Not really. NC has standing plans to evac low lying areas in under 24 hours. The only low lying place that takes longer is ocracoke in the summer since there no roads to the island. that takes all of 36 hours.

If even 10 more inches of rain fall over the next two days, this will be a massive disaster. This is Katrina currently, but the most modest of estimates are that another 20 or so inches of rain will fall over the week.

The current flooding? That's not going to magically sink into the soil. What soil there is is currently completely saturated. Even a quarter of an inch of rain an hour will increase the current flooding.

This is a best case scenario. If it turns out that the storm actually becomes more powerful over the gulf? RIP Houston. A storm surge would be absolutely fucking devetating.

My bowels have released in preparation of the Addicks release. Old lady two houses down called to say the people who were supposed to look after here left this weekend without telling her. Told her I would do what I could. Gave some baby formula to a family who were flooded in the back part of the neighborhood. Just got word parents were safely evacuated seeing as their house is on/under the bayou this is good news. stay safe.
