I know many people who don't like his music but respect him for being true to Michigan. He constantly donates money to Michigan/Detroit causes. He owns "Made in Detroit" clothing (bought them when they were about to go under), has a pretty bland beer (Badass Beer) made here, and is part owner of Shinola watches (I think).
