Came here to say this. Moore has a surprising amount of knowledge of and respect for classic science-fiction. +100 is The Foundation crossed with Earth Abides with a touch of 'Crossed' to it. Once he left the writing declined but it still had cool elements to it like hillbilly Caesar riding around in a tank covered in human skulls. Also the ending was surprisingly not too bad by Crossed standards.

Crossed, I always viewed it's main theme as being the insanity of society swallowing up every last bit of goodness that can be found. It's a horror comic that uses allegory as a tool to make light of the reality of the world we are in by being way over the top with degeneracy and violence. Everything /pol/ hates can be found in the Crossed that hunt down the humans. It's a lot more interesting than any other zombie/apocalypse horror being made these days.

I grew up watching gory movies and loving them, movies like Dawn of the Dead, The Thing, Return of the Living Dead, Re-Animator etc. I fucking loved gory movies from 70s, 80s, 90s.
Those movies are amazing. SAW is mild compared to some of the really good old movies.

The problem with a lot of new stuff is how sexual and gross it is. Watching something like Drag Me to Hell, It Follows or Babadook is just disgusting, and it has nothing to do with the monsters. It's how the movies are filmed, the way it looks, how it sounds. It's just gross. There is a bit in It Follows where the monster pees itself for no reason, and it's just fucking disgusting.
Even a mild terrible movie like Babadook gets disgusting, and not because of the monster. The monster just looks like a shitty drawing. The real nasty shit is the way people act, how the little kids acts, how the mom looks, the entire feel of the movie. It's just physically disgusting.

I really like the idea of Crossed, and I would love to see it done properly, but it is so badly written that I've been spending way too much time on 4chan critiquing it and making up my own lore and rules for the world of Crossed to make it more interesting.
At one point Crossed explored the concept of leaders for the infected and how the groups operate, but that stuff got dropped pretty quickly. The Crossed universe seems to have no consistency and no recurring characters, just random short stories with edgy gore.
