The greatest generation partied throughout the 1920s and then when the bill hit--I.e. The Great Depression --they cried how they were victims. Then, when Roosevelt wanted to confront Hitler early and perhaps avoid the need for war--at least a world war-- the Greatest Generation fought Roosevelt tooth and nail not to intervene against a rising Hilter. And Then when the Greatest Generation had to fight Hitler, all of a sudden they were wise and brave for confronting an evil which they themselves had allowed to arise.
