Why don't you cycle /pol/?

Reasons to give up the automobile:
> So you don't have to get in debt to the merchant banks to finance the thing
> No longer continuously spending money fueling your car, money which the wahhabist fucks use to fund terrorism.
> Avoid becoming a docile/obese cow (do you think the sugar induced obesity crisis happened by accident?)
> Without the car you're more likely to spend time and shop in your neighborhood thusly supporting independent businesses (stopping money being drained out the area by the far away megamart) and building an sense of community.
> You'll no longer be advertising a serial number that can be tracked.

Well /pol/?

The most important thing you can do for the white race is keep your own life in order. Start with yourself. You must be competent, reliable, hardworking, and, above all, happy. Do people in your life trust and respect you? What does your family think of you? Are you capable of raising children? And if you can't achieve such things for your self, then the chances are very high that you are not ready to be make a real difference in the world, either online or in real life. Because how can you make a difference for the race, for the lives of many, if you can't even make anything of your own, individual life?

Always remember: we live in first world countries and have opportunity that most people born on this planet do not. Things aren't as good for us as they were for our parents. But billions of people in the third world would still kill to have the opportunities that you do right now. So take care of yourself! Work your ass off, every day, to build a good life for you, and for your family. Clear your mind of self destructive thoughts, and keep yourself focused on realistic goals, both for your own life and for the race. Racialism isn’t a hobby or an internet game. It is the cumulative result of your entire life, from cradle to deathbed. So work like your life depends on it. Work like a demon from hell, but also do fun and wholesome things with real people in real life. That is very important. Nothing on the internet should ever take away from your real life.

Always remember: You are always alone. Your dead father’s fathers have gone through everything you face, and more. After death, you will meet them again. Make certain you become a man in life who is worthy of that meeting in death.

Always remember: You are never alone. We are here. We will not forget. And we will find one another. Make yourself certain you become a man in life who is worthy of that meeting in life.

You block traffic and feel like you are always going to be run over. Really a terrible experience

I recreationally ride my cruiser for a little exercise and fresh are almost daily 8-10miles. I stopped using the bike path alongside the road because I'm constantly dodging pedestrians or running up on their asses while they're walking their dogs/kids. Felt like an ass, plus the roads are like 25mph speed limits so it's not like I'm really holding anyone up.

Fuck the assholes in their spandex and $4k cycles that ride along the lines on the highway though. Fuck them in the ass.

https://www.theguardian.com/environment/bike-blog/2014/feb/20/air-pollution-cyclists-bike-blog

> The good, if simple, answer from pollution experts is: yes. Cycling does remain many, many times better for your health than not cycling, even factoring in exposure to pollution and the risk of accident. What’s more surprising is that on two wheels you might even be exposed to less of the smelly stuff than those using other forms of transport.

> Those who travel by car can experience five times higher pollution levels than those who cycle, and three and a half times more than those walking, according to an experiment by academics and campaigners.

>But personal ownership of a car is wasteful and part of (((their))) scheme.

This is too reductionist. Sure, a car is more expensive than a bike but a car is also much more VALUABLE than a bike, even if you don't use it. It's bigger investment. It's like me saying "Why buy a house when you can just live in a car?" Sure, it's cheaper, but there are a multitude of other reasons why you would make that investment outside of the steep cost alone.

I like to travel significant distances in minutes instead of hours.

However, let me tell you, these things are fucking uncomfortable and carrying shit gets awkward so I'm still likely to shop in my neighborhood.

But it does com with the added benefit of not having to participate in traffic. Cops only tolerate lane splitting at red lights or to pass pedalbikes, but it still means the distinct minority of bikefags is completely removed from the cars-holding-up-cars clusterfuck...everywhere it doesn't matter because nobody will tolerate it on backed up interstates unless it's california.

The problem is that if cyclists don't force the issue, they never get roads built with any consideration for their use, let alone infrastructure that helps them not get run over by distracted drivers.

As for who the roads were originally built for, the movement that pushed for nicely paved roads was started by cyclists (Good Roads movement led by Albert Pope, a Civil War vet and owner of a bicycle manufacturer) in the late 19th century. The same people continued lobbying for paving when motorcars started becoming a thing. So, in a sad way, cyclists were responsible for America's car culture.

You also can't exceed the speed limit, legally, but literally all cops let you go 9 over anyways (unless you're black or look like a crackhead), while some cops really have a hard on for YEW DUMBASS KIDS WIT NO RESPECTAMACATIONS FOR THE LAW CUTTIN IN LINE

Which is dumb because exceeding the speed limit by that much is significantly less safe than lane filtering, especially in cities where nobody has a reason to go 40mph and you're not making lights before other cars unless you add another 10mph to that and actually maintain that speed around corners (something unthinkable for most american drivers, who are taught in driving school to brake for each and every bend)

The shitty thing is that if I actually stop at a stop sign while out riding, I'm taking a very high risk of being rear-ended by a driver, because my fellow cyclists have trained drivers to think that cyclists will never stop at a fucking stop sign. Worse, since there's no enforcement of any traffic laws around my city, a lot of drivers are starting to ignore stop signs too, with the reasoning that if cyclists can do it and not get punished, they can, too.

