My neighborhood was went from "safe" to "voluntary evacuation" to "mandatory evacuation" in a 24 hour period over the predicted thread of the Brazos cresting at 59 feet.

Our levee is supposed to be 60 feet, but it has dropped 58 feet due to shifting soil.
We tried to evacuate, but my SUV stalled from flooding as a result of rain (not river) and though I managed to get it started again, we had to abandon it in a neighbor's driveway about a block from my own house.

Helpful hick guys in a monster truck got my grandmother back home while I walked back. We still have power and everything, so we'll either stay here and hope the river doesn't get in, or we have to rely on the hope that the MUD is still pumping water so I can recover my car.
