You have 10 seconds to tell me why this man wasn't the greatest president in history.

Protip: You can't.
>>
He plunged the american economy in the worst economic crisis of all time?

>Anarchist
Your historical and economical ignorance is excused, Mr. Antifa. Now let me educate you.

Calvin was the only president in history to reduce the size and influence of the government, and was extremely opposed to government intervention.

The Great Depression descended into the worst economic crash of all time only when the interventionist pseudo-Republican Herbert Hoover took over. Had Calvin's policies been continued, the 1929 crash would be but a minor blip on the historical radar - all the analysis of the depression supports this.

Of course it didn't help that a socialist was elected, causing the problem to worsen while literally ever other country on the planet started recovering by means of laissez-faire policies. Proof once and for all that governments can't steer economies.

"The curious task of economics is to demonstrate to men how little they really know about what they imagine they can design." - Friedrich Hayek, The Fatal Conceit.

I can't. Based Cal.

He was a tool of the Jews and caused the great depression.
>>
>>139629060
You are thinking of the Federal Reserve
>>
>>139629060
>The jews caused the great depression
>The great depression was the single biggest trigger for the uprising of the Nazi party
>The Nazi party was vehemently anti-jew and attempted to eradicate the Jewish people

Makes sense; the Jews wanted to kill themselves off?

Interesting how it was the socialist that saved the US during the Depression. Dipshit lazy repubs didn't want to do anythng

inb4 "hurr durr economy will correct itself just give it time"
>>

>Socialist that saved the US
He literally just doubled down on the policies already in place by Herbert Hoover. And what a surprise, the economy continued to worsen and as the policies had no positive impact for another few years.

>inb4 "hurr durr economy will correct itself just give it time"
Explain why that approach worked in literally every other country in the world. Europe recovered long before the United States and was hit just as bad.

No wonder you marxists are the retards of economics. All indications show that had they sat back and done nothing, the economy would have picked up long before and grown much faster.

Although I do admire his governing philosophy broadly and generally consider him the best US Executive of the 20th century, I think an argument can be made that he let Benjamin Strong over at the Federal Reserve have his way too much and may have indeed himself encouraged an artificial inflation of the naturally booming economy of the period.

>Coolidge often seemed uncomfortable among fashionable Washington society; when asked why he continued to attend so many of their dinner parties, he replied, "Got to eat somewhere."

Can someone give me a quick rundown on Coolidge? Major accomplishment?what was his governing style?
>>
>>139631101

He was basically a strict federalist. If he were President today, he would've shrugged his shoulders at the idea of sending federal aid down to Texas in light of Hurricane Harvey. Why? Because he respected the boundaries the Constitution gave to his office and that of the federal government as a whole, knowing full well that succumbing to pressure over principle would establish a terrible precedent that the country went on to fully realize nonetheless. There was a similar flooding of the Mississippi river during the 20's that served to highlight his personal philosophy with regard to Washington's role outside of it's proper constraints.

He liked to veto bills. "It is more important to veto a bad bill than sign a good one" pretty much sums up his view of the presidency.

I'd agree with you on that one. The Fed was to blame for the great depression, and I suppose Calvin has to take some responsibility for trusting them.

>>139631101
Sure thing anon. Put simply, he was the only president in history to reduce the government's influence and its size. Every other president has left office having expanded the size of the government. Calvin was a small-government conservative, very opposed to government regulation and intervention. Very hands-off president. Basically viewed the presidency as a job, not a lifestyle like everyone else.
As Ben Shapiro said on his show today praising his presidential style, "here's my job, I'm going to do my job and then go play golf. It's not important for me to be a public figure".
He was very much a constitutionalist, respected boundaries even when it would be deemed unpopular.

I think I remember hearing about that flooding and his quote about vetoing. He totally sounds like someone I'd support for potus. Too bad he's hardly discussed amongst other presidents.
>>
>>139629060
No, that would be Woodrow Wilson.

Thanks man. It sucks that being a politician is now a career choice instead of a humble public service.