These are legitimately dangerous on anything resembling rough terrain due to their significantly limited suspension travel, short wheelbase, poor rear suspension action due to the engine being unsprung weight, and small wheels that don't like to cross objects.

And by rough terrain I mean a slight bump in the pavement will cause scooters to catch air mid corner in a way you'd be lucky to see outside of irish motorcycle road racing.

Scooters are fashion accessories for people who don't want to show what's under their skirts.

I couldn't be bothered to search for it because I only vaguely remembered hearing about it. I suddenly remembered it was from Bath Uni and gave it a quick google so here you go.

I don't think the point is really that you should abandon safety gear, just that safety gear isn't the route to making cyclists safer on the roads. That said, there's also some people who suggest that helmets can cause more harm than good (neck injuries, mostly) in the event of a fall but I haven't looked in to it really. Manufacturers are definitely aware of the problem though.

While I agree it's gotten absurd now and they go out of their way to find people to shout at I think it started from a genuine place. Small mistakes can genuinely cost lives and things like cutting up someone on a bike can get a lot of adrenaline pumping which can cause you to get a little more irate than you should. It's not helpful though and it usually ends up putting them in a more dangerous position as they then chase the car to stick their finger up at it.

Yeah, motorcyclists like to cite similar shit. It's pretty astonishing.how stupid it is to leave your brain bucket on the rack behind your ass.

It's also sort of wrong-headed to say "safety equipment,, which I can control whether I use, is not the way to make me safer, instead vague changes in other people that I can;t control is the smart way to go." Unless you meant "safer BEHAVIOR by bike riders, as opposed to safer equipment, might be more important, in which case you might have a point,.

Recently poor, car broken, bike would be nice. Then realized the main roads (and I truly mean the main road, in a decent sized town) do not have sidewalks. It's very dangerous to walk or ride. I'm also talking about the bikers who will throw cigarette butts back inside someones car after someone throws it out at a red light. My only vehicle was a bike for a couple of years in one of the rainiest states, and I never had a problem because I used panniers, waterproof backpacks, etc.

However, some problems with bicycling:
-Lack of bicycle lanes, not safe to share the road with cars with people texting, tires slipping, etc.
-Ice/snow in the winter, I fell off a couple of times
-Can carry only small items
-Public transportation often doesn't go into residential areas, what if you want to visit your buddy who lives 20 minutes driving into the suburbs?

Better infrastructure and planning for bikes would make a big difference here, Europe at least mixes residential and business areas and builds bicycle paths everywhere.

Technically bikes are entitled to a full lane on the road and you have to treat them like a vehicle (give them enough clearacne, right of way, etc) but most bikers don't follow traffic laws anyway kek

And why would you bike on a highway

Bit of a convenience difference, and is your boss gonna give you the benefit of a doubt when your on time one day or 45 min late because bike issues, or let you change out of your spandex in the office every morning?
>>
>>139621854
>Technically bikes are entitled to a full lane on the road and you have to treat them like a vehicle
Yeah I know. That road looks the equivalent of our motorways though and you can't cycle on them. Just seems common sense to me, the speed difference is far too great. It seems obviously dangerous but there's also the congestion problem as causing a car to brake just a little can cause a tailback further behind you.

Biggest danger is when you brake. I started walking in the winter after I went down in the road trying to turn left at a light.

Portland is a great town minus the politics. I lived in Seattle for a few years myself; this experience is what unironically redpillled the sin out of me. The roads are nice and smooth up there. Definitely slick in the winter, and the hilly terrain doesn't help. It's actually terrifying coming from the flatlands. The infrastructure up there is definitely more suitable than it is in Texas by a longshot.

Funny enough, people in Portland complain about how "bad" the roads are around Seattle. I guess we're spoiled because the government meticulously keeps everything new. I'm amazed at how bad the roads are in other parts of the country, I would have bought a mountain bike instead.

Yeah. Also American urban planning, or rather the lack of it, has led to the average American simply not being able to survive without a car. Literally not being able to survive since the distance between a grocery store and the residential area is far too great to cover without a car.

While western Europe built cities with people in mind, the Americans did so with the car. Suburban and the rigid separation of residential and commercial areas has led to entire cohorts of people growing up isolated, without a sense of community. It's not good for the human psyche. And it's one of the reasons why the USA is known for producing notorious amounts of serial killers.

If you answer no to all of these 3 questions then you should take the bike. Having a bike doesn't mean that you don't have a car. When I have to travel to another city, of course I take the car or the train. We shouldn't blindly restrict ourselves to a single mode of transportation, but instead adapt according to the situation.
