression of all sorts. That depends solely on which cultural movements within our states came to more societal power after the fall of the Berlin Wall. In my country, the Right holds monopoly over the flag and ethno-nationalist principles, but the Left holds monopoly over the hate towards our neighbors, because the left sees the historical oppression of said neighbors, and acts hostile towards them, in a way protecting our national interests while simultaneously disregarding and deconstructing the internal ethno-nationalist ideals of the Right, which is of course, due to recent historical developments, friendly towards the west.

Similarly, while we all agree that feminism is a fantastic and progressive ideal that the west deserves, we don't feel as if we deserve it as well.
For one, our economy was trash during communist period, which of course meant females were already emancipated so that they could work just like males, family values were not a priority, and nobody gave a fuck about reproductive rights, because nobody wanted to reproduce in a society so devoid of any meaning outside of whatever the Party line was at any given time. That said, fall of communism brought back a lot of traditional values, which were allowed to grow mainly because communism was so boring and offered no alternatives for such a long time.
This is why eastern societies tend to have some strong moral principles and promotion of traditional values, yet at the same time have no qualms with what the westerners describe as "degenerate behavior", been there, done that. It's not a matter of principle, it's a matter of your economic and spiritual situations.

Because of historical squalor and misery, combined with communist "emancipation" of women, there was never really a period of time where our societies would be completely and utterly patriarchal. Yes, from western viewpoint contemporary societies are, but women in the west understand their role as one that is powerless, and male role as one that is powerful, and that is the direct consequence of democracy, because democracy preaches equality and seeks remaining positions of power in order to dismantle them. In the East, all we ever knew was despotism, despotism of the elites, who were males and females, with their gender roles utterly irrelevant to our situation. Both men and women are aware of their differences and their societal roles, and have very little reason to fight for their rights, when they're aware that in the big picture, they're allies against the elite, not opponents within democracy, as naive westerners see it.

You know it's going to happen, and you know nobody will do anything about it. If you live in the country, you're more likely to deal with criminals on your own, if you live in urban areas, you're more likely to engage in criminal acts yourself. In any case, you don't expect authorities to help you out, and you definitely don't consider them your protectors, but rather as your prosecutors.

No such thing as "customer is always right". Customer is a piece of shit, and you are the greatest thing that ever happened to the world. He's supposed to be quiet and let you scam him out of his money, and then say thank you. That mentality stems directly from socialism, where being too much of a customer was considered capitalist, and being too productive of a worker, was considered having bourgeois mentality.

No such thing as anti-state sentiment. The "nanny state", as westerners refer to it, is basically what we live under. It gives out gibz, it takes away tons of taxes, then redistributes those taxes amongst the elites. Corruption within state is so common that nobody ever looks into it, in fact people who are good at being corrupt, are considered heroes, and are extremely popular, especially if they avoid being persecuted. Corruption is in a way not even considered a crime, because we all do it. In fact, the only way to get a job is via nepotism. Corruption is present on all levels of society, and most people can be bribed into helping you out in illegal ways.
