In around 300 AD, Ghana had an immense empire too. They built some cities in the heart of their kingdom. Nothing was ever the size or matched the power of any European city or civilization of the era, but its worth mentioning at the very least. Africa wasn't all mud huts. Its a big continent with many different landscapes. Some are better than others at fostering civilization. We still see it today."
