>“Furie wants one thing to be clear: Pepe the Frog does not belong to the alt-right. As this action shows, Furie will aggressively enforce his intellectual property, using legal action if necessary, to end the misappropriation of Pepe the Frog in any way that espouses racism, white supremacy, Islamophobia, anti-Semitism, Nazism, or any other form of hate. He will make sure that no one profits by using Pepe in alt-right propaganda--and particularly not by targeting children.”

Wow he really got btfo. Who could afford to pay such a vast sum of money for a simple redpilling of the next generation?
>>139706110
Furie's vain flailing will stop nothing. We own Pepe through and through. He forgot how we got him in the first place.
That's called copyright infringement, anon, it has nothing to do with memes. Memes transcend legality and the pathetic creator of pepe can't handle that he doesn't have control over his character
>guy trying to profit off a meme loses his money to a guy who thinks he owns a meme. Money ends up going to a bunch of jihadi's in the end.
There's probably a lesson in there somewhere, whatever it is
This little nigger deserves the Anita Sarkesian treatment.

And yeah, this story is just a clusterfuck from beginning to end.

Now the kids will learn to love the alt right frog from an early age. Truly we are THE ultimate subversive force.

Couldn't this be argued? The original Pepe from Boys Club had green lips and did not wear the same clothing. Furthermore, the personality in the book will likely have nothing to do with the original character since the book is based on the memes which have diverged significantly from the webcomic source. The only traits they share are that they are frogs and share the same name.
Wouldn't the aurhor just have to prove that the Pepe in the book is inspired by the memes and not the webcomic?

it doesn't work like that
>Pepe the Frog does not belong to the alt-righ
No only he's not wrong, but also you should thank him from trying to save it from redditor hands AKA meme cementery.
He belongs to the robots.

How different does your character need to be from the source in order for it to no longer fall under copyright?
>>139706110
He sued somebody for illegally using his intellectual property in a profitable work. That is why it makes sense in that context.
He is not going to be able to sue all of these frogposters and rare pepe collectors because they aren't making money off that shit, they're not taking the character and purporting it to some tangible item with which they can distribute and sell. This is like if somebody, I don't know maybe a cartoon network creator, they saw how the internet is making all this art or edits or clips of their show characters and deciding that this is a gross violation of their IP's usage before telling the fans to delete everything or risk being tangled up in court affairs.

if that question had a simple, direct, and honest answer, we wouldn't need (((lawyers)))

KYS.

That is kind of what I figured. I do think they could win in claiming the book character is outside Furie's copyright, but the cost is just not worth it.
If the author had released it for free and not profitted, that faggot Furie could have done nothing but cry with his dick in a chastity cage.
